Chapter 6 The Female Supporting Character's Counterattack in the Entertainment Industry

003 curled up in a pitiful ball, "But, host, these are all the hottest topics right now..."

“I want scripts that can truly impress me, not mass-produced copies.” A sharp glint flashed in Lin Qian’s eyes. “I want roles that allow me to unleash my acting skills and challenge myself.”

Just then, a script was handed to Lin Qian.

"Take a look at this, you might be interested."

The man who handed over the script was tall and slender with deep-set features and an air of scholarly refinement. He was the director of an art film that Lin Qian had previously worked with, and one of the few people Lin Qian admired.

Lin Qian took the script and was immediately captivated by the title—"Crime and Punishment."

"This is a story about redemption, about a woman who has committed a crime and how she seeks redemption amidst remorse and struggle." The director's voice was deep and magnetic. "I know this role is very challenging for you, but I believe you can play her well."

Lin Qian flipped through the script, becoming increasingly alarmed. This character was unlike any she had ever played before; she was complex, contradictory, and full of human struggles, demanding extremely high acting skills from the actress.

"So? Are you interested?" The director looked at Lin Qian with a hint of anticipation in his eyes.

Lin Qian closed the script, took a deep breath, and smiled confidently. "Okay, I'll take it."

The filming process of "Crime and Punishment" was more difficult than Lin Qian had imagined. The character she played had an extremely rich inner life. From the initial confusion and helplessness, to the fear and remorse after committing a crime, and finally to self-redemption, she had to grasp the emotional changes at each stage perfectly.

Lin Qian would often ponder over a single glance or gesture, sometimes even losing sleep over it. The crew members felt sorry for her, but Lin Qian enjoyed it immensely. She relished the feeling of challenging herself, as if she had truly become the character in the drama, experiencing her joys and sorrows.

During the filming of a scene where Lin Qian was emotionally distraught, she struggled to get into character. The director yelled "cut" countless times in frustration. "Lin Qian, what's wrong with you? This scene is so emotionally important. If you're not in the right frame of mind, take a break and we'll film it again when you're ready!"

Lin Qian shook her head. She didn't know what was wrong with her. She had made all the preparations, but when it came to the actual filming, she felt an invisible pressure on her heart, making it hard for her to breathe.

"Would you like to take a break?" the director suggested.

Just as Lin Qian was about to agree, 003's voice suddenly rang in her mind, "Host, don't be discouraged! Think about what the original owner went through, think about those who hurt her, and think about your target for revenge!"

Lin Qian suddenly opened her eyes, and the original owner's tragic fate flashed through her mind. Those unforgettable hatreds instantly ignited the anger in her heart.

"Again!" Lin Qian's eyes became firm and resolute.

This time, she did not disappoint the director. She portrayed the character's breakdown and despair to the fullest, with tears falling like beads from a broken string and her cries heart-wrenching, as if she wanted to vent all her pain.

"Cut!" the director shouted excitedly, "Great! That take is a wrap!"

The entire crew erupted in thunderous applause, everyone captivated by Lin Qian's superb acting skills.

Lin Qian seemed completely exhausted, collapsing to the ground, panting heavily, tears still on her face, yet a relieved smile appeared on her face.

She knew that she had finally overcome her inner demons and was one step closer to her goal.

As expected, "Crime and Punishment" achieved great success after its release. Lin Qian's acting skills were unanimously recognized by the audience and industry professionals. With this film, she won several Best Actress awards and became a well-deserved film queen.

However, just when Lin Qian's career was at its peak, she suddenly made a surprising decision—to retire from the entertainment industry.

Lin Qian's announcement of her retirement from the entertainment industry was like a bomb exploding on a calm lake. Immediately, all sorts of speculations and discussions arose, and fans cried and begged their goddess not to leave.
