Chapter 167 The King of Hoarding in the Apocalypse (7)
As usual, it started raining outside, and the water level rose faster and faster. Seeing that the floors below the sixth floor were no longer habitable, Jin Shu abandoned the kayak and went to the city's largest auto parts market. Almost all the shops below the sixth floor were submerged, so Jin Shu had to go upstairs.
The seventh floor sells hardware accessories. The shops were mostly empty. Jin Shu picked up the items that were scattered on the ground because she didn't have time to take them with her.
Inside a shop, Jin Shu saw a lot of sound insulation cotton that she hadn't had time to take away, and even a large shock absorber. These things would seem useless to others, but Jin Shu treasured them and took them all.
There were clearly still people living inside. Jin Shu saw a shop that was closed and locked tightly, obviously to prevent theft. Jin Shu usually didn't touch shops that were already owned. She was here to collect materials for installing windows.
After collecting everything, she continued up to the eighth floor, which turned out to be a mattress store. These things were so big and heavy that no one was carrying them. Jin Shu picked out two of the best quality ones and took them with her. Then she circled around the store again. Finally, in the emergency room next to the ventilation duct on the eighth floor, Jin Shu saw what she had been longing for.
The diesel generator is specifically for supplying electricity to the shopping mall.
Jin Shu's mood improved instantly, and she immediately put the generator into her possession.
She didn't dare bring any random things today, just to make room for this big guy.
Not wanting to waste the remaining space, Jin Shu continued upstairs. As soon as she reached the rooftop, she was taken aback by what she saw.
This is actually a top-floor car repair shop!
No wonder a circular above-ground parking garage was installed around the shopping mall; that's why!
Most repair shops are located on the ground floor or in the underground parking lot, but this one is located on the top floor! They not only repair but also sell their services, and the space is quite large!
The apocalypse came suddenly, and cars couldn't be driven away at all. Some nearby residents even parked their cars here before the torrential rain flooded the city in order to protect their vehicles.
Everyone is now trapped and unable to move an inch. This place has obviously been visited many times by some knife-wielding gangs. Many car parts have been removed, leaving only the car frames.
Jin Shu opened the fuel tank, and unfortunately, every single one of them had its fuel tank completely emptied.
But it doesn't matter. Jin Shu has a sensitive nose. The smell of diesel is pungent, but if you sniff carefully, you can still smell the fresh diesel in the air.
Pushing open the door to the repair shop and following the smell, Jin Shu finally stopped, ripped open the tarpaulin in front of her, and saw neatly stacked oil drums.
I counted them roughly, and there were thirteen buckets in total, each about twenty liters in size.
Such a valuable item could not possibly have been hidden here for a long time. Someone must have discovered it and couldn't take it all in one trip, so they transported it in several trips.
If that's the case, then there must be someone watching over the area.
Jin Shu looked around, and finally walked to the shelf next to her. Through the gap in the shelf, she saw a pair of eyes staring straight ahead.
This was a strong man, dressed in thick polar clothing, with deerskin boots on his feet and a mink hat on his head. He looked like a black bear lying in ambush in the shadows.
At this moment, Jin Shu noticed what was hanging from his waist.
Her eyes lit up.
This is a gun, a homemade shotgun, extremely powerful.
Jin Shu was about to reach for it when she was immediately drawn to what the man was holding in his other hand.
Looking down, he saw a pink piece of fabric, clearly shaped like a woman's item, which he was currently clutching in his hand.
There was still blood on the fabric, and the bloodstains had dried for a short time. Jin Shu instantly understood what he had done not long ago.
She didn't show much emotion; she simply took the gun and searched his clothes inside and out.
Take this bag full of iron pellets.
The mink hat looks very warm; I'll take it.
Jin Shu disliked the clothes and shoes, which were filthy.
Just when Jin Shu thought there was nothing good left, she casually reached around her waist and touched something hard. She guessed what it was, and when she took it out, it was indeed something hard.
A black handgun.
Jin Shu had studied this thing in the game world, so she opened the magazine quite skillfully and checked the bullets inside; it was full.
Yes, this trip was quite fruitful.
After returning home, Jin Shu did not go out again. Instead, she started smashing walls and replacing windows.
She had to replace the three windows in the balcony, bedroom, and kitchen within twenty hours.
Although it took a lot of effort, the result was good. The temperature rose the next day, which accelerated the curing of the foam inside the window.
After more than ten hours of hammering and banging, the windows were finally replaced. Then Jin Shu nailed a layer of reinforced sheet metal inside the kitchen and bedroom windows, and installed steel pipes in a cross pattern.
The same goes for the living room. We can't care about sunlight or temperature now. We have to reinforce the windows inside and out as quickly as possible. Finally, we reinforced the waterproof layer on the roof of the community with sheet metal under the cover of night.
Finally, I finished all the work, and it was 6:01.
The temperature inside the room began to drop rapidly, and a bone-chilling cold seeped into every part of my body.
First light the stove fire, then turn on the heater.
The generator was quite noisy while running, so Jin Shu took out the sound insulation cotton and shock absorbers she had found that day. By adding a wooden board to the shock absorbers, lining the inside of the board with thick sound insulation cotton, and finally venting the bottom for heat dissipation, she placed the generator inside and used it. The noise level dropped significantly.
As long as the people outside couldn't hear it, Jin Shu confidently plugged in the heater and used it with the stove, and the surrounding temperature finally rose quite a bit.
Jin Shu put an iron mesh on the stove, boiled a pot of scallion and ginger water, drank it, and her frozen hands and feet slowly warmed up, and she even broke out in a thin layer of sweat.
Dinner was charcoal-grilled meat skewers, also taken from the cold storage. Some bagged skewers, with layers of beef and green peppers, were placed on a wire rack, sizzling with oil, and the aroma quickly spread.
Jin Shu ate a skewer and squinted her eyes in satisfaction.
She then grilled a few more skewers of lamb for herself. While the meat was grilling, she tossed a few frozen chestnuts next to the grill. The sweet aroma of the chestnuts mixed with the oily fragrance of the grilled meat, making Jin Shu's face flushed and her whole body feel warm and comfortable.
The rain outside was getting heavier and the wind was getting stronger.
If I remember correctly, the tornado should be coming in the next day or two.
However, Jin Shu was unsure if her memory was correct, and even less certain if the weather would suddenly change, so she began preparations early on to ensure everything was foolproof.
The night was long.
Jin Shu lay awake in her sleeping bag, unable to sleep.
Just then, the knocking on the door started again, this time louder and with even more people coming.
