"Host, would you like to know who caused these two car accidents?"
Ning Qing, who was frantically dealing damage in the game, said without any interest, "I don't want to know."
"Why?"
"Why should I know?" Her fingers never stopped moving across the phone.
"Okay, you can go first. Your little one will suffer less." I don't need to teleport either, so I can save energy for leveling up...
"No, these are the little one's experiences, which will help him grow. I can't get too involved. I just need to make sure he doesn't die." Mortals have their own destiny, and external forces shouldn't interfere too much. The feeling of being struck by lightning is not pleasant, let alone a mission target chosen by the system for protection. How ordinary can he be?
Ning Qing stopped there and did not wish to say more.
System: What to do when the host is too smart? The system was so scared that it dared not say more, for fear of making a mistake if it said too much.
When Su Xia woke up, she saw Ning Qing sitting next to the bed, playing on her phone in a chair.
"Mr. Ning," Su Xia called out in a hoarse voice.
"You're awake. Is anything bothering you?" Ning Qing finally took her eyes off her phone screen.
"It's okay, I'm just a little dizzy," Su Xia said, trying to sit up.
Seeing that Su Xia wanted to sit up, Ning Qing quickly went over to help him and put a pillow behind his back so that he could lean against it.
Su Xia clung to Ning Qing, refusing to let go. "Mr. Ning, I feel so dizzy. Can you let me lean against you for a while?" she said slowly, her face pale but with a hint of hope.
Seeing her baby looking pale, weak, and powerless, Ning Qing nodded and sat down so that her baby could lean on her.
Su Xia leaned on Ning Qing's shoulder with a satisfied look on her face.
I can smell Mr. Ning's delicate fragrance again. I like it.
"It was so good to meet you, sir. I almost didn't get to see you again."
Ning Qingqu had intended to flick the boy's forehead, but remembering his concussion, she immediately rubbed his hair instead. "You miss me that much?" she asked with a teasing expression.
Su Xia nuzzled Ning Qing's neck against his shoulder. "In the moment before I passed out, I thought I probably wouldn't escape this calamity. My only regret was not being able to see you one last time, not being able to give you a proper hug..."
Seeing the little one's aggrieved expression, reddened eyes, and a hint of loneliness in his voice, she realized that he was a child.
Ning Qing couldn't help but pull him into her arms, kiss the ends of his hair, and whisper, "I will always be by your side and will never let you be in danger."
"Mr. Ning," Su Xia hugged Ning Qing tightly.
When Assistant Lin brought in a lunchbox, she was greeted by the sight of the two embracing on the bed. She quickly pulled her foot back and closed the door behind her.
Ning Qing looked bewildered as Assistant Lin went in, then backed out and closed the door, turning her head to look at Su Xia with a question in her mind.
"Come in," Su Xia had no choice but to call for someone to come in. Mr. Ning was still unaware of her thoughts, and she couldn't scare him.
Assistant Lin heard his boss's voice outside the door and quickly went inside.
"Boss, I brought some porridge," he said, handing a bowl of porridge to Ning Qing.
...I'm just a heartless tool for feeding porridge...
Ning Qing picked up the spoon and began to feed him, spoonful by spoonful.
Su Xia was still feeling nauseous from her concussion and didn't want to eat, but seeing Ning Qing feeding her porridge, she started eating it bite by bite.
I don't know what kind of porridge it was, but I do know that Mr. Ning's hands holding the spoon were incredibly beautiful—long, fair, and with well-defined knuckles.
After finishing a bowl of porridge, Su Xia didn't want to eat more. She took a handkerchief and handed it to Ning Qing, looking at her expectantly.
Ning Qing's heart melted instantly, and she took a handkerchief and gently wiped the corners of his mouth.
Ning Qing knew they had something to talk about and didn't want to get involved, so she made an excuse and left.
