Chapter 348. The Heiress Turns Herself Away from Family After Opening the Book (The End)

The Crown Prince has vanished without a trace; this matter must not be spread.

The palace was in turmoil, and the court was in turmoil.

Meanwhile, in a secluded and tranquil courtyard in a picturesque place with spring-like weather all year round, Jin Shu leisurely sipped tea and basked in the sun, enjoying a rare moment of peace and quiet in this world.

Unfortunately, this peaceful period was soon shattered.

Because there was another courtyard next to hers, she knew without even guessing who the owner was.

Gao Yan, with his classic smile, moved closer to Jin Shu.

"I don't want you to marry me anymore. This is fine. I'll just live next to you and be able to see you every day."

"Why? Why not become emperor and come to this small place?"

"Being emperor is boring and exhausting. Before I came here, I entrusted everything to my brother. Don't worry, my brother is a very good person and will make good use of your son."

After he finished speaking, he had a look on his face as if he wanted a reward.

Jin Shu shook her head, squinted her eyes, and continued drinking her tea.

Oh well, let him be, just like a noisy fly.

Spring came and autumn went, cold came and heat went, and Jin Shu lived in this small place year after year.

With nothing to do, I fish and tend to flowers. When the flowers bloom, I gather around the stove to brew tea. When the flowers wither, I take a boat trip. Life is simple and leisurely.

Jin Shu lived this kind of life for a very long time.

As Gao Yan had said, he never mentioned marriage again, treating him only as a friend. This man, who understood wind and snow and poetry, was a good dining companion.

Even so, Jin Shu still has to spend the remaining half of her time alone, time that belongs to her alone.

Ten years later, the three children had all started their own families and careers. Even though Jin Shu was no longer by their side, her name became the most important belief in the family, to be passed down from generation to generation.

Having had enough of this kind of life, Jin Shu died with a calm and fearless heart.

She chose the most comfortable way to die: she developed a perfume for herself that, with just a whiff, allowed her to depart without pain, as if she had a good sleep and a long dream.

When she woke up, she returned to that familiar place, where Arno was waiting for her.

"I've been waiting for you for a long time."

When did you arrive?

"After you complete your task."

Jin Shu closed her eyes, letting her soul float, and murmured softly.

"You can be a little later, I don't mind waiting a bit longer."

Arno, however, said...

"I'm not used to making others wait for me."

He didn't know when she would be willing to come back, so arriving early was always a good idea.

"You did an excellent job on this task, so giving you the time privilege was the right thing to do."

Arno praised Jin Shu again. From his initial cold attitude to his current gentle tone, after one world after another, although they had only spent a very short time together, they seemed to have developed some tacit understanding with each other.

One praised, the other laughed.

"Thank you, I will continue to work hard."

“I know you see all of this as repaying a debt of gratitude. I appreciate your chivalry. Besides you, I doubt there is another person in the world who is so grateful.”

Jin Shu owes no one any favors in her life, but if she does, she will repay them a hundredfold or a thousandfold.

What's more, she owes Arno a life to avenge her.

She couldn't remember many things from that original world, but she remembered the love, the fighting and killing very clearly.

Grateful to Arno for giving her a chance, Jin Shu worked for him almost like her life depended on it. (End of Chapter)
