Ning Qing spoke softly, afraid of startling the person in front of her with a loud voice, "Princess, is the phoenix crown heavy? Shall I help you take it off?"
The second princess, Wu Chenxi, lowered her eyes, moved slightly back, and pursed her lips without saying a word.
Ning Qing paused for a moment, then spoke softly again, "Princess, don't panic, I won't do anything to you."
System: You yourself don't believe that you're saying this.
Ning Qing: Get lost.
He then sent the system to a dark room for three days.
That cat is so clueless! It's their wedding night, why is it meddling in their fun?
In the quiet room, a "cooing" sound suddenly rang out.
Wu Chenxi covered her lower abdomen with one fair and beautiful hand, and lowered her head even further.
Ning Qing looked at the phoenix crown and gold hairpin on her head... how heavy must that be? She was genuinely worried about her fair and delicate neck, and reached out to support the phoenix crown.
"Let me take it off for you, it's too heavy and uncomfortable to wear."
This time, Wu Chenxi only shrank back slightly without retreating, so Ning Qing took it as her consent and gently removed the phoenix crown and headdress from her head with both hands.
Ning Qing weighed the things she had taken down in her hand; they probably weighed about ten pounds. She quickly threw these burdens onto the dressing table, not wanting to look at them for even a second, feeling sorry for her wife.
Ning Qing walked out of the courtyard and saw Ping He waiting outside, looking around. He waved to him, and Ping He quickly ran over, handing the food box to Ning Qing with a bright smile. "Young Master, the signature dishes of Juwei Restaurant—roast chicken, braised pork, and stir-fried side dishes—are still warm."
Ning Qing nodded slightly. "Yes, well done."
When Ning Qing came in carrying the food box, she saw the person on the bed curled up in a ball under the orange light, their back trembling slightly.
Ning Qing put down the food box and strode over, turning the person over to face her. She saw that the person's eyes were slightly red, and there was a faint glimmer of water at the corner of her eyes... those were tears.
Ning Qing leaned down and gently pulled her into her arms, patting her back softly, and whispered in her ear, "What happened? Tell me."
A moment later, a soft voice was heard from inside her arms, "I...I...I thought you were gone..."
Ning Qing gently stroked her back, paused for a moment, and continued to comfort her gently, but the touch was not as soft as she had imagined.
She said softly, "I had someone buy some food from Juweilou. It's still warm. Would you like to have some with us?"
He paused for a moment and then added, "I've heard that Juweilou is the best-tasting restaurant in the entire capital."
Seeing that the person in his arms remained silent, Ning Qing continued, "I am hungry. May I ask my wife to do me the honor of having a meal together?"
The person in Ning Qing's arms pressed their pretty little face against her chest and murmured, "Who?...Who is your wife? Don't talk nonsense."
Ning Qing chuckled, "My wife, whom I just married today, is the Second Princess of the Dynasty, and her full name is Wu Chenxi."
Wu Chenxi looked up and glared at Ning Qing. As their eyes met, Ning Qing felt a ticklish sensation in her heart, and she cupped the other's delicate face and planted a kiss on it.
Wu Chenxi was furious at Ning Qing's sneak attack. She pushed Ning Qing away, a flash of murderous intent in her eyes, and clenched her fists into her wide sleeves.
This lecherous scoundrel dares to be so disrespectful to me; I really want to kill him right now.
Ning Qing was caught off guard and was pushed away by a strong force. She stared blankly at Wu Chenxi: she looked like a delicate beauty, but she was surprisingly strong.
Ning Qing gently took her hand and led her to sit down at the table. She then opened the food box and placed plates of fresh, hot food on the table.
