"Mmm-hmm." The three little girls nodded, thinking they still had to help secretly. As long as their aunt didn't see them.
Mo Yan took the three of them home. As soon as they entered, they saw Tao Zhengyi sneaking a bite in the kitchen. There was nothing that could be done about it, so Mo Yan didn't leave any food for him.
He was probably starving and wanted to cook for himself, but ended up making a mess of himself.
Upon seeing the three girls, he immediately said, "You three, hurry up and cook for me! I want fried rice with eggs, quick!"
Upon hearing Tao Zhengyi's words, they nodded without hesitation, "Okay, we'll go right now."
The three little girls immediately went to the kitchen.
"Da Ya, Er Ya, San Ya".
Mo Yan spoke with a dark expression, and the three little girls turned around and looked at her pitifully. "Auntie?"
"The three of you are not allowed to help. Come with me to the room."
Mo Yan pulled the three of them back to the room and took out a book, which was an elementary school textbook.
Through her memories, Mo Yan learned that the original owner was a teacher in the village, but the school had stopped operating two years ago. Later, the village school merged with the town school, and the original owner stopped teaching.
Mo Yan had no intention of continuing to be a teacher; she wanted to do something else.
"Come here, I'll teach you to read. There are some notebooks here. You can start learning from the basics. In a little over a month, you'll be able to go to school."
The climate in this small world is different from other worlds, and farming will change accordingly. For example, it is July now, the hottest time of the year, and in a little over a month, we can start planting the second crop of beans, potatoes, and so on.
The three little girls' eyes widened, their surprise and delight shining through them. "Really? We can really...really go to school?"
They thought their aunt was just saying that casually.
"So you didn't take what I just said to heart?" Mo Yan said helplessly. These three little girls didn't need to be so surprised. "Watch carefully, I'm going to teach you pinyin."
Mo Yan taught them aoe and let them start writing slowly before going to the kitchen.
Tao Zhengyi was still crying in the kitchen, and his face looked even uglier when he cried.
"Why? Why is she doing this to me?" Tao Zhengyi couldn't understand why his mother was like this.
It was the same before; they wouldn't let him live with his grandparents because they were afraid he'd be spoiled. Now they won't even feed him. Why is he so unlucky to have a mother like this?
"How have I treated you?" Mo Yan remained unmoved. Let her cry if she wants to; isn't she the one who should be ashamed?
“You don’t feed me, you don’t let those three girls cook for me, and you even hit me.”
Tao Zhengyi felt even more aggrieved, and tears streamed down his face as he cried, looking utterly pathetic.
"I've said before that you can only eat when you know you're wrong, but I don't think you even know where you went wrong."
They're already seven or eight years old; they won't starve to death if they skip a meal.
Tao Zhengyi wiped away another tear, somewhat bewildered. What had he done wrong?
"I don't know." He genuinely didn't know where he had gone wrong.
"Is it wrong for you to take it for granted that your sisters will do chores for you?"
Do you think it's wrong for a boy to think he should go to heaven?
Is it wrong for you to think they should give everything for you?
Tao Zhengyi, let me tell you, everyone is an individual, and you have to do your own things. Others have no reason or obligation to do things for you.
"You're a son, that's nothing special, understand?"
This child has always been spoiled. Everyone has instilled in him the idea that he is the only precious treasure in the family. Over time, he has come to think that everything is a given, that he is a golden nugget, and that he should be pampered.
When his bad habits are magnified to an extreme, people can no longer see his good points.
Every child is born like a blank sheet of paper. How they become depends on their parents' words and deeds, and the influence of their surroundings.
It cannot be said that Tao Zhengyi was without fault; it can only be said that the people around him still had an influence on him.
“But my grandparents didn’t say that. They said I’m the only son in the family, and everyone will depend on me in the future. So they should give everything for me, otherwise I won’t be good to them in the future.”
Tao Zhengyi spoke while crying, looking incredibly pitiful.
"You only think about how good people are to you, but have you ever thought about what you should do for them?"
Your uncles and aunts all have their own children; they should be taking care of their own children, not you.
Tao Zhengyi should strive for what he wants himself, instead of letting others give it to him.
Whether you understand or not, you must remember that from today onwards, you will take turns doing housework. This home belongs to everyone, not just you.
If you don't cook, you won't eat. Even if you get them to cook for you, you still won't eat, and I might even hit someone, understand?
Mo Yan really doesn't like reasoning; she prefers to take action.
Tao Zhengyi: "..."
"Go wash your face now. Look at the state of your face, it's absolutely hideous."
Tao Zhengyi: "..."
"You're going to wash me?"
"Fine, I'll break your hand then, and I'll wash it for you."
Mo Yan immediately stood up and went to find a stick.
"I'll wash it myself." Tao Zhengyi sniffed and wiped away her tears.
Mo Yan: "..."
It turns out that hitting children is more effective than lecturing them.
Tao Zhengyi, sobbing, went to wash his face and then waddled over. "Mom, I'm so hungry. My bottom hurts so much, is it bleeding...?"
