He was like a little hamster, always managing to collect a tiny bit of something every time he went out, then hiding it under his bed, making Yu Ling suspect that this person's profession before entering the game was not very respectable.
Yu Ling remained cooperative. Although he didn't use the Dean's card, the other NPCs didn't dare to cause trouble in the ward. Soon, after the gloomy youth had gone too far, he successfully found the archives on the third day.
[A player has gone to the archives, host, charge!]
The system, always eager for a good show, urged Yu Ling to unleash her full power.
Yu Ling didn't really like the plot where an ally suddenly turned into the mastermind behind the scenes. He wasn't trying to build a good relationship with that player in order to wipe them all out.
They caught them all but didn't give him a raise.
"Just be a quiet translator."
System: .......I'll shut up!
After the players ransacked the wards, the guards stopped paying much attention and focused their efforts on security on the higher floors.
Now it's convenient for Yu Ling to wander around and rescue the patients who were previously messed with by the players. He's currently in a colleague relationship with the other NPCs, and they all have a connection with each other.
Seeing that Yu Ling, this new and powerful girl, has no tendency to bully them, these weaker NPCs should be thankful.
Logically speaking, Sunshine Asylum doesn't deserve a high-level NPC like Yu Ling, who was raised to be a guinea pig. It was only because the previous director was killed that this world had a new batch of NPCs.
After Yu Ling took control of the asylum, she used her authority as the director to detain all nine players in the director's office.
With no way forward and no way back, is this game of letting things slide finally about to get serious? The gloomy young man gripped the scalpel he had taken from the operating room tightly, bracing himself for the impending murder.
Five minutes passed, ten minutes passed, twenty minutes passed... and finally the door opened.
The books in the dean's office moved on their own without any wind, and a cloud of water mist gathered from the corner, forming a white fog as tall as a person.
"Why can't you just be more careful? Why do you have to run away?"
A bespectacled figure in white mist looked odd, but his voice was noticeably more soothing—a sound similar to glass being scraped by a sharp object.
"The world is sick, and only this hospital offers us a place to stay. Don't you all understand?!"
There's a feeling that there's a hidden plot, but everyone's fighting ability is obviously not very high; they just want to find a shortcut to escape the hospital as soon as possible.
Several newcomers hid in the back, not daring to look directly at the enraged boss. One of them tried to be clever and communicate with the dean. Only the gloomy young man secretly approached the corner from which the white mist was drifting out.
[Wow, he actually walked this way! Host, your predictions were spot on!]
Yu Ling smiled but didn't say anything.
Players who love to rummage through drawers and cabinets to find clues are the easiest to fool. If you deliberately let them discover something amiss, they can easily lead you into a dead end with their enthusiasm.
In that corner, Yu Ling had prepared a clue that he would never overlook.
Under the attack of the White Mist version's leader, players have already begun to suffer casualties.
—They didn't seem to have much experience with missions, their mentality was too poor. Yu Ling even saw a few idiots trying to push others to take the blows, and she quickly used her Flash to kill those two.
Backstabbing guys are annoying. If you're unsure whether the players are good or bad, kill these backstabbers first to complete the quest, then worry about other things.
As expected, true feelings are revealed in times of crisis. After completing the three slots, Yu Ling looked at the other players who were being chased and were running away with their heads in their hands. He lost interest in teasing them and handed them over to other NPCs to deal with. He then flashed back to his ward.
Inside the ward, the rose had long since returned to its bud state, unlike before when it had been wildly bloomed by someone.
About half an hour later, the door opened and the gloomy young man came in panting. He looked at Yu Ling, who was staring blankly out the window, and gave her a bewildered look in return.
The guy who was probably a player jogged over and hugged the NPC Yu Ling. Perhaps he was too empathetic and was moved by the story Yu Ling made up, so he didn't even want the flower that was disguised as a key item.
"Number 1, what's wrong?"
Looking at Yu Ling's innocent face, the gloomy young man hardened his heart and asked her in a desperate manner, "Do you want to leave here?"
"Leave? But the doctor said my illness isn't cured yet," Yu Ling said blankly. "Are you leaving?"
"Yes, let's get out of this godforsaken place."
The gloomy young man shoved a glowing prop into Yu Ling's hand and said,
"If I give you this, you will know the truth about this world."
Yu Ling: "......." Is this a contract orb that can be bound to an NPC? Is it something a player can only obtain during the beginner phase?
If that's the case, then he wouldn't need to kidnap this player to take his place, thus freeing the Dean.
Instead, they directly altered the contract and stole his player identity!
"I'm willing to sign the contract with you. Thank you for wasting such a precious opportunity for me." After regaining her senses, Yu Ling's eyes sparkled like diamonds, and she smiled warmly. "If you have no objections, please approve it."
This contract appears to be a standard binding contract, where NPCs can be transformed into the player's partner/item, fighting alongside them.
However, Yu Ling added a sentence at the very bottom, in tiny font.
