Chapter 46 The Seventies' Zhao Di Becomes Baozhu (46)

As I was leaving with my bags, I ran into the Chen family. They were all covered in dust and dirt, looking a bit like beggars.

I paused for a second when I saw her. After all, we've known each other for several years, but I recognized her after a few glances.

"Lin Qiumei, what are you doing back here? So many mountain products, could it be that there's nothing to eat in the city?" Sister-in-law Chen couldn't help but sneer when she saw her.

I thought I was going to live a good life in the city, but it seems like it's not much better now.

Granny Chen looked arrogant, as if she hadn't learned her lesson yet, and said smugly, "If you apologize to me, you'll still be able to come back with the child. It's only because I have a good temper."

The main reason is that in the past six months, she has been trying to find a wife for her second son, but his family is too poor and cannot afford much dowry, so they have not been able to find a suitable person for a while.

Now that she's seen her former daughter-in-law, she's got that idea again.

"Old lady, you're overthinking it. I already have a boyfriend, and he's a soldier, a hundred times better than your second son. By the way, breaking up a military marriage can land you in jail, so don't even think about ruining my wedding, unless you want to meet with the police."

"Shameless slut, she found another boyfriend not long after divorcing my second son," Granny Chen cursed.

Lin Jingyue sneered, "Old lady, if you don't want your mouth anymore, I can sew it up for you!" Her tone gradually became sinister.

Upon hearing this, the other party dared not continue cursing.

For reasons unknown, Xiao Mingyue tugged at Lin Jingyue's sleeve when she saw Yaozu next to the old lady. "Mommy, I want to go home and eat candy. I also want peach shortbread, sponge cake, and rice cake. Mommy, peanut candy is delicious, can we buy more?"

How could a country boy listen to such things? Immediately, Chen Yaozu grabbed his grandmother's hand and commanded, "Grandma, I want candy! And sponge cake, I want everything she said!"

Granny Chen didn't have the spare money to buy these things. She wished she could split every penny in half to spend. She usually gave her grandson an egg every day and would bring back a dime's worth of fruit candy from the supply and marketing cooperative. That was already her limit.

"Grandma will buy it for you later. Be good, and when we get home, Grandma will cook you eggs." She comforted him.

"No, no, no! I want to eat chicken cake, I want to eat peach shortbread, I want it, I want it!" When Chen Yaozu failed to get what he wanted, he lay down on the ground and threw a tantrum, raising a lot of dust around him.

"If you don't buy it for me, I won't get up! I want it, I want it!"

Xiaomingyue felt a surge of resentment that had been building up inside her for years finally dissipate. She looked at him triumphantly, "My mom buys me lots and lots of candy. I can buy whatever I want. You don't have any. Your mom won't buy you any, and your grandma won't buy you any either. Because you're a bad child, and bad children don't get to buy things for them!"

This is practically the whisper of the devil.

Granny Chen wished she could shut her mouth, but with Lin Jingyue present, she dared not move and could only glare at her fiercely.

"You good-for-nothing! How dare you talk to your brother like that? Apologize to him right now, and give him all your things!"

With her mother's support, Xiaomingyue was no longer as timid as before, and boldly declared, "I won't! He's not my brother. My mother only gave birth to me! Why should my things be given to this bad child? I'm my mother's darling, not some money-losing burden!"

Reading books really makes a difference; I speak clearly and logically, and I'm not nervous at all.

"You, you, you!" Granny Chen felt a pain in her heart, a dizziness, and she was swaying so much that she seemed about to collapse at any moment.

The little boy lying on the ground was still throwing a tantrum, completely oblivious to the situation and only concerned with himself.

Lin Jingyue couldn't help but shake her head as she watched this scene. This child was ruined; a perfectly good child had been raised like this.

"Sweetie, let's go home. We don't have any poor relatives like that, and you don't have a younger brother. How about Mommy takes you to the department store today? Didn't you want to buy a new pair of white sneakers last time? Mommy will buy them for you!"

She very kindly took Xiaomingyue's hand while saying some annoying things.

The Chen family felt they had broadened their horizons by going to the supply and marketing cooperative; they had never been to a department store before. And what were those white sneakers? They wore shoes they made themselves, with multi-layered soles.

The contrast was stark; their eyes reddened with envy and jealousy. They were all just struggling to make a living in the fields, so why had she risen to such heights?

God, you're so unfair.

After leaving the village, Xiaomingyue's smugness gradually faded, and she felt a little uneasy.

"Mom, is it wrong of me to do this? I feel like I'm becoming a bit of a bad kid." Showing off things that others don't have doesn't seem like a good thing.

Lin Jingyue was somewhat surprised; this child was a little too precocious. "What's wrong with that? He's bullied you so many times, and you've only said a few words to him, you haven't even hit him. What's wrong with that?"

"Honey, remember, kindness is reserved for the right people, not for a scoundrel like Chen Yaozu. There's nothing wrong with fighting back if someone bullies you. But it's wrong for you to bully others for no reason." Appropriate education and encouragement are good.

It's not wrong to be kind, but kindness without limits is unacceptable; that's just being a complete scourge. It's good to vent your frustrations occasionally, so you don't get sick later.

Women are most prone to developing nodules from holding in their anger, so it's better to express your temper and you're less likely to die young.

After hearing this, Xiaomingyue's anxiety finally disappeared. "Mom, I'm not a bad child, right?"

"Yes, you are Mommy's good boy, a good child. You teach Xiaoshitou to study, help your deskmate, encourage her to be better, and you even help Mommy with housework. How can you not be a good child?"

No one defines what a good child should be like, but in her heart, the little guy is her good child.

After returning home, Lin Jingyue tidied up the package and mailed it out.

After that, she kept an eye out for houses for sale. She had saved so much money to buy her own house, and now she could finally realize that dream.

Of course, this kind of thing can't be done too openly; it has to be done secretly in private.

Fortunately, she found a house for sale near Aunt Zhang's house. It was a small courtyard house with a fairly large area. The price wasn't too expensive, only a little over five hundred.
