Chapter 384 The Interstellar Insect Emperor Must Save Himself (Part 15)

"Start the test now. If you feel like you can't go on, press this emergency button."

The examiner was well aware of all the underhanded dealings. This person was clearly pursuing the path of mental strength, and had even been personally selected by Congresswoman Woolf. To protect his own job, he had to be careful not to actually hurt the person.

However, he was being too simplistic.

"I see."

Even the 'delicate' Yu Ling speaks in a gentle and soft voice.

He took the worthless medical examination data, turned around and went into the special assessment simulation room next door, making the other audience members silently sweat for him.

The combat dummies and backgrounds simulated by technological means were quite realistic. Yu Ling couldn't resist secretly scanning them with her soul power, only to find that they were just tricks, like magic tricks, and not nearly as perfect as they appeared to the naked eye. She was somewhat disappointed.

Since that's the case... let's just cancel it quickly.

Thus, from Woolf's perspective...

The weak and malnourished child went in.

Spike, the machine is on.

Then......

The machine broke down.

Since the site was destroyed, the gate opened automatically. Yu Ling walked out clean and tidy, not a single hair out of place, her eyes looking utterly innocent.

He asked, "Did I pass?"

Evaluator: "......."

He'd never seen anything like this before and had no idea!

Let's just gloss over it for now.

"Uh... the next match is a live-action battle. You can choose to pilot a mech or fight alone."

Yu Ling: "Single soldier."

Although he bought the complete driving manual, he shouldn't embarrass himself by using such large mechanical equipment.

The individual combat exercise involved using virtual lightsabers to engage in a group fight with randomly selected military academy students. To give Congresswoman Woolf some face, the examiners simply picked a few people randomly from the onlookers, without specifically targeting outstanding students to make things difficult for them.

"You guys, change your clothes and come in."

...The tedious and boring preparation time has passed.

Yu Ling moved her wrists, refusing the protective suit that hindered her movements, and twirled the virtual lightsaber in her hand like a toy.

"Test begins."

The examiner had just finished speaking.

Immediately afterwards, the life dots representing the military academy students on the light screen were all extinguished in a flash!

And what about Yu Ling herself? She stayed in the same spot the whole time, without moving an inch.

Clearly, Yu Ling pushed quickly again, wielding her lightsaber with the flair of a swordsman from the Legend of Sword and Fairy. She used her mental energy to perform a sword flourish from a distance, casually glancing at their vital points, and the system immediately declared them dead.

The door opened.

Yu Ling, once again with an innocent and obedient look in her eyes, looked at the examiner and asked, "Did I pass?"

Examiner: Oh no, they're after me!

If Yu Ling didn't have some powerful connections, he would definitely have rejected her in a fit of anger.

However, Yu Ling was personally brought over by Councilor Woolf, so the examiner could only react in a fit of anger... He just got angry.

"Um, well... isn't this a bit much?"

Although the other person seemed reluctant, Yu Ling still politely said, "Thank you."

Woolf had seen the video and knew a little bit about him.

—The fear in the eyes of those scoundrels on the garbage planet was not feigned.

He knew that Yu Ling definitely hadn't used her full strength and didn't care that the assessment was too rigged. It was getting late, and he still needed to get the assessment form and get the person into the special forces team first.

The story of how the physically frail D-civilian used his mental powers to get into the special forces team spread throughout the military academy.

By the time the news reached Lyme and Bennett, it was already a done deal.

Lyme didn't react much; he figured he could just protect people when the time came.

Bennett racked his brains but couldn't figure it out. Why did Woolf kidnap the person who bullied his son, instead of taking revenge herself, and go to great lengths to help him get the person into the Special Forces?

Just then, Woolf had been putting pressure on himself by saying that the threat from the Zerg had not been completely resolved, and he didn't have much to do lately, so he decided to lead the special forces out for a spin and see for himself what they were up to.

Because of a certain video, Bennett has been misunderstanding the true relationship between Yuling and Lyme, thus drawing the wrong conclusion.

He conjured up a whole host of conspiracy theories from a seemingly innocuous incident and immediately informed his friends in the special forces.

"Hey? I heard that Lyme and a...civilian are going to report to your special forces team?"

"It seems so," the other end replied. "Don't worry, I understand. Let's teach them a lesson, right?"

He would have immediately refused such a ostracizing attempt, but Bennett thought about it and decided not to. That old fox Woolf only dared to make such an arrangement because he didn't know he had connections in the special forces. It was better for him not to interfere and just keep an eye on things from the sidelines.

"You need to be careful. That civilian came from a garbage planet and isn't as simple as he seems on the surface."

He didn't believe that only D- could suppress Lyme.

"Okay, okay, just take care of yourself. Those upper-class people love to discard you after you've served your purpose. After they deal with the Zerg, you might be next."

“You’re right.” Bennett didn’t deny it. He wasn’t a self-righteous hero, nor did he think he was the exception. “But the Zerg are the common enemy of all intelligent beings. They must not be allowed to live. I know what I’m doing.”

The call ended, and Bennett stood silently gazing at the sky from his rooftop terrace, which was covered by one-way glass. The metallic neon lights, typical of interstellar architecture, flickered in the night, but the inky sky was devoid of any stars.

Which of the Imperials isn't selfish? He's nothing more than a puppet hero pushed out by several factions, existing only to appease the common people. Look, as long as the common people work hard, they can become generals!

Ha... hypocritical.

When will Lyme realize that he lost to himself not because of his ability, but because of the needs of his citizens?

When the special forces team reported for duty, Lem led Yu Ling there empty-handed, without even bringing any extra clothes, let alone weapons.

It's very dark here, and all necessities have to be purchased internally at high prices, which has been a long-standing tradition.

The team, ready to set off to explore the new land, was fully equipped and prepared, along with the extra resources for two people, which were being carried by Jonathan, the special forces captain.

Jonathan greeted the new member with a smile, appearing quite friendly.

"Lord Lem, you're still alive after all this time?"

Okay, but the content itself isn't very user-friendly.

Yu Ling glanced at the two of them, who were on the verge of exchanging blows, and like a mouse stealing cheese, she quietly moved her foot and went up to Jonathan and snatched the equipment that belonged to him from his left hand.
