The group tied one end of the rope to the pillar and the other end to themselves.
Si Beiting decided to be the first to jump.
Sister, tell them to hurry up!
The system voice became urgent: [The zombie horde is closing in!]
Chu Xinxin's pupils contracted sharply: "Everyone! You must get down within one minute!"
"What happened?"
"The zombie horde is charging in!"
Alice and Lyle's ropes weren't tied up yet, and there wasn't enough time! Si Beiting grabbed Chu Xinxin and jumped down.
"Close your eyes!"
The whistling wind throbbed in Chu Xinxin's ears, and Si Beiting's dry, warm hands covered her eyes...
Despite the impending abyss, Chu Xinxin felt as if she were enveloped in soft clouds, experiencing an inexplicable sense of security.
"Thump!"
The ropes binding Si Beiting tightened and made a sound, and then Chu Xinxin was placed on solid ground.
With visibility restored, most of the superhumans had come down.
The elevator doors were opened, revealing a narrow corridor filled with zombies.
Upon hearing the sound, all the zombies turned around in unison.
Staring at by hundreds of empty, whitish pupils, even the experienced David felt a chill run down his spine.
"Bang! Bang!" Two gunshots rang out from deep within the corridor.
"It's Ryan!" Lyle exclaimed in surprise.
"Oh no, those zombies are climbing down from above!"
Alice, who was covering the rear, jumped down, and was injured.
"Lyle and Alice, protect Professor Chu. David, cover the rear. The rest of you, follow me!"
A large horde of zombies pounced on them.
Si Beiting fired one bullet at a time, his steps never faltering.
Others will only intervene when changing magazines.
On a platform, they finally met Ryan.
He was leaning against the wall, with an IV in his arm.
"Ryan, you're such a loser. You got bitten in just a few minutes."
Lyle swept the area around with the cannon barrel mounted on his shoulder, revealing an open space.
Ryan: "Pah! If you were surrounded by so many zombies, you'd be torn to shreds by now..."
Chu Xinxin went forward to check on Ryan's condition; it wasn't good, and he needed to be moved quickly.
But as soon as one batch of zombies was wiped out, another batch would swarm in, endlessly, and there was no way to eliminate them all.
"Damn it, have we stumbled into a zombie abode?"
"One wave after another, zombies can't be burned out, and cannonballs can only blow them back to life!"
"Boss, think of something quick!"
"Sister, there's a vent above us! Follow the vent to the next floor; there aren't as many zombies there!"
Chu Xinxin looked up and Si Beiting, who was next to her, immediately noticed her movement.
"I'll go turn on the backup power. The rest of you, retreat through the ventilation shafts!"
So many zombies...
David switched to a much more powerful pistol and said to Si Beiting, "I'll cover you!"
"No need, give me the oxygen tank, you guys go up quickly!"
A flame leaped up in Si Beiting's palm and shot up high in the blink of an eye!
"Run!"
David jumped onto the ventilation window, and flames instantly engulfed the entire corridor.
After about a minute, or even less, the fans in the vents started spinning loudly.
Si Beiting turned on the backup power.
David breathed a sigh of relief: "Professor Chu, can you sense how many zombies are on the upper level?"
Chu Xinxin glanced at the map the system had marked for her: "Not many... wait! The zombie horde has changed direction and is converging on the next level! And..."
"And what?"
Chu Xinxin's face turned deathly pale in an instant: "Moreover, they are concentrating in large numbers on the floor where the medicine storehouse is located."
"My intuition was right after all."
The ventilation vent was opened, and Si Beiting crawled in to take David's place at the vent.
"In the outskirts, there are only a few zombies, which is abnormally normal."
The zombies seemed to know their purpose and whereabouts.
“The zombies that surrounded us just now were the lowest level, with no ability to think and only following their instincts. But the fact that they are now gathered on this floor and heading towards the medicine warehouse proves that there are higher-level zombies commanding them.”
They staged an empty city ruse outside the city, luring the enemy into a trap before strangling them...
They even went so far as to expose the fact that "they" had developed intelligence...
They have no sense of touch, are impervious to pain and death, are numerous, and possess consciousness...
As expected, the virus evolved, and the zombies didn't remain unchanged either.
Before they arrived, everyone had their own guesses, but they also held onto a sliver of hope.
Good premonitions are usually wrong, while bad premonitions are right nine times out of ten.
Everyone was in a heavy mood.
"Do you have paper and pen?" Chu Xinxin suddenly asked.
"have."
Chu Xinxin quickly drew three routes on the paper.
"Divide into three teams. The first team will follow the first route, lure the zombies to the top floor, and wipe them out with bombs."
"The second squad will take the second route. After the first squad lures the zombies away, they will carry Ryan back to the ground and prepare to support the first and third squads."
"Third squad, protect me, break through the encirclement, and get the medicine from the pharmacy."
Chu Xinxin passed the blueprints around for review.
"Professor Chu, there are too many zombies. We should concentrate our efforts..."
"The zombies have gotten smarter; they'd love for you all to get together and have a good meal."
Chu Xinxin's route is the optimal solution obtained by the system after several analyses.
Si Beiting calculated it twice and concluded that Chu Xinxin's plan was indeed the most suitable.
“I will escort Professor Chu, David will lead the zombies, and Lyle will take Ryan back to the ground. Three hours later, regardless of whether everyone has arrived, we will evacuate immediately.”
"receive!"
“David, take this.” Chu Xinxin took out a vial of reagent from her backpack. “Zombies love this smell. Open it when you get to the top floor.”
"good."
The pharmacy was on the second floor of the hospital, and Chu Xinxin and the others were on the fifth basement level.
In other words, you have to climb seven floors.
Chu Xinxin dragged the huge suitcase and was covered in sweat after climbing only one floor.
Si Beiting tied the box to his waist with a rope.
The ventilation ducts are only installed up to the basement level.
"Sister, the first and second floors are full of zombies. It seems a higher-level zombie gave them orders not to leave."
Chu Xinxin reacted quickly and grabbed Si Beiting's hand as he was about to open the exit.
"System, do you have any ideas on how to distract them?"
No, you'll have to force your way in.
System explanation: [Unless you take me to see higher-level zombies, in which case I can detect their communication methods and then switch my frequency to try and command them.]
Si Beiting squeezed Chu Xinxin's fingers tightly: "Do you still have the reagent you gave David? I'll go distract the zombies, Alice will take you inside."
"It's no use. These zombies won't leave the medicine storehouse even a step."
Si Beiting glanced at his watch and decided, "Then let's break through!"
