Chapter 24 The Seventies' Zhao Di Cheng Baozhu (24)

The little girl loves to dress up, and she's reached the age where she likes to dress up. It's time to dress up Xiaomingyue.

Previously, because my hair was very frizzy, I got a mushroom haircut. After taking care of it for a while and getting the nutrients, my hair has become much smoother.

Now that it's grown long, if it continues to grow loose, it'll eventually develop prickly heat in this hot weather.

After paying, Lin Jingyue immediately tied her hair into two little buns. The two little buns looked like sheep horns, which was a bit funny but very cute.

Xiaomingyue held the remaining hair ties in her hand with great affection, knowing she could use them to create many different hairstyles in the future.

I actually wanted to buy a few more clips, but they were sold out. They don't stock much, and once they get some, it's basically gone in a flash. There are quite a few wealthy families, and quite a few who spoil their children.

I was thinking of buying a can of malted milk powder, but after asking the salesperson, I found out it cost twenty yuan. Looking at the money I had left, I decided against it. I still have kudzu root powder at home; I can buy it next month.

Ten years ago, malted milk powder only cost a few dollars. But now everything is restricted, so nutritional products like malted milk powder have become increasingly expensive.

Lin Jingyue had never tasted malted milk powder before, but she had heard people say that it was very sweet and not as nutritious as milk powder. However, in those days, buying milk powder was a difficult thing, so she used malted milk powder instead.

Is there anything else you want to buy?

Little Mingyue shook her head. "No, Mom."

After thinking for a moment, Lin Jingyue finally bought two pairs of sandals made of plastic, which looked quite vintage.

Carrying large and small bags, she walked out of the supply and marketing cooperative, attracting the attention of many people along the way. Don't underestimate a woman's purchasing power, because she will buy everything she needs in one go.

Xiaomingyue looked at the hair ties in her hand, and finally stuffed them into her pocket. "Mom, let me help you get some."

"Okay!" Lin Jingyue handed her the bag of snacks, showing no special consideration for the child. That kind of self-righteous education wasn't suitable for her.

After getting home, I tidied up my things and then made lunch.

There's another tough battle to fight this afternoon, so I need to eat my fill to have the energy to talk nonsense—no, I mean, beg for help.

After lunch, Lin Jingyue gave Xiaomingyue some instructions, "Mom has to go out for a bit and will be back before dark. Do your homework at home. If you get bored, go play with Xiaoshitou. Those snacks are for you. Mom won't eat them. Eat them if you're hungry, but I won't buy you more right away. I'll buy more later, understand?"

The food is yours; you can eat it however you want, and you can finish it within a day. But if you really finish it within a day, it won't be replaced immediately. She wants to train her child's ability to allocate resources and self-control, and she doesn't want to spoil her too much; she still wants to set some rules.

Little Mingyue nodded as if she understood, then, remembering something, asked, "Can I give it to Little Stone?"

"Sure, these are yours. You can decide how to use them as you see fit, as long as you don't regret it."

"I understand, Mom."

Lin Jingyue wanted to pat her head, but her neatly styled hair made her hesitate. In the end, she just touched her little face instead.

When Aunt Zhang saw Xiaomingyue come to find Xiaoshitou, her eyes were full of relief. Before, Xiaoshitou was too young to go out much, so he didn't have many friends. As he grew older, the huge changes in his family made him even more introverted.

Now that she finally has a friend who's willing to play and have fun with her, she genuinely likes Xiaomingyue. Not to mention, the friend not only plays with her but also helps her with her studies.

"You wrote it wrong here. It should be like this. Look, I'll write it. And this calculation is wrong. Three plus five equals eight. How come five plus three equals six? Aren't they the same number?" Xiaomingyue checked the homework she had assigned to Xiaoshitou like a little teacher.

Little Stone has only been learning for a short time. He's eager to learn, but not very focused. Like most children, he can calculate correctly, but for some reason, he always writes down the wrong answers. Adults truly don't understand the world of children, and helping with homework is something only patient people can do.

"Sister Mingyue, I'm sorry." Little Stone fidgeted with his fingers, his head hanging low, looking very aggrieved. He had checked it many times, but hadn't found the problem. Sister Mingyue was so clever; she spotted it immediately.

With a stern face, Xiaomingyue said seriously, "Rewrite the word you wrote wrong ten times to reinforce your memory. As for the questions you got wrong, I'll give you twenty more questions to finish today."

She taught Little Stone the same way her mother taught her.

At first, she was a little scared when she saw Xiao Shitou, afraid that he would bully her like Yaozu did. But not wanting to make things difficult for her mother, she mustered up the courage to greet him. In reality, she was incredibly nervous, but with her mother there, she wasn't so scared anymore.

After spending some time with him, she realized that this little brother was very well-behaved, completely different from Yaozu. She also enjoyed the pleasures of being an older sister and learned a valuable lesson: everyone in this world is different.

On the other side.

Lin Jingyue went to the countryside, but returned to the original owner's family home.

The in-laws are easy to deal with; after the divorce, there's no connection left, and if they harass her, she can just call the police. But her own family is different; they're blood relatives, so she needs to come up with a solution that will solve the problem once and for all.

Granny Lin has almost fully recovered from her injuries, except for a few small scars on her face. During this time, she absolutely hated her daughter. She had always been a quiet, reserved person, and their relationship was never close. In fact, she had grown up to be an ungrateful wretch.

She doesn't go back to her parents' home, but is out there doing who knows what she's up to. She doesn't even give her job to her family first; she's incredibly selfish.

When she heard someone calling her home, she thought something had happened at home. But when she got home, she saw Lin Jingyue in tattered clothes, with a face covered in bruises and red eyes. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought something terrible had happened.

"Mother! You're finally back! You have to help me! How am I supposed to live if you don't help me?"

Granny Lin was completely dumbfounded. What did she mean by "can't live anymore"?

"Why are you crying? I didn't even cry after you ruined my life, so why are you crying?" she snapped impatiently, but still asked with some curiosity, "What happened?"
