Chapter 279 The Beastman Priest Must Save Himself (Part 6)

"Yes, that's it." The snake next to him also raised its head and answered, its tail swishing loudly.

Wolf was immediately displeased and retorted, "Who ran away? You're clearly just relying on your numbers. If you're so capable, let's have a one-on-one fight!"

Yu Ling tugged at the wolf warrior next to her. He was already poisoned and almost crippled, yet he was still so stubborn.

If it weren't for the fact that the wolf clan was busy hunting to prepare for the cold snap and stockpile more food, leaving them with no manpower, it wouldn't have been his turn, a rabbit clan member, to accompany this person on this long journey to seek medicine.

By throwing her prey to the ground and explaining the matter of exchanging the antidote, Yu Ling, a mere rabbit, displayed the aura of a tiger, completely stunning everyone present.

Putting everything else aside, even Wolfgu, who had been escaping reality, finally noticed that their rabbit priest had carried the prey for so long, and was incredibly strong.

"Oh... I remember you, your name is Rabbit White, right? Aren't you the former little priest of the Lion Clan? Oh, right, I heard they kicked you out. No wonder you're involved with the Wolf Clan. But... this little bit of prey isn't enough to save his life."

The red python transformed into a beastman with short, fiery red hair and a delicate, handsome face. Then, it revealed a sinister smile.

While saying it was a death sentence might be an exaggeration, the amputation and detoxification that left him crippled was indeed as tragic as taking his life for a beastman in his prime.

"Not enough? What else do you want?"

Yu Ling asked warily, "The wolf clan doesn't have any extra prey to give to these guys now, but if they dare to ask for more, then we'll just have to swallow this loss."

"Hmm, you know what the snake race lacks..." the red python beastman said, and then habitually stuck out his tongue and hissed.

Yu Ling's heart skipped a beat. What was this guy planning to do? He had absolutely no idea!

What do you want?

In the original owner's mind, the snake race was the most cunning of the beast races, so Yu Ling's answer was not to be taken lightly.

"Of course... we need a skillful helper," the red python orc laughed. "We can cure the wolf's poison, but... you'll have to stay with the rabbit."

The red python beastman looked at Yu Ling with a chilling gaze, as if he wanted to devour her whole. He had no idea what he was thinking.

"Hiss~"

Wolf Gu gasped.

This guy is absolutely insane! He's already lost his prey, but now he's even trying to steal their newly hired rabbit priest?!

"Pah!"

The wolf clan had developed some affection for Yu Ling, their new priestess, whom they had served for quite some time. Every hunter in the clan had received her gentle healing. Wolf Gu, filled with rage, cursed at the red python beastman.

"Fine, I won't take the antidote. You petty snake clan, you drove your prey from our territory back then, and you dare to ask for our rabbit priest? You're dreaming!"

"Tsk tsk, quite stubborn. But... this isn't a place for you to run wild. Are all wolves this rude...?" The red python beastman was also provoked, and his words became increasingly sarcastic.

Seeing that the atmosphere was getting tense, Yu Ling quickly stepped in to mediate. After a long time, she finally managed to calm Lang Gu down.

After much thought, it turns out the female lead's feelings for the snake clan are actually quite ordinary. So even if word gets back of what the original owner did, the snake clan won't detain him to avenge her.

There must be some real need for this rabbit for the red python beast to make this request.

"Okay, I promise you, let's detoxify him first."

Yu Ling agreed. Anyway, the side quest required three tribes. She had heard that the Snake Tribe had never had a priest, so she could probably do some side quests along the way. The Snake Tribe certainly wouldn't be raising another rabbit at this time of year, so she should be able to go back soon.

The two skipped over their own agreement, and in the end, Wolf had no choice but to compromise and agree to let the Red Python Beastman detoxify and heal him. After some effort, his complexion was indeed much better than before, and he regained feeling in his legs.

"I won't pursue your offense this time, but if I see you hunting among our snake clan again, hmph!"

The red python beastman uttered a harsh threat, glanced at Yu Ling to signal her to finish her business quickly and leave with him, then transformed back into its true form and slithered away.

Wolf Gu was seething with anger. He had almost gotten into a fight with the sharp-tongued red python beastman when he was trying to detoxify. If Yu Ling hadn't stopped him, he probably would have impulsively attacked and gotten poisoned again.

Seeing his expression, Yu Ling knew he was uncomfortable, so she comforted him:

"It's all alright now, Wolf, you can go back without worry. The Snake Clan won't make things difficult for me. I'll be back in a couple of days."

Actually, he wasn't sure either. After all, the snake clan was known for its cunning and treacherous nature; who knew what tricks they might use to tease him? He figured he might as well make the best of it and just be careful. Nothing bad would happen, after all.

"Hmm." Wolf Gu nodded.

He wasn't reassured that Yu Ling was here, and he didn't have a good impression of the snake-clan beastmen either.

However, the wolf clan still needs him to return to hunting. The snake clan beastmen are few in number, but each one is very difficult to deal with. The wolf clan cannot possibly step forward for him or Yu Ling at this time.

Despite harboring resentment towards the snake clan, Lang Gu couldn't possibly let Yu Ling's efforts and the prey she brought go to waste, so he had no choice but to leave the snake clan's territory with a long face.

"Rabbit...why don't you consider joining our snake clan?" The red python asked suddenly, noticing Yu Ling's blank stare as she watched Lang Gu leave (he was in a daze).

"Huh? What?" Yu Ling was still a little confused when she came to her senses, but she didn't take it seriously. Instead, she asked, "Speak, snake clan, what do you want to do with me?"

"You little rabbit, you're quite clever. I love talking to smart little things. To be honest, I've really taken a liking to you. How about becoming a priest in the snake clan? Hmm?"

The red python flicked its scarlet forked tongue, a glint of shrewdness flashing in its eyes.

"When the cold wave arrives, we'll all hibernate, and all the food will be yours..."

"Forget it, I dare not eat anything from the snake clan!" Yu Ling refused without any politeness. "Let's get down to business. You should know how good my rabbit clan is at escaping. I only agreed to stay to make up for the mistake that Lang Gu made. Don't waste my patience."

"Heh, no wonder she's a little rabbit who can mingle with the lion and wolf clans, she's got guts."

The red python circled around Yu Ling, tightly coiling its long-eared little darling around her, and whispered in her ear, "..."

"If I stay in this position, do you think you can still escape now?"
