Chapter 239 Flying Over the Nursing Home (Part 1)

The eldest son, Tong Zhengbang, put the luggage into the trunk, while the second son, Tong Zhengliang, and the youngest daughter, Tong Zhengzheng, helped Xiaoli into the car.

"Mom, call us if anything happens, we'll come over, don't be afraid."

"What could possibly happen at a nursing home? I heard it's a five-star nursing home, and lots of rich people live there."

The second son initially only planned to let the old lady stay in a three-star hotel, but the other two disagreed. In the end, the family pooled together 50,000 yuan and chose this five-star hotel, so he has been holding his breath ever since.

Tong Zhengzheng rolled her eyes at her second brother. "Mom, don't worry. The environment there is nice. You can chat with your friends, drink tea, watch plays, play cards, and it will be more lively."

Xiao Li glanced at her youngest daughter. It sounded quite nice, but unfortunately, that was only on the surface.

Seeing that the old lady remained silent, Tong Zhengliang scratched his head.

"Mom, I misspoke. If you're bored, just call me and the three of us will come over to keep you company."

Xiao Li then spoke, "You're so kind. From now on, that will be my home."

The three of them felt a little uneasy after hearing this. It was a good thing that the old lady had agreed, so why did it feel so strange?

We arrived at the nursing home quickly. It was located in a remote area to ensure a quiet and peaceful environment. It occupied a large area, supposedly to provide space for the elderly to move around.

Xiao Li nodded in satisfaction. The location was good; with some further improvements, it would be a great place to retire.

"Welcome, welcome! The old lady has three wonderful children. From now on, we are family."

Surrounded by people, Xiao Li completed the formalities. She insisted on living alone, and in the end, the dean reluctantly arranged a single room for her.

The original owner was just too good-natured. She also wanted to stay in a single room, but the headmaster said that it would be more lively with more people and that they could take care of each other. Her children also persuaded her otherwise.

The original owner did not insist and moved into a four-person room.

Two people in that room were unable to move and could only lie in bed. The other person who could move was also aloof, and the four of them did not get along well.

Xiao Li didn't care what he said; she insisted on living alone. If they didn't give her a single room, she would go home, and everyone agreed.

After Xiaoli put her things away, the dean was smiling as he saw his three children out of the office. He had just received 150,000 yuan, which had soothed the old lady's anger at being disobedient.

"Mom, we'll head back now."

Xiao Li waved her hand, "You guys go back, don't worry about me."

The three children were stunned, feeling quite uncomfortable, as if they were the ones who had been abandoned.

After her children left, Xiaoli started wandering around.

She felt tired after walking around for a while. Xiaoli thought about it and decided to go back to her room to rest and recover before continuing the fight.

As soon as she reached the door, she heard the sound of things being rummaged through inside the room.

"What are you doing?"

A caregiver in a white uniform was bending over, rummaging through Xiaoli's luggage.

This person is named Chen Hua. On the first day the original owner arrived, she searched her luggage and took all the valuables.

When the original owner asked her for it, she even offered to keep it safe, afraid that the original owner would lose it.

In the end, the original owner never got the items back before his death.

"Ah...you're back. I'm unpacking your luggage now. Once everything is organized, it'll be easier to find things later."

Chen Hua said somewhat awkwardly, putting her luggage bag down with both hands.

Xiao Li could tell she was lying at a glance, but there was nothing valuable in the luggage, just some changes of clothes and daily necessities.

"Okay, you pack it up, I'll keep an eye on it."

Xiao Li sat down in a chair, poured herself a glass of water, and then began to give instructions.

"These clothes need to be hung up, yes, otherwise they'll get wrinkled."

"These shoes need to be placed on that shoe rack over there, and they need to be wrapped in a bag, otherwise they'll get dusty."

"I wore these pants yesterday and haven't had a chance to wash them yet. Could you wash them for me later?"

"Put the toothpaste and toothbrush cup on the sink over there."

Chen Hua wanted to leave, but seeing Xiao Li's posture, she hesitated.

After finally getting everything organized, Xiaoli spoke up again.

"This room is too empty. I also need a dressing table, a wardrobe, a desk and a stool."

Also, buy me some skincare products. Even though I'm a bit old, everyone wants to look good, right?

Chen Huamu nodded blankly and went out to report to the dean.

Xiao Li climbed into bed contentedly. She had gotten up too early this morning, so she decided to sleep a little longer.

?

"I understand, you can leave now."

When Chen Hua came out of the dean's office, she was still in a daze.

She didn't know why she was being so obedient, but she had a gut feeling that the old woman was suspicious. A chill ran down her spine; she resolved to stay far away from that old woman from now on.

The dean was also quite troubled. The old lady had just arrived and had many demands, and he couldn't very well refute them all, lest she make a phone call and cause trouble.

So, he delivered the items as Xiaoli requested.

Xiao Li woke up feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep, but why hadn't the food been delivered yet? She found it very inconvenient.

It would be so convenient to have an alarm call bell; I definitely need to get that installed in the future, and I'll write it down in my notebook.

She went to the dining room, where elderly people who can take care of themselves eat. She arrived a little late, and there wasn't much food left.

"Stir-fried shredded potatoes, stir-fried cabbage, braised tofu, why isn't there any meat?"

The woman serving the food pointed to an empty plate next to her, "You're late, there's nothing left."

Xiao Li angrily threw down the bowl, "We paid so much money, and this is what we get to eat?"

The woman serving the food threw down her spoon and walked away.

What kind of attitude is this? Xiao Li looked around. The old people were all silent. It wasn't that no one had made a fuss before, but they were only met with even more neglect. There was nothing they could do about it.

Xiao Li understood; it was just a habit.

Xiao Li stuck a bad luck charm on the vegetable-serving lady, and then the lady's face was swollen from being hit by a flying spoon. Xiao Li left only after watching the good show.

She took the empty bowl to the dean's office. The dean was about to eat. The meal consisted of five dishes and a soup, with one serving each of chicken, duck, fish, and meat, plus a vegetable and tofu dish, and a pork rib soup.

"Tsk tsk tsk... What a feast!"

The dean's face darkened. "Who gave you permission to wander around like this? Is this a place you can come to?"

Xiao Li sat down by herself, took out her chopsticks, and started eating.

"This chicken is good..."

"This pork rib soup is too oily..."

"This cabbage is quite crunchy..."

"This fish is delicious..."

The dean's face darkened even more. "Is this still edible?"

"I'll let it go today, but you can't do this again, do you hear me?"

Xiao Li used a mental suggestion on the dean, "I am your master, you will listen to me in everything."

The dean's eyes glazed over for a moment, then quickly returned to normal. "Okay."

Xiao Li finished her meal with satisfaction. "I'll make this every day from now on, but keep the rib soup light."

"OK."
