The mugwort remained silent for a while.
The ball of light said understandingly, "Would you like to rest for a while?"
Ai Cao shook her head. She had roughly figured out the cause and effect of the matter, but she still needed to sort it out herself.
First of all, she does indeed come from this small world.
Just as she remembered, this little world was indeed destroyed by a man.
Unlike the female protagonists of other small worlds, Jiang Ai in this world did not develop romantic relationships with any men.
Although this is also related to the fact that this world is a "male protagonist" world—all the settings in this world, including but not limited to the matriarchal clan, are prepared for that little boy with the surname Ji.
Artemisia quickly searched for her memories.
That was a long time ago.
The man who transmigrated to this world, disguised as a young boy with the surname Ji... built a harem in this world, unified the world, and became the first human emperor.
Matriarchal clan?
It was just a setup to make it easier for him to build a harem.
The chieftain of the Jiang tribe died in an "accident." The male protagonist naturally rose to power as the new chieftain, surrounded by women.
He used "skills" to win over all the women of the Jiang tribe, and then expanded his harem to include tribes closer to the Jiang tribe. The surrounding tribes quickly merged under his "influence," and the women lived together happily.
Although they occasionally have conflicts, they are all just jealousy and rivalry over the male lead's attention.
Only ginger and mugwort are different.
On the very first day the male protagonist tried to win her over, she picked up a knife. She refused to allow such a man—a man who disregarded rules and had no sense of shame—to enter her tribe.
She lay in ambush in the room that night, intending to kill the male protagonist after he fell asleep.
But her mothers, who suddenly appeared in the male protagonist's room, stopped her.
They said that this child would be the future of the Jiang clan.
In her memories, they all seemed to have been bewitched. Each of Jiang Ai's mothers looked at her eagerly and affectionately invited her to join them.
Jiang Ai ran away.
She took all her stored provisions and left the tribe that very night.
Her mothers neither tried to stop her nor went out to look for her. As if Jiang Ai had never existed in their tribe, she vanished silently from their sight.
But the insatiable protagonist expands his territory. He takes more and more women into his harem, forcing Jiang Ai to run further and further away.
She wanted to find a partner to kill the male protagonist together.
However, she couldn't even find a single companion willing to listen to her properly.
Upon hearing the male lead's name, the women seemed to be under a spell, only asking if she liked him.
Those who had interacted with the male lead went even further. They would ask Jiang Ai if she wanted to have the male lead all to herself—which infuriated Jiang Ai so much that she walked alone to the ends of the earth.
The horizon meets the water.
The blue sky and blue water merged together. As far as the eye could see, there wasn't a single piece of land that would allow her to continue. Jiang Ai stood there blankly for a long time before finally confirming with dismay that this was indeed the end of the world.
She had traversed every tribe on this continent, yet she still hadn't encountered a single woman willing to join her in killing the male protagonist. It was as if she were the only one left in the world still resisting him.
She stood on a high rock, looking at the place where the sky and water met in the distance.
Jiang Ai wondered if she should do what other women did, for the male lead...
But she quickly dismissed the thought. Even though she hadn't found any companions yet, she was determined to try and kill the male protagonist, even alone.
Then she saw a woman with a human body and a snake's tail, picking up rocks of all sizes.
The woman was very tall, so tall that she had to hold up the sky with one hand to prevent it from falling on her head. Her face was expressionless; she simply picked up a rock, measured its size, threw it away, and picked up the next one.
Jiang Ai climbed over the rocks of varying heights, ran to her, and asked, "Would you like to listen to me?"
The woman with a human body and a snake tail stopped searching for rocks.
Her long, narrow, inhuman eyes looked at Jiang Ai.
Then, with a slight smile, she flicked her tail and lay down. The earth trembled violently. She flicked her long tail again, using its tip to prop up a corner of the sky, and asked Jiang Ai, "What do you want to say?"
Jiang Ai said loudly, "They've all changed since that man came."
The woman smiled and asked, "A man?"
Jiang Ai, no longer a little girl, nodded with a worried expression. She sat down next to the woman and slowly recounted her experiences.
The woman listened and chuckled softly.
Jiang Ai nervously finished recounting her past.
In this land, only this woman with a human body and a snake tail was willing to listen to Jiang Ai and listened to everything she said.
Seeing that Jiang Ai had finished speaking, the woman flicked her tail again and nimbly circled around her. The long snake tail formed a circle around Jiang Ai that wouldn't touch her at all.
The woman raised her hand again to support the sky. She asked, "Why have you come to the end of the sky?"
Jiang Ai said, "I want to find a partner who can fight against him together."
She grew up in a tribe.
The women in the tribe all know that when they encounter large prey, they should hunt together with their companions.
Jiang Ai knew she couldn't kill her mothers alone. Besides, her mothers were no longer mothers—they had stood in front of men, turning against their daughters for a man.
Jiang Ai mustered her courage and asked, "Would you like to come with me?"
