The dwarves, who are even shorter than earth elves, are not so cute in appearance. Thick necks and big noses are standard features, and their bodies are full of large muscles, making them walking cubes. How come people catch these ugly things?
Yu Ling, who originally just wanted to hitch a ride, also became interested and begged Kaio to fly towards the adventure team.
When Kaio heard a noise ahead, Yu Ling offered up the earring equipment she had bought from the system, put away Kaio's and her own wings, and the two of them changed into ordinary human appearances with blond hair and blue eyes. They put on cloaks and then walked towards the front.
Kaio accepted Yu Ling's occasional magical contraptions, much like Doraemon. He was poor, not Yu Ling, so it was perfectly normal for her to have some treasures he'd never seen before.
Two elves disguised as humans nimbly darted through the bushes, bypassing several thick trees. From a considerable distance, they spotted dwarves and several adventurers chasing each other like they were playing a game of tag.
One of the team members even had furry ears, clearly indicating he was an orc. This adventure team had obviously come from the other side of the mountains, which meant they were now very, very far away from the human kingdom.
The dwarf, caught in a panic, ran towards Yu Ling and the others. When Kaio saw something running towards him, he instinctively used his innate magic to raise a dark chain from the ground, which threw the dwarf to the ground with a thud.
The group that had been chasing the dwarves quickly ran over and spotted Yu Ling and Kaio, two unfamiliar faces.
The adventurer with the weapon drew his sword with a swift "whoosh." The leopard-eared orc beside him also brandished his claws and barked:
Who are you? Why are you stealing our prey?!
Kao didn't react for a moment. What? Prey? Are you talking about this ugly potato spirit?
"Here you go, who wants this ugly thing!"
Having been driven crazy by the constant torment, Kaio finally revealed his neurotic side, kicking the dwarf like a football towards the adventure team. This was the first time he had shown this crazy side since Yu Ling pretended to have amnesia.
The dwarves, who were of high market value and equally hated all non-dwarves, were kicked away by Keo. After that, they kept uttering various censored words that could not be translated, but the leopard-eared orc quickly gagged and tied them up, and then threw them to the other teammates to be guarded.
Seeing that they had captured their prey, the adventure team softened their attitude considerably, toned down their aggressive and unapproachable demeanor, and began to scrutinize the two uninvited guests, Yu Ling and Kaio.
"Where did you come from? Did you get separated from the mercenary group?"
On the other side of the human kingdom, where elves reside, where the distribution of power is completely opposite, there are only two behemoths with relatively low barriers to entry: mercenary groups and adventurer guilds.
Of course, there are also more specific groups like thieves, bards, lone wolf travelers, and merchant guilds. However, the adventurers, seeing two people they had no recollection of and dressed casually, naturally categorized them as mercenaries.
“No, we’re independent travelers, not mercenaries.” Yu Ling pointed at Kaio and gave a half-hearted explanation to the obviously naive and inexperienced adventure team. “Besides, my brother and I got here by accident. We… got lost.”
Keo secretly tugged at Yu Ling's sleeve from behind, somewhat reluctant for her to get too close to the other person. His past experience told him that getting too close to strangers was never a good thing.
But how could Yu Ling possibly listen? He has now transformed from an 'obedient younger brother' into a 'rebellious younger brother who doesn't know how to read the room'.
Even disguised as a human, Yu Ling remained breathtakingly beautiful. She then generously pulled out several smooth, unmarked gold coins from her bosom, and, with a tentative inquiry, said:
"If it's possible, could you give us a ride?"
The gleaming gold coins attracted everyone in the adventure team. They did much the same thing as the mercenaries: get paid to do things.
However, adventurers are keen on exploring everywhere, while mercenaries prefer to do jobs that pay well and are stable. But as long as the money is enough, they will do anything without any principles, and their character varies greatly. In this respect, adventurers are obviously much better.
"It's not impossible."
The young man who just drew his sword against Yu Ling was a leader; at least no one questioned his decision when he was collecting gold coins.
Upon seeing that the gold coins had been accepted, Yu Ling revealed an innocent and docile smile.
He had long coveted the horses they had tied up far away. The horses in the fairy tale world could talk and ran incredibly fast. He wondered if he could hitch a ride with one. Even if he was just being carried along, at least he wouldn't have to waste any more time on the road.
Because the horse was tied far away, Kaio was puzzled by Yuling's actions, but due to his complex feelings of guilt and other factors, he did not question Yuling.
But why is this elf prince so naive even after suffering amnesia? Doesn't he fear encountering bad people? These two rare elves are easily harmed outside!
However, with their current disguises, it's much less strenuous for him to resort to magic in fights like before.
Because they looked so thin and weak after taking off their hoods, Kaio and Yuling quickly became familiar with the people there. Their conversations changed from wary to friendly. Yuling, in particular, who looked fair and delicate and appeared to be quite young, received all kinds of care.
The saying "the one who pays is the boss" applies everywhere. They're not some heartless swindlers; they have no reason to bully two lost "down-on-their-luck young masters."
That's right, this is the new character design for the two elves—two brothers whose family was suddenly forced to leave and make a living on their own due to a sudden change.
Aside from being quite generous when giving out gold coins at the beginning, Yu Ling left all the tasks of building relationships to Kaio throughout the journey.
Fortunately, this dark elf, at the very least, is mentally unstable.
When force was needed on the road, Keo's ferocious and maddening behavior was truly insane. It directly intimidated the members of the adventure team, making them maintain a certain distance even though they were still easily misled by beauty and looked down on the two.
The leopard-eared orc was no stranger to this kind of behavior that seemed to be a declaration of force in self-defense. He himself had transformed from a predator into an adventurer. He didn't mind Keo's neurotic behavior, but instead took a liking to the chubby Yu Ling.
With his animal instincts, he felt nothing for Kaio, who was born a dark elf, but Yuling, the elven prince whose body was imbued with most of the favor and blessings of the sacred elven tree, was naturally loved by all living beings.
