Chapter 160 Stealing Wine

After a short while, Xiao Zhuo stopped. Luo Jiu finally stepped onto solid ground and returned to the embrace of the earth. This long-lost sense of familiarity moved Luo Jiu so much that she wanted to cry.

"Where is this?" Luo Jiu still held tightly to Xiao Zhuo's clothes, not daring to relax for a moment, for fear that he would leave him here.

"Here it is. You're so smart, guess what it is." Xiao Zhuo's voice was low, but his tone was as unreliable as ever.

Luo Jiu: "..." I really believed your nonsense and actually followed you here.

"Pfft!"

Seeing Luo Jiu fail again, Xiao Zhuo felt inexplicably better. So, he pulled Luo Jiu to sit down.

Luo Jiu moved her foot and stepped on something, making a crisp sound.

Luo Jiu: "We're not on the ground...we're on the roof?"

She uttered these words with great difficulty, then turned to look at Xiao Zhuo with a helpless expression.

"You guessed half right, what kind of reward do you want?"

Xiao Zhuo lay half-reclined on the rooftop, not wearing his usual night clothes. Instead, he wore a light blue robe, the wide sleeves of which swayed in the wind. If it weren't for this posture, he would have looked quite like an immortal.

"What's the other half?" Luo Jiu asked, puzzled.

Xiao Zhuo squinted at her and smiled, "This is on the roof of Jing'an Temple."

Jing'an Temple?

Luo Jiu fell silent, a rare occurrence. They had agreed to go out and have fun, and she had thought she would be taken to see the hustle and bustle of the city, or at least find a quiet place with a small bridge and flowing water to listen to the sound of the tide and the summer breeze. Instead, she was taken to Jing'an Temple.

This is the State Temple of the Southern Liang Dynasty. Are you coming out to worship gods or ghosts late at night?

In conclusion, Luo Jiu came to the conclusion that Xiao Zhuo was indeed unreliable.

As Luo Jiu silently complained about Xiao Zhuo in her heart, she heard him snap his fingers and say with a slightly excited voice:

"I know what I'm giving you, wait a moment."

Before Luo Jiu could ask him anything, this guy came and went like a gentle breeze, leaving no trace.

The night at Jing'an Temple is quiet, with the faint sound of bells coming from afar, and wisps of incense swirling around the rooftops. Accompanied by the cool summer breeze, it allows one to slowly calm down and immerse oneself in the mystery and unknown of this vast world.

A moment later, a crisp sound of tiles colliding came from beside her. Luo Jiu knew that Xiao Zhuo had probably returned.

Xiao Zhuo sat down next to Luo Jiu, placed a red wine jar in front of her, and said gently, "Here, the finest Daughter's Red wine."

If Luo Jiu hadn't been blindfolded, she would have been filled with disbelief. Aren't Buddhists supposed to forbid meat and alcohol? Are you kidding me, late at night?

"Why not give it a try? The old monk hid it quite well; it was not easy to get this bottle."

Xiao Zhuo made a casual, nonchalant comment, shaking the wine jar in his hand. A rich aroma of wine immediately wafted from the jar, intoxicating everyone present.

Luo Jiu dismissed the idea that it might be plain water, took a small sip, and immediately choked on the spiciness of the liquor.

Seeing this, Xiao Zhuo chuckled for a moment, took the wine, and gulped it down. The spicy sensation burned his entire throat, but afterwards, the mellow aroma of the wine lingered on his teeth.

This is the taste. I've traveled to many places over the years, but this wine, the one I tricked out of the old monk, is the only one that tastes right.

The moon hung in the sky, casting a soft, clear light, bright and pure. Its afterglow shone on the two people secretly drinking on the rooftop, creating an inexplicably warm atmosphere.

After a few rounds of drinks, both of their faces were flushed.

Luo Jiu couldn't sit still any longer. Drunk and somewhat dazed, she lay on Xiao Zhuo's lap like a boneless snake, showing none of the refined demeanor she usually put on, yet appearing so real.

The summer breeze intertwined their robes, just as the ambiguous relationship between them was tightly entangled.

She looked up at Xiao Zhuo with her eyes covered by a white silk ribbon, and her red lips parted slightly:

"Where did you steal this wine? It tastes pretty good. Go steal another jar!"

After getting drunk, Luo Jiu's voice became soft and sweet, but her true nature was completely revealed. In her sticky, childlike voice, she said that she wanted someone to steal another jar of wine. Her words were so righteous and undisguised that she seemed more like a thief than Xiao Zhuo.

It just... makes it even cuter, making you want to sneak a kiss and taste what it feels like.

"So, you just say you'd steal it?"

Xiao Zhuo couldn't resist teasing her, and casually drank the last drop of wine from the jar.

Luo Jiu's ears were much more sensitive than before. She heard Xiao Zhuo swallowing, frowned, and tackled Xiao Zhuo to the ground with lightning speed.

She reached out and snatched the jar of wine with perfect accuracy, shook it, and there wasn't a sound to be heard.

Luo Jiu, annoyed, shoved the wine jar into his arms and sat up.

Poor Xiao Zhuo, before he could even properly savor the feeling of having a beauty in his arms, the warm and soft beauty was instantly replaced by a cold wine jar. The contrast was simply too great.

"You drank my wine, you have to pay me back!"

After getting drunk, Luo Jiu became somewhat unreasonable and domineering, with only alcohol on her mind. She was like a stubborn child, yet innocently adorable.

Xiao Zhuo narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at the woman whose mind was only on wine, and asked dangerously, "Little Jiu'er, do you know who I am? How dare you ask me for wine?"

Luo Jiu heard a voice coming from ahead, deep and inexplicably pleasant. She tried to open her eyes wide, but all she could see was a hazy grayness. She could vaguely make out a person sitting not far away, surrounded by white smoke, so her face was not visible.

Luo Jiu rubbed her eyes, felt a layer of white gauze, and decisively took it off. But she could see even less, and she couldn't even see the gray shadow anymore.

"Who are you? Why can't I see you?" Luo Jiu asked, somewhat discouraged.

Hearing this, Xiao Zhuo felt a pang of heartache and pulled Luo Jiu into his arms. He gently kissed the corner of Luo Jiu's eye and said in a low voice, "I am your husband, Xiao Zhuo."

Then he added, "Remember next time, kids with bad memories will be sold."

Xiao Zhuo, who could only be serious for three seconds, kept taking advantage of Luo Jiu's drunkenness. It was fortunate that Luo Jiu was drunk, otherwise he would have pushed him off the roof without saying a word.

"Husband?" Luo Jiu asked, somewhat puzzled.

"Why."

Xiao Zhuo quickly agreed, not wanting to miss out on even the slightest advantage.

"What is this? Can we eat it?"

Xiao Zhuo was speechless, his face showing disbelief that Luo Jiu would say such a thing.

"...Husband, you can't eat it."

"Then what use are you to me? All you do is steal my wine! Go and get me some more!"

Xiao Zhuo was pushed away by Luo Jiu and was chased off the roof in a somewhat disheveled manner.
