Chapter 10 Anyway, I won't

Luo Jiu had been in the palace for over a day, and only now did she have the mood to find out just how wealthy the ancient emperors really were.

The palaces, rising and falling in a staggered array, stand majestically and imposingly, exuding the solemnity and grandeur of the imperial palace. Every few steps reveal a new vista: small bridges spanning flowing streams, fish swimming among the greenery, a scene brimming with life.

The dining location Yueying mentioned was a pavilion in a garden, surrounded by tall trees that blocked the slanting sunlight. The pavilion, occupying a superb location, was shady and cool, like a secluded paradise.

Several exquisite pastries and white porridge were laid out on the table. There seemed to be something else, but it was too far away for Luo Jiu to see clearly.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be "The Way of the Emperor," which the Regent had ordered to be brought yesterday.

My good mood vanished instantly. The exam I'd completely forgotten about suddenly came back to me. Ugh, I don't understand a thing! What's this exam even about?! This is going to kill me!

[Master, please calm down. Detected. The male lead is moving this way. Please be mindful of your image.]

Before 007 could finish speaking, a young eunuch rushed over and said, "The Regent requests an audience."

Luo Jiu cursed inwardly, but her hand unconsciously picked up the book on the table, silently hid it, and stared at the food with a pale face.

Before the emperor could grant the summons, Gu Muchen had already entered and naturally sat down next to Luo Jiu.

Luo Jiu sized Gu Muchen up and down, then silently moved to the side. The male lead's aura was too strong; she was so scared.

Gu Muchen turned his head and saw a corner of the book "The Way of the Emperor" that was peeking out of Luo Jiu's hand. He was a little surprised, raised his eyebrows, and said, "I didn't expect that Your Majesty has not forgotten what I said yesterday."

Luo Jiu's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly moved closer, saying, "Uncle, you got up early this morning, haven't you had breakfast yet? Yueying, bring another set of bowls and chopsticks." She then smiled obsequiously at the Regent.

Unexpectedly, my mind was racing with a series of 007-word messages.

[Master, Master, danger warning. You must not disrupt the original master's character. Danger warning. You must not disrupt the original master's character.]

"Shut up. This isn't destruction; it's bowing to reality. The original owner just hadn't developed this function yet. She'll understand when she's older; I'm just helping her use it ahead of time."

Besides, how can I build up my favorability without being a little flattering? How about you give me a few more friend cards?

[…] I was speechless.

Gu Muchen glanced at the bowls and chopsticks in front of him, then at Luo Jiu, who was actively helping to serve the food, and smiled:

"Royal Uncle? Hmm?"

"Is there anything wrong? I was wrong before, I shouldn't have always opposed my royal uncle. I hope my royal uncle won't hold it against me." After saying that, Luo Jiu personally added a bowl of porridge to Gu Muchen's bowl and placed it in front of him.

Gu Muchen's doubts deepened. He remained impassive, silently observing Luo Jiu. After a moment, the corners of his mouth curved into a wider smile as he said, "Your Majesty, don't think that this means you can skip checking my homework."

Before the words were even finished, Luo Jiu deflated like a punctured balloon. She glared resentfully at Gu Muchen, biting hard at the pastries on the table. She channeled her grief and anger into her appetite.

In contrast, Gu Muchen finished his breakfast in a pleasant mood.

Luo Jiu kept putting it off, but breakfast eventually came to an end. After the palace maid cleared away the dishes, Luo Jiu acted as if nothing had happened, as if to say, "Go ahead and ask, I won't."
