Huang Mao was two years older than him and was also expelled from school in his second year of junior high school because he always wore strange clothes and had strange hair color. He was also caught smoking and fighting in school many times by the teacher. He refused to change despite repeated warnings.
Huangmao has a stepmother. After his stepmother came to his house, his biological father gradually became his stepfather. Regarding Huangmao's situation, the teacher invited his parents several times, but his parents did not come and did not care at all. It seemed that they had given up on their son.
Later, Huangmao stopped going to school and no one cared.
Perhaps, the teacher felt regretful but also relieved.
Zhou Mingming looked at the yellow-haired man dressed like a typical businessman and couldn't help but shudder. "Lunzi, what have you been doing these past two years since you went to school? Do your parents still care about you? Do they even give you money to buy cigarettes?"
Huang Mao spitted and said, "Give his mother money. My mother ran away a long time ago and has not come back in these years. She may have forgotten that she has a son like me."
He blew out a smoke ring with a lonely expression and added, "Don't even mention my dad. I haven't been back to that house for over a year. He's afraid I'll lead his son astray, so he told me to get out. He said he'd pretend I never was born, and if he sees me again, he'll break my legs."
Zhou Mingming had never known Huangmao's predicament was so dire. "So...how are you now? You're only sixteen, right? How have you been supporting yourself these past two years?"
Huangmao spat a mouthful of yellow phlegm on the ground and twisted it with his foot nonchalantly. "God won't let a blind sparrow starve to death. It's not easy to make a lot of money, but isn't it easy to support yourself?"
He waved at Zhou Mingming and whispered a few words in his ear. Then he smiled with a smug and arrogant look on his face.
Zhou Mingming: "Collecting protection money? Stealing bicycles? Those are all illegal!"
The yellow-haired man glanced at him with disdain: "What are you afraid of? Even if they catch me, they'll just give me a verbal lecture and let me go soon."
At this point, he sounded rather regretful: "Even though I turned 16 last month, I can't do these things so brazenly anymore. If I get caught again, I might end up in juvenile detention."
Zhou Mingming didn't want to end up like Huangmao. He looked around at the other pool tables and asked, "Aren't you following a big brother? The one called Brother Hai. Why haven't I seen him lately?"
Huang Mao was startled: "You don't know?"
"Know what?"
The yellow-haired man leaned close to his ear again and whispered, "Brother Hai was arrested half a year ago for rape, robbery and murder. Last month he was..." He made a gun gesture and tapped his temple.
"Bang!"
Zhou Mingming seemed to have really heard the gunshot, and his body shook unconsciously with the movement of the yellow-haired hand.
Huang Mao laughed heartily: "What are you afraid of? I'll take you out to broaden your horizons and practice your courage, how about that?"
Zhou Mingming shook his head frantically: "I, I, I, I remembered that I have something else to do. I'll leave first. I'll find you next time."
......
Zhou Mingming walked down the street in a daze, his mind racing: Was he going to become like Huang Mao in the future? Robbering elementary school students, using a pair of pliers to cut chain locks, and stealing bicycles to sell?
When I grow up a little bit, I will follow a big brother, who will lead me to do bigger business, commit more serious crimes, and then one day...bang...
No, no, no, it’s true that I don’t want to study, but I don’t want to become someone like Huangmao and Hai Ge!
He rushed home in a hurry. The house was empty. He moved the pile of brand new textbooks in the corner to the bed and opened the geometry and algebra textbooks for the second grade of junior high school.
Damn, I don’t understand it at all!
He opened the English book again. He knew all the letters in it, but he had no idea what they meant when they were combined into words!
He quickly gave up on the second-year junior high school textbooks and started to review the first-year junior high school textbooks, but he basically didn't know any of them either.
Zhou Mingming didn't give up. He was just in the first grade and didn't understand that it was okay. He pulled out two large cardboard boxes from under the bed. Inside were the textbooks and exercise books he used in elementary school. His grades in elementary school were actually pretty good, and he passed every exam.
The main subjects in the sixth grade are only mathematics and Chinese, and the others are minor subjects.
Fortunately, he could understand some of it in sixth grade! Zhou Mingming decided to start cram school from sixth grade math. He carefully turned the book to page one, page two, and page three.
Then he lay down on the edge of the bed and fell asleep.
Studying is so tiring!
? (Yin and Yang cut off the two dusk and dawn)
Two days passed in a flash. During these two days, no one knew what Lin Yi and Ling Shuang were busy with outside. They could only be seen in the morning and evening. During the day, Zhou Mingming was studying alone at home.
However, two days passed and I was still stuck on page four of the sixth-grade math textbook, never turning any further.
Another day passed, and Zhou Mingming took out the remaining 800 yuan of living funds. He hadn't done much food shopping or cooking these days, so he still had so much left. He put the money on the table and said to Lin Yi and Ling Shuang, "I want to try going out to work."
Lin Yi didn't ask why and agreed immediately: "Okay, I know a contractor who is building a building in the north of the city. I'll give him a call and you can go there and give it a try."
Out of consideration for the situation, the contractor reluctantly agreed to let him try out for a week, but because he was too young and did not meet the employment standards, and working on the construction site was dangerous, he was asked not to get close to the main project and could only move bricks on the periphery. He was paid 50 yuan a day, and the bill was settled when he left.
Zhou Mingming had been moving bricks at the construction site for a week. He had obviously lost weight and looked a lot darker. Every day and every moment, he felt like he couldn't hold on any longer.
