Chapter 111 The Troublemakers of the Nineties 13

Zhou Mingming looked at the dirty flip-flops on the ground and couldn't put his feet in them. He looked at the shop owner and said dryly, "I...I just bought these shoes, they're a famous brand, they cost hundreds of dollars, and you...I only owe you seven dollars, you..."

The boss put away his smile and glared at me, "What? You mean I'm blackmailing you? I own such a big store here, how can I blackmail you for a pair of shoes? Come back with money to redeem them, and I will definitely return them to you intact. We are a small business, we can't take advantage of you and take advantage of you like you do. If I keep doing this for free, my store will go bankrupt sooner or later."

How can you talk like that? Who's the idiot? Zhou Mingming scratched his head irritably. He didn't want to take off his shoes, but his head was dizzy and he couldn't think of any quick wits. Just when he was in a dilemma, he glanced and saw someone he knew: "Hey, Hu Yan, Sister Yan'er——"

Hu Yan is a colleague of Zhou Mingming's mother, Zhu Cuifang. She was working the day shift today and had just left home and was walking towards the bus stop when she heard someone calling her. She looked towards the voice and said, "Hey, Zhou Mingming! You're not up so early. Are you exercising?"

Zhou Mingming seemed to have found a savior. He took two quick steps and grabbed Hu Yan's arm: "Sister Yan'er, lend me ten yuan. I'll ask my mother to pay you back later."

Hu Yan looked at the man and woman with stern faces behind him and asked: "What's wrong? Did they bully you?" That wouldn't do. She, Hu Yan, was a protective person. No matter what, this stinky girl still called her sister.

Zhou Mingming shook his head embarrassedly: "No, I went to his shop to have breakfast, and I was in a hurry to leave after eating, so I forgot to bring money."

Oh, so that's what's going on. Hu Yan quickly took out ten yuan from her small bag and handed it to him: "Is that enough?"

"That's enough, thank you, Sister Yan'er. You should go first, otherwise you will be late." Zhou Mingming took the money and asked Hu Yan to leave quickly.

After handing the money to the boss, the boss gave him three dollars in change, his eyes lingering on his feet for several times, and he seemed to be quite regretful.

Zhou Mingming was no longer sleepy after what happened, but had a headache. He had three dollars in his pocket and suddenly remembered that he was responsible for three meals a day for his family. He was reluctant to take the bus for three stops, so he bought a piece of tofu and walked home with it.

After arriving home, he sat on the sofa with his eyes wide open for a while, then remembered that his father took him out for dinner and ran away without paying the bill and even took away the food. He looked at the closed door of his parents' room, unsure whether to knock on the door to argue with his father or just go to bed.

As my thoughts struggled, my eyelids gradually became heavy, and slowly, I fell asleep on the sofa.

It felt like I had just closed my eyes when I was awakened by the sound of doors opening and closing as his mother came home from get off work.

Ling Shuang saw him dozing off on the sofa and nudged him: "Are you still asleep? Go back to your room and sleep. Don't just doze off here."

Zhou Mingming stood up, half asleep and half awake, and staggered towards his room. His remaining rationality made him take off his coat and trousers, but just as he lay down on the bed, Ling Shuang followed him in:

"What were you doing last night? I was on the night shift, and you weren't home when I left at around 8:00. Where were you? You didn't even make dinner."

Zhou Mingming thought that something was wrong, but he couldn't open his eyes or mouth. Fortunately, Ling Shuang was just asking, and seeing that he was really sleepy, she didn't force him to answer the question. Instead, she pulled the quilt over him, and when she left, she drew the curtains and closed the door.

The world was quiet, and Zhou Mingming finally fell into a deep sleep.

Ling Shuang returned to her bedroom and saw Lin Yi sleeping soundly on the bed: It seems that the father and son had something to do last night?

I went to the kitchen and looked around. Everything was fine. I bought her breakfast. After she had a simple meal and cleaned up some things, she went to sleep.

At 11 o'clock in the morning, Zhou Mingming was awakened from his deep sleep by two alarm clocks. He turned off the alarm clock on the bedside table and the one on the windowsill. He pulled the quilt over his head and wanted to ignore it, but the sound was endless and annoying.

I struggled to the windowsill and picked up the alarm clock, only to find a note on it: "It's time to cook. If you don't cook, you have to pay me back. If you don't cook, you have to go to work."

ah--!

So annoying.

He stood there mad for a while, then resigned himself to his fate and went to the kitchen to wash rice and cook.

He hadn't had time to buy vegetables today, and he wasn't in the mood to look at the new recipe. He just took a head of cabbage from the refrigerator, started chopping it, and put it in the pot. He also started chopping the tofu he had bought that morning and put that in the pot as well.

He opened the freezer again and found a box of shrimps. He rinsed them under the tap and threw them into the pot.

There is still half a box of beef slices in the refrigerator. I don’t want to defrost them and just throw them into the pot.

He grabbed the soy sauce, oyster sauce, chicken essence and salt on the stove and added them all at once. Without waiting for the water to boil, he poured the water from the thermos directly into the pot.

Turn on the fire and reduce the heat to low.

Four dishes and one soup, all in one pot!

Then he walked straight back to the room and lay down instantly.

He slept until dark. When he woke up, he could still hear the opening music of the news broadcast coming from the TV in the living room.

He lay in bed with his eyes open for a long time before he came to his senses. He didn't want to leave the room, but his bladder was about to explode, so he really walked out. He secretly speculated: This 900-yuan living fund will probably have to be returned. What kind of temporary job will his father find for him?

He rushed to the bathroom like a gust of wind and took a long time to come out. He had decided that doing housework was not really suitable for him. If they insisted on disqualifying him later, he would accept it.

But if they make a fuss about him not coming home all night, he will definitely call his grandmother and complain about his father playing in the game hall all night and not coming back.

But when he came out to the living room, Lin Yi and Ling Shuang were watching the news on TV seriously, not even looking at him. He made small talk: "Mom, have you eaten?"

Ling Shuang gave him a smile and said, "Eat it, son, you have talent. The stew you made today is really good. The taste and the cooking time are just right."

Lin Yi also said, "I thought I had to cook instant noodles secretly, but I didn't expect you to improve so quickly. It's really delicious, and the rice is just the right softness."

Zhou Mingming:........Is this true? He went to the kitchen with a question mark in his head, wanting to taste it, but the pot was clean, with nothing left.

Zhou Mingming: "Dad, you guys, did you eat it all? It's such a big pot."

Lin Yi: "Oh, no, we threw away the rest. Leftovers contain nitrites. We never eat leftovers at home. Did you forget?"

Zhou Mingming: Huh? But I haven't eaten anything yet.
