Chapter 469 I am an NPC in an Infinite Flow Flow (Part 5)

The door creaked open.

An old man with a white beard and a somewhat thin appearance poked his head out from inside.

Someone in the village had died recently, and he was already impatient and wanted to kick the person out. But when he saw that it was Yu Ling, such a young and handsome man, he began to hesitate.

A stranger dressed so cleanly, with fair skin and delicate features, must have some extra money in his pocket; he can at least improve his meals.

But the village chief didn't immediately welcome them into the house. Instead, he asked warily, "What do you want?"

Yu Ling replied politely, "I accidentally got lost and would like to ask to stay at your house for a couple of days."

Lost? Well, that makes sense. They're in the middle of nowhere, even locals can easily get lost. A delicate city dweller like you definitely wouldn't know how to find your way.

The village chief stepped aside, leaving a crack in the door for Yuling. After Yuling went in, she peeked out and looked around to make sure no one else was outside the yard before carefully bolting the door shut.

“Our Huangjia Village is in a bad location and the conditions are poor, so we rarely see outsiders. Just stay here and we’ll bring you some when we go on a long trip.”

Actually, the village chief wanted to say that he would send Yu Ling away after the funeral in their village, but he was afraid that Yu Ling would feel it was bad luck, so he changed his mind.

“We have an empty room in our house that we use for storing odds and ends. How about we put two stools on it and put a wooden board on it for you? It’s not that we don’t want you to have a good place to sleep, but look at me, I’m an old man, I can’t stand sleeping on a heated kang.”

The village chief's wife was much younger than him, and her hair wasn't completely white yet. She was also quite efficient at her work. She brought Yu Ling and the village chief a cup of hot water and then went out to tidy up the house.

Yu Ling had no intention of helping at all. He rummaged through his storage space and found a string of rather pretty wooden beads to give to the village chief as a thank-you gift. After all, the money in each map was not interchangeable, and gold was too expensive.

However, it's unclear which hospital room he smuggled the bead from; it looks to be of good quality, and the village chief, an elderly man, said he really liked it.

With information from the NPC's background board, Yu Ling didn't ask the village chief about any secrets; his only goal was to find a place to stay for the night.

As a neutral village chief, he was still a figure of authority in Huangjia Village. Although he was a bit old, everyone respected him quite a bit. When the vengeful ghost appeared in the village at night, Yu Ling could comfortably lie in bed and watch how the other players tried to survive.

Yu Ling didn't even have a schoolbag on him, and his pockets didn't look very big, so it didn't seem like he could take out much stuff. The old village chief chatted with him casually for a couple of minutes, and then sent him to the storage room where he was temporarily staying, saying that he would call him to have dinner together before dark and that he could rest easy.

As a well-behaved and obedient city boy who just dyed his hair to keep up with the times, Yu Ling naturally had no objections.

The old village chief saw him out of the yard. Just then, the village chief's wife had emptied the storage room and brought over a worn-out quilt with neatly sewn patches, which could barely keep out the cold wind at night.

Yu Ling took the quilt, thanked her, and was about to make the bed herself when she heard another series of urgent knocks on the door.

The old village chief's face darkened. Who would knock on the door like that if something happened to them? What kind of child is this, so ill-mannered! He went over and opened the gate with a grim expression, saying:

Who is it?!

At the entrance, two players trembled from the shout; the NPCs here were really irritable.

"Hello, sir, we are just passersby."

One of the players grinned, but the fear in his heart made his smile more like a grimace. Even so, he hadn't forgotten his mission and continued...

"We're lost and would like to stay in the village for a couple of days. Your yard looks quite big. If it's really not possible, we can just lay out a straw mat in the yard!"

After thinking about Yu Ling, who was beautiful, spoke and acted with grace, and then looking at these two cowards who were practically quails, the old village chief spoke:

"There are so many houses in the village, why did you specifically choose my house to stay overnight?"

"Well, well," the two players were honest, "we didn't really insist on coming to your house. We just knocked on so many doors, and only yours opened..."

They didn't even know the old village chief was the village chief; it was pure luck that they found out.

I just subconsciously felt that wandering outside in the dark of the game was too dangerous. Although it was also quite dangerous in the villagers' houses, at least I could gamble on that 50% chance, right?

The NPCs in the beginner world were generally quite friendly. Although the village chief found it rather strange that three people had suddenly come to stay at his house, he didn't kick the two of them out.

What bad intentions could this young man, whose voice even trembles, possibly have?

The two players, Yu Sicai and Wang Wei, were both young men around 20 years old. It's estimated that they relied on playing passively or being carried in the previous games, lacking any independent thinking. However, they were clear-headed and knew to maintain good relationships with NPCs and avoid breaking taboos, which led to their sudden and inexplicable defeat.

The two men pulled out a lot of money from their pockets and handed it to the village chief, while also showering him with compliments. The old village chief's expression softened considerably.

At that moment, Wang Wei also spotted a handsome figure with blue hair and blue eyes leaning against the door frame of the makeshift room in the courtyard.

This NPC is actually quite good-looking; he doesn't seem like the kind of person who would spawn in this dirt village map!

"Old man, who is he...?" Wang Wei asked casually, not wanting to give the other person a random address and offend him.
