Hypocritical politicians all have beautiful faces (35)

"Hello? Are you Shen Yulou's butler?"

The call was finally answered, and Chi Yuan helped Shen Yulou into the car and closed the door.

He leaned against the roof of the car, his crisp suit billowing slightly in the wind, the hem rustling softly.

"Yes, may I ask who you are?"

"I am Chi Yuan, a friend of Minister Shen."

"Mr. Shen is drunk, so I brought him back, but he doesn't have a key. Could you come back and open the door?"

"May I have a word with Mr. Shen?"

The butler was somewhat skeptical, but only gave a reply after confirming that it was Shen Yulou's voice on the other end.

"I have the key, but I'm not here. I'm on a business trip out of town handling things for Mr. Shen."

"What can I do for you? Can I come back now?"

"Sorry, I can come back now, but it will take me at least three hours."

The butler did not tell Chi Yuan what Shen Yulou was going to do, and gave him a timeframe that sounded like it was going to be a long time from now.

"So what do we do now?"

Chi Yuan had one hand in his pocket, his breath blurring his vision, and raindrops slid down his resolute profile.

The black umbrella behind him sheltered his tall and straight figure, making him appear exceptionally solemn.

"Mr. Chi, could you please help me make some temporary accommodations?"

"..."

"All right."

Chi Yuan reluctantly agreed, and just as he was about to hang up, he remembered Zai Zai.

"Mr. Shen told me he was going home to be with his children."

"No one is in the villa. Is Mr. Shen's child sleeping in the villa, or is he being looked after at a friend's house?"

"A child? Where did this child come from?"

The butler thought he had misheard and asked several times in a puzzled voice.

Chi Yuan's alarm blared, and he glanced inscrutably through the car window.

Is this child so well-kept secret that even the housekeeper doesn't know?

But... that's impossible.

The last time he came to see Shen Yulou, it was the butler who checked the invitation, although the butler didn't go into the house at that time.

If even the housekeeper doesn't recognize the baby... then who takes care of the baby usually?

This is truly bizarre.

Or was the housekeeper doing it on purpose, just to keep the child's existence a secret?

Knowing that the king's heart was unpredictable, Chi Yuan decided not to guess anymore, hastily agreed, and hung up the phone.

"Let's go home. Have someone tidy up the room. Let Mr. Chen stay at my house tonight."

After instructing the driver, Chi Yuan opened the car door and got in.

"It's late, young master, you should get some sleep."

The driver dimmed the car lights, and Shen Yulou could accurately smell Chi Yuan's scent even with her eyes closed. She then shifted her upper body and leaned against Chi Yuan's lap.

The dim light did not bring Chi Yuan any sleepiness; his consciousness gradually blurred in a vortex of confusion.

Shen Yulou leaned her upper body against his legs without any warning, her even breathing sounding like a gentle breeze brushing against his fingertips.

Her fingers moved slowly, gently tracing the smooth curve of her brow bone, with an indescribable flutter in her heart, drawing the brow bone's arc into the gentlest crescent moon in the night sky.

The touch is as smooth as silk melting into your hand, and the movements are as gentle as if afraid of disturbing a fragile dream.

The pad of his thumb finally rested on Shen Yulou's lips, the blood congealing into a deep purple, with some swelling still present.

Chi Yuan thought that his lips should look like this now, even more swollen than Shen Yulou's.

Thinking this, she couldn't help but curl her lips into a smile.

This is probably the most genuine smile I've had in all these days.

Unfortunately, Shen Yulou didn't see it.

What am I supposed to do with you?

He stared at him, as if asking himself, or perhaps asking him, his fingers curled up and nestled against Shen Yulou's face.

The more you struggle, the harder it is to let go; the more you indulge in it, the more you cannot extricate yourself.

In the blurry vision, Shen Yulou remained silent, and after an unknown amount of time, she quietly nuzzled against him.

"Are you awake? Or are you not drunk at all? Are you lying to me?"

The thought that Shen Yulou would wake up and respond to him was utterly absurd.

A rare moment of self-mockery rose in Chi Yuan's heart as he turned his head to look out the window, trying to distract himself.
