Yongshan pondered: Is Third Uncle's action today because his third and fourth brothers felt guilty after saving Daliangzi?
Oh, don’t say that, it must be like this!
He said that he always taught his three children that as a person, you should be a good person. Even if you suffer a loss temporarily, God will make it up to you later...
Yongshan's thoughts drifted further and further away. Meanwhile, Mrs. Zhao finally smiled, a smile she hadn't seen in over half a year. She carefully put the agreement into the kang cabinet, and then, as if nothing had happened, she said to Lin Yi enthusiastically, "Third brother, what are you standing for? Sit down quickly. Yongshan, go see your wife. Why isn't the noodles cooked yet?"
Then she took out a large teapot and a paper bag from the drawer: "Are you thirsty? I'll make you some water. Try this tea from my sister-in-law. Uncle Yongshan brought it to me. We usually don't drink it, but let's try it together today."
The second daughter-in-law hurriedly handed over the thermos to heat the teacups, and the whole family was overjoyed and busy.
Lin Yi smiled. This family was so simple, straightforward and cute.
The second nephew, Yongsheng, was a cheerful and lively man. When he saw his mother's face lighten up, he relaxed as well. He slumped over to sit next to Lin Yi and said, "Uncle San, my Aunt San said you stopped selling rat poison and went out to do other business. Where have you been? What are you selling now?"
Yongsheng had noticed long ago that his uncle's new clothes and shoes, the new watch on his wrist, and the big bag he brought, which was still so bulging after he took out two packets of tea and two bottles of wine, must have been bought for his grandparents. His uncle must have made a fortune.
"Go away, go away, (ˉ▽ ̄~) Cut~~" Mrs. Zhao pushed her son aside and said, "Third brother, you are not in a hurry to leave this afternoon, are you? I will prepare some dishes in the evening, and you and your eldest brother will have a drink with our father. Later, ask your eldest brother to invite the team leader as well. While you are here, let's ask the cadres to make that agreement formalized?" Mrs. Zhao asked carefully.
"Okay, sister-in-law, we can eat anytime. I will go to the brigade with my brother in a while and get this done." Lin Yi said very tactfully.
Mrs. Zhao was even happier and said to her second daughter-in-law, "Go, get two eggs and make some egg stew for your third uncle. He likes it."
"Sister-in-law, stop working. You're hungry. Just eat something. We'll make it in the evening." Seeing his eldest niece's wife coming in with a large bowl, Lin Yi hurriedly stopped his sister-in-law and second niece's wife.
He drank a cup of tea first, not even minding the heat, and then started eating noodles.
After finishing the noodles and drinking enough tea, he remembered to inquire about the whereabouts of Ling Shuang and the two children.
Everyone in the room was stunned. It was Sister Zhao who broke the silence. "Third brother, you said you didn't know where your sister-in-law and Daliangzi went? So you weren't with them?"
Lin Yi: "Yes, sister-in-law, I have been out doing business with my brother-in-law and Yongqiang for the past two weeks. We just came back from another place."
"Uncle, uncle, so it wasn't you who got Daliangzi that job? Was that my aunt's idea? My aunt is so awesome." Seeing Lin Yi's confused face, Yongsheng's eyes lit up. He grabbed Lin Yi's arm and started shaking it: "Oh, uncle, you don't know, Daliangzi went to work at the Public Security Bureau!"
Lin Yi scratched his ear and said, "Who are you talking about? Our Yongliang? Did he go to work at the Public Security Bureau?"
Yongsheng gripped even harder: "Really, Uncle San, the whole village saw it. At first we thought Daliangzi had committed some crime and the police came to arrest him. Later, the police took Daliangzi directly to the village committee to ask the cadres to issue a certificate and transfer his household registration. That's when we realized Daliangzi was going to work at the Public Security Bureau."
"The people from the Public Security Bureau said they would take him to work at the Public Security Bureau? What can he do there?" Lin Yi didn't believe it. The rumor was getting more and more outrageous. Would the Public Security Bureau want a person who was full of bad intentions, had no education, and no brains?
Yongsheng was convinced: "What can I do at the Public Security Bureau? I can be a police officer. With the uniform and the big hat on, I'm sure I'll be full of energy." Alas, Yongsheng looked fascinated. Why hadn't he encountered such a thing? How did Daliangzi do it?
Yongsheng and the other young men in the village were incredibly curious! They were desperate to find out the secrets and see if there was a way to emulate it.
But ever since Daliangzi left with the comrades from the Public Security Bureau, he has never returned. Even Third Aunt and Yongfang have left home. They always thought that Third Aunt and the others were going to meet up with Third Uncle and do business.
Lin Yi interrupted his nephew's fantasy with a single sentence: "Have you ever seen a police officer limping along the aisle?"
Yongsheng was stuck: "Then...then there are also civilian positions?"
Lin Yi: "Yes, have you ever seen a clerk who didn't even graduate from elementary school and can't even read a newspaper?"
Yongsheng was speechless.
Lin Yi: "Do you remember what day this happened?"
"Let me count," Yongsheng began to count on his fingers. "It seems to be... 10 days ago?" He looked at his elder brother unsurely. "Brother, it was 10 days ago, right?"
Yongshan nodded: "Almost."
Although Lin Yi was confused, he was not worried at all. With Ling Shuang around, he wouldn't be surprised even if someone told him that his eldest son had joined the army.
He looked at his watch. It was almost two o'clock in the afternoon. The brigade cadres should have finished their nap. He immediately decided to go back and get the title deed for the residential land, and then ask his eldest brother to go to the brigade headquarters together to complete the transfer procedures.
The eldest sister-in-law was naturally overjoyed, and immediately "thoughtfully" asked Brother Zhao to go home with him to get the land deed, and then go to the brigade headquarters together after getting the deed.
