Chapter 12 The Last Girl in the Universe (12)

Artemisia and Jasmine stared at each other for half a second.

Artemisia went over first.

She lifted the man's boneless body and tapped his head hard.

The man's body trembled, and he opened his eyes timidly.

Nana said softly, "I have set up a new shielding mechanism for this warship and successfully intercepted the message he just sent."

Xia Moli walked over from the control panel. She set the jump point to the target point for this movement, glanced at the message report provided by Nana, and frowned in disgust.

"...Do you have a mother?" Xia Moli asked.

The message clearly stated, "Mother, save me."

Upon hearing this name that shouldn't exist in this world, Ai Cao lifted the man up and shook him, then folded his hand behind his back and pressed it against the wall.

"Me neither, cough, I popped out of a crack in the rock." The man spat out a mouthful of blood. The aura that once belonged to someone in a high position had completely vanished under the repeated rubbing of the mugwort.

"Are you asking your mother for help?" Xia Moli then asked.

"So what if it is?" the man laughed. His smile, combined with his distorted face, made him look even more ferocious.

"Your mother is a man, right?" Ai Cao said casually. "Anyway, she's definitely not a woman."

She poked the man's face, which had been squeezed against the wall, and laughed, "Am I right?"

The man fell silent. He glared angrily at Ai Cao, as if he had forgotten the suffering he had endured. But when Ai Cao slapped him twice more, the anger in his eyes died down.

“You’re right,” the man said timidly.

In the man's blind spot, Xia Moli silently breathed a sigh of relief.

Ai Cao continued her interrogation: "Who is the mother you mentioned, your relative?"

“…He is the ‘mother’ of every star cluster leader.” The man said with difficulty, “When I took office, I was required to pledge allegiance to him… He made us call him ‘mother’.”

"Oh, the guy killed the girl, and now he's thinking about her again," Ai Cao casually summarized.

Xia Moli closed her eyes and asked coldly, "Do you have the right to perform a jump in this star system?"

The man was silent for a moment. Impatiently, Ai Cao grabbed his head and slammed him against the wall.

If you don't bribe these spineless bastards, they won't know who holds the power right now.

He whispered, "...Yes."

"That's settled then." Ai Cao released her grip. The man's body slipped from her hands, fell to the ground, and she kicked him over, revealing his tightly closed eyes.

“He seems to have fainted,” Nana said softly. “I also have some questions I want to ask him. Let me do it.”

“…Then I’ll leave it to you.” Xia Moli closed her eyes again. She took a deep breath and regained her composure.

She and Ai Cao watched as the robot dragged away the man's limp body.

Ai Cao yawned and asked Xia Moli, "Is there anything else? I want to go to sleep."

“…That’s all.” Xia Moli shook her head. She picked up the screen she had already viewed once and scrolled up and down aimlessly.

Artemisia sighed softly.

The system asked, "Aren't you going to comfort the female lead?"

The mugwort countered, "Why should we appease you?"

The system was stumped by her question. After muttering for a while, it finally came up with an answer: "Because the female protagonists are all... fragile? In these worlds, they are all vulnerable and helpless, and they are the ones who are saved by the male protagonists."

“Look at Xia Moli, where does she seem weak or helpless?” Ai Cao said speechlessly. “Her mental strength is now over 5 seconds. Can you measure the exact value of her current mental strength?”

The system hesitated for a moment before whispering, "No."

“That’s settled then.” Ai Cao looked calmly at Xia Moli holding the light screen. “She’s not fragile, nor is she helpless. I beat up the male lead not so that I could become the male lead myself.”

“That makes sense.” The system figured it out. “You’re a girl, so you can’t be the male lead. It’s better if this world doesn’t have a male lead, or even better if there aren’t any men at all!”

Ai Cao was amused by the system's simple wish: "Do you really want this world to have no men? If it were all women, wouldn't this world be destroyed?"

The system confidently asserted: "It's true, not fake! Women won't destroy the world. Women are kind and compassionate, I love them."

“Yes, I am kind and compassionate,” Ai Cao chuckled.

The system fell silent.

Ai Cao didn't greet Xia Moli, who was lost in thought. She went straight back to her room, took a shower, and then leaned against the window to look outside for a while.

The universe of this world is larger than she currently knows. How can she and her two current companions continue to exist and operate stably?

...Could all the men in the world disappear? Is it possible to leave some out?

Thinking about this, Ai Cao slowly fell asleep.

The room door opened silently.

A small robot stood in the doorway. Its mechanical eyes quietly stared at the sleeping mugwort.
