Cen Yu asked with a cold laugh, "You want to help me manage the company? I had no idea that Miss Ai Cao had the idea of managing the company—and I also don't know what Miss Ai Cao has been busy with for the past six months! I've never seen you in the company before!"
"Oh, is this Miss Ai Cao's first time at the company today?" Sharp words flowed from Cen Yu's mouth, becoming a spear she held in her hand to attack her old friend. "Should I hire a guide for Miss Ai Cao, so you don't get lost?"
Artemisia shook her head with her mouth closed.
She could tell that Cen Yu wasn't in a good state, so she had no intention of escalating the conflict.
But Cen Yu still wouldn't let her off the hook. Taking advantage of the fact that Ai Cao wasn't refuting her, she continued to occupy the moral high ground: "Our Miss Ai Cao is so considerate of her employees—oh, anyone who didn't know better would think she's already a hired employee, but they're all people who didn't even pass the first interview!"
"It's true that there is genuine affection and love in the world. Why don't you share your money with them so they don't have to suffer outside anymore?" Cen Yu raised the corners of her mouth and revealed an exaggerated smile. "So all you do is talk a good game, but I don't see you actually do anything."
“I’m raising the bar?” Cen Yu raised her hand, pointing to the closed conference room door, and said, “You’ve never been with women who like men before! But I have! Just listening to them talk about their fathers, husbands, and sons—it drives me crazy!”
“She talks about how good her husband is every day, but what’s so good about him?” Cen Yu gagged exaggeratedly. “She says her husband doesn’t shower, doesn’t change his socks, and even his pillowcase is covered in oil and saliva! And other women are laughing at him.”
"They're no longer individuals, they're slaves! How much more do you expect me to value those inhuman creatures?" Cen Yu said with a sneer. "I find them too noisy to use as expendable resources!"
"If you're so compassionate, why doesn't the Bodhisattva come down and invite you to sit in her seat?" Cen Yu laughed and scolded her. "So it's because you like them all! Whether they're human or ghost, you like them all!"
“False compassion,” Cen Yu said. She appeared somewhat calmer, but she was still angry: “You can’t save anyone! My methods are the only ones that can save those who deserve to be saved!”
Artemisia sighed softly.
The system advised her in her mind: "The female lead isn't in a good state right now, so you should let her have her way."
Ai Cao retorted to the system, "Should I continue to give in to her?"
She had already made her concession. She had allowed Cen Yu to utter those words out of consideration for their past relationship and for Cen Lan's sake. Now that Cen Yu's insults were becoming increasingly outrageous, Ai Cao could no longer tolerate it.
Ai Cao glanced at Cen Lan. Cen Lan was casually holding Feng An with one hand, smiling as she sipped her tea. Feng An just sat there, his arm on the conference table pressing down hard, making the solid tabletop creak with a dull sound.
Ai Cao and Cen Lan quickly exchanged a glance.
Cen Lan's beautiful eyes slowly narrowed, revealing wrinkles at the corners of her eyes that were hard to hide, and that she didn't need to hide.
She gently lifted her teacup and smiled as she greeted the mugwort.
Ai Cao knew she had received permission for all subsequent actions.
She stood up when she saw Cen Yu staring straight at her, his eyes practically spitting fire.
She was taller and stronger than Cen Yu. Even though Cen Yu wasn't short for her age, she was still nearly 20 centimeters shorter than Ai Cao. When Ai Cao was sitting, the height difference wasn't so obvious, which is why Cen Yu had been able to scold her so freely.
But when Ai Cao stood up, Cen Yu instinctively sensed a threat.
Artemisia doesn't need to say anything. As long as she stands here, she is a slowly breathing volcano, gradually awakening from its slumber.
Cen Yu cautiously took a step back. But she quickly realized she shouldn't back down—she was completely right in this matter.
Therefore, she took another big step forward, tilting her head back to firmly resist the oppressive aura emanating from the mugwort.
The pendant around Ai Cao's neck felt slightly warm, then subsided.
It is anticipating slaughter.
But there was no man around, so it disappointedly returned to the depths of the pendant.
It knew that the mugwort wouldn't be used to kill any woman.
Ai Cao calmly bent down towards Cen Yu. She stared into Cen Yu's eyes and said calmly, "Please take back what you just said."
Cen Yu said coldly, "I will not take back a single word I have said."
Ai Cao smiled slightly, but the smile didn't reach her eyes: "I need to be responsible for the people I've helped. You are someone I've helped, so I need to be responsible for you—you can criticize what I say, but you can't infer what kind of person I am from my words and then criticize that kind of me."
“I don’t need you to take responsibility, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what I said—” Cen Yu arrogantly raised her chin even higher, “I take responsibility for myself.”
“Excellent.” Ai Cao straightened up. She calmly pulled the chair back a little and picked up her glass of lukewarm water, which had gone cold.
Feng An asked softly, "Guest..."
Ai Cao smiled slightly. She shrugged, downed the glass of cold water in one gulp, and placed the empty glass back on the table.
Artemisia said, "It seems our fate has come to an end."
Cen Yu frowned. She asked in an unfriendly tone, "What are you going to do?"
Ai Cao said, "Although it's a pity, Ms. Cen Lan invested five million in my startup, allowing me to start a small game company."
She said slowly, "Of course, it's an all-female team."
