Chapter 76 The Real Daughter is the Pearl (26)

“This is my aunt’s cat, but she’s busy, so she asked me to help take care of it,” Xie Qingqing said first. “Why aren’t you playing the violin anymore? Are you trying to slack off?”

As the saying goes, use magic to defeat magic; she has now learned the opponent's sarcastic and unpredictable tactics. Strike first, and you won't appear passive.

Xie Wan'er's face flushed red. "You're allowed to rest when you're tired from studying, but I'm not allowed to rest?"

"Are you rested now? If you're rested, go practice."

Xie Jingyue watched from the side, a hint of relief in her eyes. This child hadn't been taught in vain; she'd learned to fight back. If she continued to be so cowardly, she'd suffer greatly in the future.

"Qingqing, from now on, please use your tablet to take pictures of the cat and send them to me. I don't have much time to take care of it usually, so I'll have to trouble you. My room key is with my aunt, I'll talk to her and you can just go get it when needed."

Her room is usually locked, and she doesn't allow outsiders to enter. This was also the original owner's habit; she didn't like others touching her things without permission.

"Okay, Auntie, I will take good care of Da Bai."

"I also like kittens, Auntie, may I pet a kitten?" Xie Wan'er asked, seizing the opportunity.

She was practically dying of jealousy. Before, no one else had a say in these kinds of things. But ever since Xie Qingqing came back, her aunt had started to dislike her.

Why should I?

She has lived in this house for ten years, so why should Xie Qingqing take all her things away as soon as she arrives?

Xie Jingyue could see the jealousy and rivalry between them, but she didn't fall for it. She liked children, but only her own.

"I remember you were allergic to cat fur before, so you don't need to take care of the kitten. I'll keep the cat in my room, and it won't run away, so don't worry."

Her room is large, with enough space for the cat to move around. As long as the trash is disposed of regularly, there's no unpleasant odor left in the room.

When Xie Qingqing entered her aunt's room for the first time, it was completely different from her own room, and much larger with more things. Everything was neatly arranged and there was no dust, as someone cleaned it regularly.

Find a room with few things, put the kitten's cage inside, then open the cage and let the kitten out on its own.

The kitten was a little scared at first and hid in the cage, too afraid to come out. But after a while, when it felt that there was no danger outside, it cautiously came out.

This is a kitten that has just been weaned. You can feed it puppy food now, and you can switch to a different food when it gets a little older.

The kitten is surrounded by its things: cat litter, cat tree, toy fish, etc.

Xie Qingqing looked at the items and couldn't help but be amazed. She realized that city pets could afford so many things. Meanwhile, small dogs in the countryside could only scavenge toys from garbage dumps, and there were dog traffickers around, making it extremely dangerous.

I wonder how Big Yellow is doing.

The kitten curiously looked around, its round eyes darting about, occasionally tilting its head, looking rather adorable and chubby. Its ears were perked up, as if it were alert to its surroundings.

Sensing that the two people in front of it meant it no harm, it cautiously began to approach.

It first approached Xie Jingyue, who was farther away. It remembered her scent and that she was the one who bought it at the pet store. So, to it, this woman seemed safer.

Xie Jingyue was overjoyed as the kitten rubbed against her, thinking to herself that the kitten was quite intelligent.

I reached out and stroked the kitten's head, then stroked it from head to tail, all the way down.

The kitten purred contentedly, occasionally letting out a meow. Its voice wasn't shrill; it sounded soft and adorable, making you want to give it every cat food in the world.

"Want to hold it?" Xie Jingyue picked up the cat and handed it to Xie Qingqing, gesturing for her to hold it.

Xie Qingqing hesitated for a moment, then finally reached out and picked up the cat.

The kitten didn't struggle; it simply found a more comfortable spot to lie down and kneaded from time to time.

Cats are so cute and cuddly.

"Then the cat will be in your care from now on. After a while, when it's grown up, I'll take it to get spayed/neutered, and I'll contact you then. Okay, you take good care of it and get to know it well. I'm going downstairs now."

After tidying up, she had to go downstairs to check on the situation. Before leaving, she gave him a final reminder, "Don't let playthings distract you from your studies. Remember to focus on your learning. The cat is there to help you relax, understand?"

“Aunt, I understand!” She nodded earnestly.

"Meow!"

The kitten seemed to understand, and meowed twice.

As soon as I went downstairs, I saw that the two of them seemed to be in a pretty good mood.

"Why did you bring a cat home? Our house is so big, if the cat runs away, you'll never find it again." Seeing her return, the old lady remembered the cat from earlier.

It's cute, but it's too small. If it hides in a corner like that, no one will be able to find it.

"Mom, don't worry, I've locked myself in my room. I'll just ask Qingqing for help. Just don't let Wan'er get close; she's allergic to cat fur, so don't blame it on me later."

She locked herself in her room; if she still has an allergic reaction, then she's truly amazing.

"Okay, I got it. I don't know what you're thinking all day long, you just do whatever comes to mind."

Xie Jingyue initially intended to give the cat to Xie Qingqing to raise, meaning that Qingqing was the cat's true owner.

But then I thought about it and realized that wouldn't work. I still needed to give the kitten a name so that it wouldn't be bullied.

She's the big devil of the Xie family, no one dares to mess with her. If anyone bullies her little cat, isn't that declaring war on her?

"Now that the cat has been delivered, I'll head back now." Xie Jingyue will be away on a business trip for the next couple of days, so she won't be staying home today.

The old lady frowned and said reproachfully, "I just asked the housekeeper to cook, and you're leaving already? Aren't you going to stay with this old lady for a while?"

"If you're bored, why don't you play with the cat?"

"Go away, what would I do playing with a cat?"

Xie Jingyue chuckled, "Mom, take good care of Qingqing. Her life isn't as good as you think, and she's suffered so much before. As for me, I have to go on a business trip in a couple of days. Once things are settled, I'll take a few days off to stay home with you."

"They're gone."

"Goodbye, Madam Xie." Ye Jun nodded politely, stood up, and left as well.

He felt alive again the moment he stepped out of the room and felt the sun shining on him.

"Phew~"

"My mom is that scary? Look how frightened you are."

"After all, they're an elder; I don't want to lose face." Ye Jun scratched his head awkwardly. "You're going on a business trip in a couple of days. Where are you going?"

"What, you want to go too?"

"You can go."

"Then let's go."

"Then I'll book my flight."
