Wu Chenxi looked down at herself. The only way to describe her current state was as a mess. Her clothes were torn in many places, and the bloodstains had long since dried and congealed into scabs, making her feel sticky and extremely uncomfortable.
Looking around, all I could hear were birds chirping.
Wu Chenxi quickly took off her tattered, dirty clothes and jumped into the lake, splashing a large spray of water the moment she entered the water.
Wu Chenxi stretched out her long, perfectly sculpted limbs and swam a small circle in the water as if she were in her element. Then she stood on a large rock by the shore and began to wash off the dirt.
After washing her entire body, Wu Chenxi looked down at her perfectly intact skin and fell into deep self-doubt. She had been stabbed many times, so she should have had many knife wounds, but why was her skin completely unharmed?
Wu Chenxi was incredulous. She touched and examined her entire body's skin again, but it was still completely unharmed.
She began to recall everything that had happened after she was stabbed, and suddenly her memory froze on a certain scene: Ning Qing had given her half a pill.
Wu Chenxi's heart pounded wildly. He clutched his rapidly beating chest. Could it be that the pill Ning Qing gave him was so effective? Why would he give such a powerful pill to a complete stranger? Why not keep it for himself? After all, it's always good to have a miracle drug on hand, and it could even save your life in a pinch. He gave him something so important without hesitation.
Is it because they got married that he considers her his wife?
Wu Chenxi was shocked by her own thoughts. This was impossible. He already knew she was a man, so how could he consider her his wife? Unless… Wu Chenxi's eyes widened as a guess flashed through her mind—he liked men?
The idea was so terrifying that he choked on his saliva and coughed uncontrollably.
Ning Qing slowly walked back, carrying a vine with two ends tied to a pheasant that was flapping wildly in each hand, when she heard a violent coughing sound coming from behind the big rock.
Ning Qing put down the vines and quickly approached the large rock. She saw Wu Chenxi leaning against the rock, her delicate and pretty face flushed red from coughing.
Ning Qing asked anxiously, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Let me see."
As she spoke, she hurriedly reached out her arm to grab that fair and beautiful wrist.
But as soon as I touched the other person's wrist, they forcefully flung me away.
After shaking off Ning Qing's hand, Wu Chenxi quickly widened the distance between them and swam to the center of the lake in one breath. She floated on the surface of the water and looked Ning Qing in the eye.
Seeing Ning Qing staring at her with a puzzled look, Wu Chenxi suddenly realized that she might have overreacted just now.
But I can't blame myself for this. Ning Qing and the many beautiful concubines I sent over were having a great time playing and laughing every day. Who would have thought that he would be bisexual?
Wu Chenxi replied dryly, "I'm fine now, thanks to your generous donation of medicine."
Ning Qing was relieved to see that he could swim so far in one breath, knowing that he was unharmed.
He turned around, picked up the pheasant that was struggling and thrashing on the ground, and headed towards the other side of the lake.
Ning Qing noticed that she was standing some distance away from where Wu Chenxi was washing up and swimming before squatting down to begin processing the pheasant.
Ning Qing was very skilled at handling prey. She had been an orphan since childhood and had to hunt for food on her own. She had practiced this technique for hundreds of years, so how could she not be skilled? It wasn't until later, when her cultivation level improved and she no longer needed to eat every day, that she would hunt for food when she was craving it.
