“Okay!” Chi Yuan nodded obediently and did not delve any further into the matter.
"Would you like to hold him? He's very cute and well-behaved; he was just born not long ago." Shen Yulou bent down and stroked the little fox cub's chin.
The little fox cub squinted comfortably, its pink little paws immediately waving in a flurry of activity.
Chi Yuan was not a staunch materialist, so the appearance of the nine-tailed fox cub, while shocking, was not unacceptable to him.
Besides, the little fox cub was chubby like a glutinous rice ball, extremely cute and obedient. After Chi Yuan's initial shock subsided, a strange sense of closeness and protectiveness welled up inside him.
Chi Yuan attributed his inexplicable emotions to the little fox's cute appearance and his own fondness for small animals.
So he nodded, bent down and patted the little fox with both hands, a standard gesture for asking a child to hold him.
It tried to pry Chi Yuan's hand away by waving its sharp point at Chi Yuan's little tail, but it was too short and couldn't even touch him, let alone hit him, and its strength was pitifully weak.
So the little tail went back behind the little fox, feeling a bit down, and curled itself into a small circle.
The little fox was quite curious about Chi Yuan. He gently put down the fluffy ball he was holding in his mouth and leaned in to smell Chi Yuan's scent.
Chi Yuan placed his long, slender fingers under the little fox's nose so it could sniff.
"Aww..." The little one stretched out its paws, and Chi Yuan picked it up.
Shen Yulou adjusted Chi Yuan's holding position from the side.
"Don't hold him upright. He's not a human baby, he'll be uncomfortable. Just hold him horizontally and let him lie on his stomach, that's fine."
After the adjustment, the little guy's fox head rested comfortably on Chi Yuan's forearm.
Several of the nine little tails waved energetically, constantly touching Chi Yuan's clothes; several were limp and obviously not awake; and two others clung to the little fox, gently patting his back.
Feeling the incredibly soft baby in his arms, Chi Yuan's movements stiffened, and he remained motionless, maintaining the position that Shen Yulou had positioned.
"Don't be nervous, it's okay." Shen Yulou patted Chi Yuan on the back, trying to comfort him.
"Go sit over there," Shen Yulou said, pointing to the sofa next to them. The two of them walked over.
"You're really willing to tell me this matter so readily?" Chi Yuan looked at the little fox on his lap, howling and wanting the fluffy ball in Shen Yulou's hand, still feeling like he was in a dream.
"I believe you!" Shen Yulou said firmly.
Believe? He believes me! Chi Yuan was stunned for a moment, then it felt like fireworks were exploding in his mind.
They'd only met twice, and he already trusted him? Had he become so trustworthy in Shen Yulou's eyes? This feeling of being trusted by a lover is truly...so fulfilling!
He swore that Shen Yulou definitely had feelings for him! The two of them were head over heels for each other!
Chi Yuan was so engrossed in thinking about it that he almost wanted to propose right away, but since the two of them hadn't even officially started dating, proposing out of the blue might make Shen Yulou think he was being too casual.
"Never mind, let's just go through the formalities first." Thinking this, Chi Yuan's gaze towards Shen Yulou softened.
Suddenly, the two heard footsteps in the stairwell. Chi Yuan immediately took off his coat, intending to wrap the little fox's nine tails.
Shen Yulou stopped him. Chi Yuan was still wondering when he looked down and saw that the little fox's tail was gone.
“When I was still a nine-tailed fox, I cast a spell on him. If there is a third person present besides you and me, all nine of his tails will turn into one,” Shen Yulou explained.
