Chapter 15 Cold and Aloof Master VS Cunning Disciple (2)

If Lin Han hadn't seen the fist clenched tightly under Mu Yan's robe, she might have really doubted whether Mu Yan was truly not angry anymore.

Seeing that Mu Yan was quite boring, the people opposite him also felt disappointed and left in a huff.

Suddenly, the sound of an ancient bell came from afar.

"Welcome all candidates to the Qingxuan Sect's recruitment conference. The conference consists of three parts: first, physical fitness; second, spiritual root examination; and third, the elders accepting disciples."

"Anyone who fails even one item will be considered a failure." As the bell rang, a man dressed in a dark blue robe appeared in front of the square on his sword, holding a booklet and reading out the rules of the competition.

Lin Han recognized the man; he was the disciple who had asked her outside her room earlier if she wanted to participate in the recruitment event.

The people below were all talking about the man who had suddenly appeared. Hearing the noise, Lin Han felt very irritated, and her head was buzzing.

"This is just the original owner's emotional state, don't worry too much. You can try to suppress it." Xiao Meng reassured Lin Han, who suddenly became agitated.

After listening to Xiaomeng's words, Lin Han tried to think about something else, and sure enough, her irritability decreased significantly.

The test has now begun. Everyone has entered the illusion to undergo a mental test.

"Xiao Meng, do you think Mu Yan won't just give up? His inner demons have had his entire family slaughtered. How can he possibly get away with that?" Lin Han said calmly, looking at Mu Yan, who was filled with hatred in the illusion.

After all, no one knows whether the plot has actually changed.

"I don't know, it should be okay. If he can't even overcome his inner demons, I don't think you need to take him as your disciple." Xiao Meng said indistinctly while gnawing on a chicken foot in the space.

Lin Han thought it made sense. She couldn't even overcome her inner demons. If she took him as her disciple, he was afraid that one day when her inner demons would flare up, he would treat her as an enemy and beat her up.

So she glanced one last time at Mu Yan, whose face was contorted with pain, before looking away to observe the others on the scene.

Mu Yan, on the other hand, was in extreme pain.

He looked around and realized it was the same scene he had witnessed at home.

"Xiao Yan is back! Wash your hands quickly. Mom made your favorite food. Come on." A woman said gently to Mu Yan.

Mu Yan looked at the woman in front of him, who was speaking to him affectionately. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he hugged her and began to cry.

When the woman saw her son suddenly burst into tears, she teased him, "So you're that moved? Alright, little man, why are you crying? Time to eat."

After saying that, she pulled Mu Yan into the house.

Having just finished crying, Mu Yan suddenly felt like she had forgotten something, but couldn't remember it for a moment, so she happily followed her mother back into the house.

Lin Han watched the whole thing from the sidelines. Seeing that Mu Yan had forgotten about the assessment and was lost in his own fantasy, he couldn't help but sigh and silently cheer him on.

Mu Yan went back to his room to eat, and soon the illusion progressed to the scene of his family being massacred.

"Ah! Run! The demons are coming!"

"Help!"

Suddenly, a lot of shouts came from outside, which puzzled the people eating inside.

"You all eat first, I'll go out and take a look," Mr. Mu said to his family.

Then he opened the door and went out, and didn't come back for half a day.

This situation worried Mu's mother a lot, so she slowly moved to the window and looked outside.

Suddenly her pupils dilated sharply.

She hurriedly pulled Mu Yan to the kitchen, stuffed him into the rice jar, and said in a panic, "Xiao Yan, stay in there and don't move! Don't! Do you hear me!" Then she closed the lid.

Seeing her mother's terrified expression, Mu Yan wanted to go out and see what had happened, but her mother pressed the lid down firmly.

There was nothing he could do but stay inside, peering out through the tiny gap between the rice container and the lid.

Then he witnessed a scene that he would never forget.

Several extremely ugly demons rushed into the kitchen, surrounded Mu's mother, cruelly murdered her, dismembered her body, and then each grabbed a piece and began to eat it.

"Kill them, kill them." As Mu Yan watched his mother being devoured, a voice in his mind urged him to go forward and kill them.

Hearing the voice in his heart, Mu Yan instinctively rushed out to fight those demons to the death. But Mu Yan, who was just an ordinary person, was no match for them. They grabbed him and slammed him to the ground.

It was a situation where death was inevitable, but Mu Yan was filled with rage whenever he thought of the scene of his mother's tragic death.

He struggled to his feet and grabbed the wood-chopping axe, hacking away with all his might.

The demons were also wounded by Mu Yan's reckless fighting style. Gradually, Mu Yan became bloodthirsty and, after killing the few demons who had fallen, he still felt unsatisfied and wanted to kill more.

Just then, a sigh suddenly came from afar, and it was this sigh that brought Mu Yan, who was blinded by rage, back to his senses.

Looking at the scene before him, he finally realized that he was in an illusion.

But he still went back, found his parents' last remains, buried them at the foot of the green hill, and knelt in front of their graves to kowtow three times.

At this moment, Mu Yan felt that his state of mind was different. The regret and anger that had always lingered in his heart seemed to have almost disappeared.

In the blink of an eye, Mu Yan looked at the square in front of him, his eyes flickered, and finally sat down to rest.

"Are you deliberately helping him?" Xiao Meng witnessed Mu Yan nearly going berserk when Lin Han sighed, and then Mu Yan regained his senses.

"No, I was just feeling sorry that I couldn't take on any more disciples, and I was sighing for myself when he suddenly came to his senses." Lin Han shrugged, his words full of indifference.

Xiao Meng naturally didn't believe her, but she didn't care. In any case, barring any unforeseen circumstances, following the original plot, Mu Yan would still be able to pass this test.

When Mu Yan regained consciousness, many others were still unconscious. As time went on, quite a few people were forcibly rescued and disqualified from the competition because they were trapped in the dream and unable to extricate themselves.

"Time's up! Anyone who doesn't wake up within the allotted time will be considered to have failed the assessment. Please leave in an orderly fashion." Seeing that the time was almost up, the man in the dark blue robe forcibly pulled the unconscious people out of the illusion.

He continued reading the second assessment item only after everyone had left.

"Congratulations on passing half of the first test. If you can reach the other side of this mountain within two incense sticks' time, you will pass the test." With that, the man waved his hand.

Suddenly, a suspension bridge appeared on the west side of the square. It consisted of only three iron chains and looked precarious as the wind blew.

Two incense sticks appeared beside the bridge, clearly indicating that they were to cross the bridge to reach the other side.

"It's all foggy here, you can't see the bottom, if you fall in you'll definitely die."

"That's terrifying."

"There are only three iron chains, how are we supposed to get across!"

There was constant chatter around, but no one was willing to be the first to try it.
