Just as Luo Jiu was about to be showered with the dog's saliva, Shen Jinchen suddenly appeared out of nowhere, interrupting the affectionate moment between the two.
"Woof~"
The big yellow dog barked fiercely at Shen Jinchen, as if expressing its unhappiness, but in the end it returned to Shen Jinchen's side dejectedly.
"Is this big furry guy yours?" Luo Jiu was a little surprised. She always saw him staying at home alone and thought he liked quiet and being alone.
Luo Jiu stared at Shen Jinchen and scanned him up and down. He didn't seem like the type to raise small animals at all.
"Tell me quietly, did you steal this dog from somewhere?"
Shen Jinchen was amused by Luo Jiu's reaction and reached out to flick her little head, which was always thinking about this and that.
Do I look like a thief to you?
Luo Jiu rubbed her head, which was sore from being hit, and glared at him. If it wasn't true, it wasn't true. Why did you hit her?
"So that's what you tricked them into giving you. Tell me, what delicious treats did you use to trick this cute, innocent little puppy?"
"It's not friendly."
Shen Jinchen looked at Luo Jiu helplessly. He really didn't know that such a beautiful little head was just for decoration.
"Then...it wagged its tail at me."
Thinking of this, Luo Jiu smiled broadly, walked up to the golden retriever, squatted down, and affectionately hugged its neck.
"Look... I really am too good-looking, everyone loves me, even big dogs like me."
Shen Jinchen originally wanted to refute, but who knew that the golden retriever seemed to understand, rubbed against Luo Jiu, and even let out a soft bark, as if in response.
Looking at this big dog that was siding with outsiders, Shen Jinchen sighed and sighed, "Fine, whatever makes you happy."
The two strolled in the garden downstairs, and the big dog ran ahead energetically, trying to catch the frisbee that Luo Jiu had thrown.
"So, this really is your dog?"
After hearing Shen Jinchen's explanation, Luo Jiu still couldn't believe it. She really couldn't imagine that Shen Jinchen, who had such a quiet and even aloof personality, would like a dog as lively as a Golden Retriever.
"When I was little, my grandfather thought I was too quiet and wanted to buy a lively dog to liven things up."
"Is that the one?" Luo Jiu pointed to the golden retriever that she was having a great time playing with.
"No, it's its mother. That dog passed away a few years ago. This one looks the most like it, and we've kept it at the old house."
"I see. Well then..."
Before I could finish speaking, I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine.
"Achoo..."
Before Luo Jiu could even make fun of herself, she felt a coat being draped over her shoulders, still warm from someone's body.
"Luckily, I brought an extra jacket."
The man muttered to himself as he helped Luo Jiu straighten her clothes, and then naturally took her fair and slender hand in his.
"I didn't mean I had something to give you. Well, that's it."
Shen Jinchen pointed with his other finger at his silly son who was holding a frisbee in his mouth, his deep eyes full of laughter.
"ah?"
Luo Jiu was a little flustered to have unexpectedly acquired a large dog.
"It's actually not very affectionate; even my mom can't touch it. When I brought it home, I was worried it might be aggressive towards me."
"Is that so?" I can't tell at all. He looks so adorably silly, just like the rich man's foolish son.
"Perhaps there's something special about you..."
After thinking for a moment, Shen Jinchen continued, "A very comfortable and approachable charm."
That's why I couldn't help but feel a fondness for you the first time I saw you. Whenever I see you, I can't help but turn my gaze to you, as if it's an instinct, something etched into my very bones.
"Since Da Mao likes me so much, are you really willing to give him to me?"
Shen Jinchen rarely showed his emotions, so he knew exactly what this person liked. But this big golden dog seemed different to him; why would he be willing to give it away?
"Of course, you're its mother."
"Mom?"
Luo Jiu felt quite novel, having unexpectedly gained a dog son, and it actually felt rather nice.
but……
"So I'm the mom and you're the dad?" I always felt like this man was taking advantage of me.
"uh-huh."
Upon hearing this affirmative answer, Luo Jiu originally wanted to argue, but suddenly saw Da Mao running towards her with bright eyes and the frisbee she had just thrown in his mouth, seemingly wanting her to play with him.
"Da Mao..."
"It's called a fluffy ball."
The loud, fuzzy noises are practically pushing the limits of aesthetic appreciation.
"Hey, you little ball, go catch!" The frisbee flew far away again in an instant.
"Woof woof woof..."
The quiet path was suddenly filled with Luo Jiu's melodious laughter and the puppy's excited cheers.
As Shen Jinchen watched the two playfully disappear into the distance, he suddenly felt overwhelmed with happiness. This was probably the most beautiful thing about life.
"Fluffy, you can stay at Daddy's for now. Mommy's house is a bit small, and there's a pretty older sister there too. I'll bring you over to play tomorrow after I've bought your little nest."
Standing at Shen Jinchen's door, Luo Jiu hugged the golden retriever's neck, bidding a reluctant farewell.
"Remember to miss your mom."
"Woof woof!!"
"So reluctant to part? Actually, you can..."
Chen Jinchen was about to speak when he stopped, wanting to say something but then stopped.
"Huh? What?"
Luo Jiu focused all her attention on the big dog and didn't notice what the child's father had just said.
"It's nothing, goodnight."
Luo Jiu responded, feeling a bit confused.
Was she seeing things? Shen Jinchen seemed a little unhappy. What was wrong?
"Woof..."
Once home, Maoqiu seemed to have exhausted all her energy, staying in her little nest with her tail curled up, looking listless.
"What's wrong? Missing your mom?"
Shen Jinchen walked up to it and pinched its big ears.
The furball glanced at it and whimpered softly in response.
"Yes, I miss her too."
"Keep it up, Maoqiu. Maybe she'll move in with you tomorrow."
Chen Jinchen rubbed its soft, fluffy head and then filled the jar in front of it with food.
"You did a great job today, Maoqiu! You recognized Mommy even though you didn't. This is a reward for you."
After saying that, Shen Jinchen took out a round little doll from his suitcase and stuffed it into its arms.
The dog, which had been listless, immediately perked up. It sniffed the scent gently and, recognizing the familiar aroma, began to roll around happily.
Shen Jinchen chuckled softly and murmured something.
"Silly son."
Outside, the wind rustled and the moonlight gradually peeked out; inside, a peaceful and serene atmosphere prevailed.
