Chapter 6 Catching Rabbits

Xiao Li was overjoyed to hear this. Although she didn't want to buy flower seeds, she was still happy to receive them for free. After paying, she took the items and walked into a small alley she had previously chosen. There weren't many people there, and seeing that no one was around, Xiao Li quickly put the items into her spatial storage and then walked out from the other side.

Returning to the wonton stall empty-handed, Yun Yuniang asked curiously, "Why didn't you buy any candied hawthorns?"

Xiao Li handed four coins to Yun Yuniang and replied, "I'll be back as soon as I'm done selling."

Yun Yuniang didn't ask for money: "Keep it, and buy whatever you like later."

Xiao Li happily put it into her small purse.

The wontons were just cooked, a big bowl of them served with green leafy vegetables and scallions, looking both beautiful and appetizing. Xiao Li was enjoying her first delicious meal after transmigrating.

After finishing their wontons, they found the oxcart to go back to the village. Everyone put their baskets away, sat around chatting, and swayed back to the village.

It was almost dark when they got home. Mo Qingshan and Mo Yunxiao had already returned from the fields. Hearing the sound, they quickly came out of the house, took the basket from him, and put it away.

"Mother, sister, please have some water. You must be tired. Sit down and rest." Mo Yunxiao poured two bowls of water.

"It's alright, I didn't buy anything heavy, this little bit isn't heavy." Yun Yuniang drank some water and took out two packets of pastries from her basket.

"You must be hungry. Have some pastries first, and I'll go cook."

"Mother, you should eat some too." Xiao Li picked up a piece of mung bean cake and put it in Yun Yuniang's mouth. Yun Yuniang quickly took it with her hand and ate it slowly.

"It's still early, let's rest a bit before we go." Mo Qingshan sat back down on the small stool and continued the work he hadn't finished.

"Little sister, is town fun?" Mo Yunxiao asked as she ate a piece of mung bean cake.

"It was so much fun! Mom even bought me a big meat bun, it was so delicious. She also bought new cloth to make us new clothes. Brother, let's go together next time and eat some fragrant wontons again," Xiaoli said with a smile.

After Yun Yuniang finished tidying up, she went into the kitchen to cook, and Xiao Li went in to help.

After the family finished eating, they washed up and rested. Once things quieted down, Xiaoli entered her spatial dimension to begin her grand project of growing vegetables.

In just two short days, the space has changed dramatically. The trees have grown taller, and the flowers we dug up are blooming beautifully. Perhaps the river water has a special spirit, as the flowers, grass, and trees are all thriving. Peach and pear trees are in bloom, creating a vibrant and flourishing scene.

Xiao Li sorted and planted the vegetables she bought, without even starting seedlings. She simply buried them in small holes, filled them with soil, and watered them with river water. She also planted saplings around the house, and casually scattered flower seeds on the open ground by the river. She watered them all and waited patiently for them to sprout.

After finishing her work, Xiaoli returned to bed and fell into a deep sleep.

For several days in a row, Xiaoli stayed at home making clothes with Yunyu Niang. She still had some residual memories, and after her hands became more skilled, she inherited the original owner's embroidery skills. She might not be as adept at embroidery yet, but she was good enough at making clothes.

After the clothes were finished, Xiaoli felt bored. Staying at home every day was really boring, and most importantly, she was craving meat.

Aside from a bowl of meat porridge, a few eggs, and a bowl of wontons, she hadn't tasted any other meat. Xiao Li felt she had to do something; there was no reason why everyone else who transmigrated could thrive while she couldn't.

Just then, Mo Xiaoyue came to ask her to pick mushrooms. She greeted her mother, picked up her basket, and went up the mountain.

This time we went to a small hill with sparse trees. The hill wasn't high, and the forest after the rain was filled with a fresh scent. The only problem was that the path was difficult to walk on. The outer path was paved with stones, which was fine, but once inside the forest, it became very damp, and the path was covered in mud and moss.

Xiao Li carefully watched her step and looked around, while Mo Xiao Yue was much more skilled. She led the way and walked straight into the woods.

Finally arriving at a pine forest, Mo Xiaoyue said, "Xiaoli, let's look around here. Don't go too far. Call me if you need anything." With that, she chose a direction and headed off.

Xiao Li responded and started looking for mushrooms. She wasn't in a hurry; mushrooms could indeed grow in the soil under the trees in her space. She often watered the soil there, and many mushrooms had sprouted in that area. If she didn't find any mushrooms later, she would just take more from her space. As she searched, she pondered how to catch rabbits and pheasants.

I've got it! The water in this space has a spiritual energy, and the vegetables inside are delicious. Maybe it can attract small animals.

After watching Mo Xiaoyue walk away, Xiaoli started looking for small animals. She took out the slightly grown bok choy from her space, placed it somewhere, and went to look for mushrooms, occasionally checking the bok choy to see if any small animals came by.

After a while, sure enough, a rabbit came over to eat the greens. It cautiously sniffed the aroma, then began to eat heartily. Xiao Li slowly approached, and afraid of scaring it away, she took out another small cabbage and held it out to the rabbit to tempt it.

After the rabbit finished eating the cabbage, it warily watched Xiaoli. The cabbage, however, still seemed to have the upper hand; the rabbit slowly crawled towards it and began to eat. While the rabbit was eating, Xiaoli thought of storing them away, and both the rabbit and the cabbage were taken into her spatial storage.

Xiao Li walked behind a big tree and entered her spatial dimension. The rabbit was eating vegetable leaves on the ground. This time, she caught it effortlessly. How happy she was! It was the first time she had ever caught a rabbit.

Xiao Li didn't linger. She picked some mushrooms, put them in her basket, and left the space with the rabbit. She called out to Mo Xiaoyue, "Sister Xiaoyue, come quick! Look, I caught a rabbit!"

She had already thought of her explanation: she would say that the object just happened to bump into her feet, and she covered it with her basket. People would just say she was lucky. Mo Xiaoyue arrived quickly and was also amazed.

"Xiaoli, you're amazing!" By this time, Mo Xiaoyue had also picked a small basket of mushrooms.

Xiao Li smiled smugly: "Sister Xiao Yue, come to my house for rabbit meat later. Invite your third aunt, third uncle, and Yunyang along."

"Look how smug you are. This rabbit isn't very big; it's not enough for so many people. You can add more food yourselves," Mo Xiaoyue refused.

"Then I'll take it home for you in a bit, and you can just wait to eat rabbit meat." The two sisters tied up the rabbit, put it in their baskets, covered it with some wild vegetables, and then went down the mountain.

Xiao Li learned about some wild vegetables from Mo Xiaoyue, such as shepherd's purse, water celery, and purslane... all of which are wild vegetables with a good taste.

The two parted ways at the village entrance and went home. Xiao Li walked briskly into her own yard.

"Mother, come quick! Look what I caught!" Xiao Li put down her basket and called into the house.

When Yun Yuniang came out of the house, she saw her daughter looking very happy.

"Oh, this rabbit is quite plump. I'll clean it and stew it with potatoes. I guarantee it will be fragrant and delicious." Yun Yuniang took the rabbit and went to the kitchen to cook.

When the father and son returned home that evening, they praised Xiaoli profusely, sent a bowl of food to their aunt's family, and then the whole family enjoyed a good meal. They all smiled contentedly.
