Chapter 110 The Eight Husbands from Previous Lives' Pursuit of Their Wives (25)

Counting the numbers, Qingyun has already devoured her clansmen, the sickly man in black, as well as the Immortal King and the Demon Lord.

She has already eaten four, and there are four left to eat.

She currently has five tails. After she finishes eating all the people she can, and completes her cultivation in this lifetime, she will be able to cultivate ten tails and ascend to immortality.

Perfect.

Qingyun sat on the broadsword of the mugwort and counted on his fingers.

Beside them stood Lei Tuo, his eyes filled with curiosity as he gazed into the distance.

After two years of rigorous training, Lei Tuo has become adept at using his human bloodline to suppress the boiling demon king bloodline.

Originally, she had too much spiritual energy in her body, and nowhere to go; so it simply flowed into her hair. Her hair grew back as soon as it was cut, and it kept getting longer and longer with each cut.

Once Lei Tuo was able to control her spiritual power, she was able to cut her hair short. She then cut her long hair into the same short hairstyle that she had long admired, just like Ai Cao's.

However, her eyes remained one black and one red. If she wanted to conceal herself as human, she could only use her spiritual power to create an illusion on the outside.

She wore a jade pendant and a longevity lock given to her by Hushan around her neck, and carried letters sent to her by her birth mother over the years in her pocket.

She also stuffed the items that she couldn't carry on her person into her storage ring and carried them with her.

They left the demon continent two days ago.

The Immortal King, the Demon Lord, and the Demon King made a pact, after which the Immortal King and the Demon Lord disappeared, leaving only the Demon King's corpse—this matter had already spread throughout the Demon Realm. Tiger Mountain used some tricks to completely absolve his own side of any responsibility in this matter.

Although Tiger Mountain wasn't worried at all about the three of them being targeted by demonic beasts seeking trouble or revenge, he still hurriedly sent them away to avoid affecting Lei Tuo's reputation among the demons.

The Demon Continent is a stage exclusively for Tiger Mountain.

Ai Cao sat cross-legged on the broadsword, lost in thought. On the horizon, the silhouettes of mountains were faintly visible.

She said, "It's been so long since I've gone back to visit."

Qingyun had just figured out what the people he could still eat looked like when he said irritably, "Didn't you go there a few times before? Those female cultivators even grabbed your hand and thanked you."

Ai Cao smiled and said, "No one went to see Yao Yao."

They did indeed return to the human continent several times. But at that time, Qingyun felt that Ai Cao's broadsword wasn't fast enough, so she took matters into her own hands and flew around carrying Ai Cao. Qingyun's flying method was still the shortest route: ascend—straight line—descend, completely disregarding whether Ai Cao lived or died.

If the mugwort's physical condition were any weaker, it probably would have died on the way.

Qingyun gave a soft hum.

She only had memories of her first meeting with Yang Lingyao. After that, she couldn't control her spiritual power and turned back into a little fox. Those memories were sealed away and never reopened.

They chatted and laughed for a few minutes before noticing Lei Tang standing to the side.

Ai Cao asked, "Lei Tuo? What's wrong?"

Lei Tang let out a soft "Ah." She lowered her head, fiddling with the hem of her fur-trimmed dress, and said, "...I haven't seen my mother in a long time. I wonder if she still remembers me."

Qingyun burst into loud laughter. She laughed so hard she could barely breathe, and coughed twice before she caught her breath.

Qingyun said, "What mother doesn't remember her daughter?" She smiled, her fox-like eyes crinkling. "But you, do you still remember what your mother looks like?"

Lei Tang's face flushed slightly. She retorted softly, "Of course I remember..."

Ai Cao tried to smooth things over for the little girl: "Oh dear, Qingyun, don't you remember what happened when you were a little fox?" She received a cold glare from Qingyun, but still smiled and said, "Her age isn't even a fraction of your lifetime, don't make things difficult for her."

Qingyun snorted and turned away without saying a word.

They laughed and joked around for a while, and then they saw a towering mountain peak.

Ai Cao took a paper scroll out of her pocket, squinted as she unfolded it, looked at the mountain in front of her, and asked, "...Is this the right place?"

Qingyun nodded, her voice hesitant as she spoke: "...Yes."

But the mountain in front of them was completely different from the one two years ago.

At the foot of the mountain, the gate was bustling with activity, with a constant stream of people coming and going; the mountain gate at the lower mountainside was magnificent, with several large characters written in a flamboyant style; higher up, however, it was shrouded in clouds and mist, making it difficult to see from the outside.

Ai Cao smiled and said, "I still don't know what Yao Yao's sect is called."

The broadsword beneath her feet had already begun to descend automatically. Qingyun impatiently waved his hand, adding a surge of spiritual energy that made it fall even faster.

The three landed on the ground.

Ai Cao sheathed the broadsword back into its scabbard.

They landed at the foot of the mountain, by the roadside.

Qingyun looked up and saw the three characters "Lingyao Sect" on the mountain gate in the distance. He smiled and said, "Lingyao Sect... Lingyao... she's quite good at using homophones."

The mugwort nodded.

Lei Tang wanted to go find her birth mother first, but Ai Cao and Qing Yun were worried about her going alone, so they both went with her. The settlement at the foot of the mountain had grown into a large-scale community, even more bustling than many small towns.

They took a few steps into the town and saw a woman staring at Ai Cao. Her gaze was intense yet cautious, scrutinizing Ai Cao's face from all angles for several seconds.

Ai Cao touched her face, but before she could find anything wrong, she heard the woman joyfully enter the house facing the street, shouting, "My benefactor is back—"

Then came the whispers among the "benefactors," each with a different tone and voice.

The doors and windows opened. Women of all ages rushed in, cheering, "Our benefactor is back!"

They were too enthusiastic, so Ai Cao took a step back behind Qing Yun, looking around for a place to run. But the women just stood on the side of the street, and even though the space was small and crowded, they didn't get too close to them.

Qingyun pushed the mugwort out and urged with a grin, "My benefactor, say something!"
