The man was tall and handsome, with deep, dark eyes that concealed a morbid stubbornness.
The only flaw was the dark circles under his originally deep-set eyes, which looked like he hadn't slept well for a long time.
Upon seeing him, the previously boisterous ladies all quieted down.
To Luo Jiu, this man was like a monstrous beast, making her shiver involuntarily.
Didn't you say you'd be back tomorrow? How could this be...?
Luo Jiu hadn't expected her escape plan to be discovered so quickly. No problem, she'd disguised herself specially today, even wearing a hat…
Luo Jiu sat calmly in the waiting area, her large hat covering most of her face, leaving only her bright red lips visible.
While Luo Jiu was hoping to get away with it, a pair of black military boots caught her eye.
The man stood in front of her and said gently, "Jiu'er, when you've had enough fun, come home with me."
There was no outburst of anger as Luo Jiu had imagined; the tone was simply a greeting as usual.
Luo Jiu was somewhat taken aback and looked up at him.
This man, just as outsiders perceived, was aloof yet courteous, showering you with tenderness like a refined gentleman. He was nothing like the madness and obsession he displayed when he imprisoned Luo Jiu in the house.
He was like a husband coming to pick up his wife from the hospital. If Luo Jiu hadn't been the one in the situation, she probably would have praised him.
Luo Jiu's expression was complicated. She knew she couldn't avoid it, so she followed Xu Shaojun into the car in a daze.
She tried to open the passenger door, but Xu Shaojun stopped her.
"Jiu'er, sit in the back, be good."
Luo Jiu had witnessed Xu Shaojun's madness before. She obediently sat in the back, and they remained silent the whole way.
...
"Miss, you're finally back. The Major General went crazy when he came back that night and found you weren't there."
As soon as Luo Jiu entered, Xiao Li took her luggage.
The way Xiao Li looked at Luo Jiu was like she was looking at a savior. Xiao Li never wanted to relive what happened that night.
Xu Shaojun was truly terrifying that night. Seeing that Luo Jiu wasn't there, his face was incredibly grim, yet he still had a smile on his face, which was extremely creepy.
He uttered only one word, "Investigate!" His words sent chills down everyone's spines, and no one dared approach him.
Then, he turned around and smashed everything in the room. Whenever Luo Jiu was involved, he was like a demon from hell, sending chills down everyone's spine.
Luo Jiu didn't say anything, but gave her a faint smile and got up to go back to her room.
"Jiu'er, is there nothing you want to say to me?"
Xu Shaojun's voice came from behind, slightly hoarse, yet strangely sexy and charming.
I was probably bewitched by that face back then.
She has the most captivating face, yet hides a morbidly stubborn heart.
Luo Jiu stood still for two seconds without saying a word. Then she continued walking back to the cage that had been built for her.
“Jiu’er…”
Without warning, Xu Shaojun rushed up and hugged her.
He rubbed his face against hers, the heat almost burning. Only then did Luo Jiu notice the flush on his face and his unusually high temperature.
"You...have a fever."
Luo Jiu spoke in a low voice; this was the first time she had spoken to Xu Shaojun in so many days.
A glimmer of light flashed in Xu Shaojun's feverish, somewhat delirious eyes.
"My Jiu'er, I was wrong, please forgive me..."
Xu Shaojun used his illness as an excuse to try to resolve the conflict between him and Luo Jiu.
He didn't expect Luo Jiu and he could go back to the way they were before; he only hoped that Luo Jiu could care about him a little bit, just a little bit.
He knew that rumors could pierce people's hearts, but he didn't realize that a person's indifference could also leave him battered and bruised.
He locked Luo Jiu in the room, along with his heart, inside that magnificent space. And the key to unlock him was in Luo Jiu's hands.
Upon hearing this, Luo Jiu fell silent once again.
Her silence pushed Xu Shaojun to the brink of exploding.
I heard him chuckle softly a few times, his voice filled with endless sorrow.
Xu Shaojun slowly released his grip on Luo Jiu and retreated step by step.
Then, what happened next was something no one could have predicted.
The sound of a bullet being chambered filled the air, and a black pistol was pressed against Xu Shaojun's temple.
He's gone mad, all because of Luo Jiu.
Luo Jiu looked up at him in shock. Her lips parted as if she wanted to say something, but ultimately no sound came out.
"Jiu'er, I can't just let you leave like this."
"This gun has five bullets and one blank. If I fire it and I die, no one will be able to restrict your freedom anymore."
"If I hadn't died..."
At this point, Xu Shaojun gave a somewhat sinister laugh, and said in an extremely indifferent tone:
"Then we might not be able to let you leave."
If you can't forgive me, then let's just keep torturing each other like this.
"don't want……"
"Luo Jiu shouted, her beautiful fox eyes now brimming with tears."
With a smile on his lips, Xu Shaojun slowly closed his eyes.
"Bang!" A gunshot rang out.
A porcelain vase not far away shattered with a crash.
It turned out that Luo Jiu, who was not far away, saw that he was about to fire and hurriedly ran over, causing the gun to deflect.
Luo Jiu's eyes were full of tears, but she didn't lessen the force in her wrist, her veins bulging, as she pressed down on Xu Shaojun's hand holding the gun.
Xu Shaojun opened his eyes and saw the broken vase. He gave a self-deprecating smile.
