Chapter 9: Educated Youth Sent Down to the Countryside (8)

The train sped along the tracks, the noise inside the carriages rising and falling, but it did nothing to disturb Lin Qian's "feigned sleep." She kept her eyes tightly closed, trying to reduce contact with the outside world and avoid unnecessary trouble. However, physiological needs were ultimately inescapable; the need to eat, drink, and use the toilet forced her to leave her seat intermittently.

Although Lin Qian had tried to minimize the number of times she went out, these necessary actions still forced her to get up. Each time, she would finish the task as quickly as possible, then hurried back to her seat and continue pretending to be asleep.

Just as Lin Qian was trying to avoid trouble, something happened at the other end of the carriage. A young girl, like Lin Qian, was a sent-down youth who unfortunately encountered something similar to what the original owner of the body had experienced in her previous life.

The young girl's name was Xiaoyan. She was innocent and kind-hearted, full of wonderful expectations and dreams for her trip to the countryside. However, unlike Lin Qian, she didn't maintain a high level of vigilance. On her way back to her seat from the restroom, a sleazy-looking man blocked her path.

"Little girl, you're quite pretty. Why don't you keep your brother company for a chat?" The man smiled maliciously, his eyes brazenly scanning Xiaoyan.

Xiaoyan felt a surge of fear wash over her. She tried to walk around the man, but he followed her every move, pressing closer and closer.

"What do you want to do? Let me go!" Xiaoyan's voice trembled with fear.

Instead of restraining himself, the man became even bolder in touching Xiaoyan inappropriately.

At this point, although the people around noticed what was happening, most chose to observe and not want to get involved. Only a few kind-hearted people tried to speak up and dissuade him, but the man completely ignored their pleas.

"This poor girl has run into such a scoundrel," an older woman muttered under her breath.

"Yeah, that guy is too arrogant. He dares to do that in broad daylight," a young man next to him chimed in.

Just as Xiaoyan felt hopeless and helpless, Lin Qian happened to pass by. Seeing the scene before her, her sense of justice was instantly ignited. Without the slightest hesitation, she strode forward.

"Let her go!" Lin Qian shouted.

The man turned his head and looked at Lin Qian, a hint of contempt in his eyes.

"Hey, who do you think you are? Mind your own business!" the man said arrogantly.

Lin Qian was not intimidated by the man's attitude. She stared at him firmly and said, "How dare you bully a little girl in broad daylight? Is there no law anymore?"

The man was momentarily stunned by Lin Qian's imposing aura, but quickly regained his arrogant demeanor, saying, "The law? Here, I am the law! What can you do to me?"

Lin Qian sneered and said, "Don't think no one can deal with you. I'm going to find the train conductor right now and see how long you can keep up your arrogance!"

Upon hearing that he needed to find the train conductor, the man's expression changed slightly. He knew that if the conductor discovered his actions, he would be in serious trouble. So, he glared fiercely at Lin Qian, released Xiaoyan's hand, and ran off cursing.

"It's a good thing this kid ran fast, otherwise he would have been in big trouble," an older man said.

“Exactly, we shouldn’t tolerate people like that,” another person chimed in.

Xiaoyan looked at Lin Qian gratefully, her eyes still filled with tears.

"Thank you. I really don't know what I would have done without you," Xiaoyan said, her voice trembling.

Lin Qian patted Xiaoyan's shoulder and comforted her, "It's alright now. Just be more careful when you're out and about in the future and take good care of yourself."

After saying that, Lin Qian accompanied Xiaoyan back to her seat.

Not long after, the train conductor arrived.

"What happened?" the train conductor asked.

The people around them told the train conductor what had happened.

After hearing this, the train attendant said seriously, "Don't worry, everyone. We will increase patrols in the carriages and prevent this from happening again."

Afterwards, the train attendant calmed Xiaoyan down before leaving.

After this incident, the people in the carriage began to pay more attention to their own safety, and Lin Qian's bravery made everyone look at her with new respect.
