Chapter 439 Imperial Advisor (15)

Lin Zilan slowly opened her mouth and asked.

"Is that the servant my senior brother brought back?"

But the maid shook her head.

"No, everyone in the manor calls him Young Master."

Lin Zilan frowned unhappily.

He couldn't help but wonder: What is the relationship between that person and his senior brother? Why did his senior brother bring him back?

Looking up at the maid, she asked, "What is the relationship between that person and my senior brother? And why was he brought back? Do you know?"

The maid shook her head.

"This servant does not know."

Lin Zilan glared at the maid with considerable displeasure.

"If you don't know, go ask around! What are you standing there for?"

The maid nodded and quickly replied, "Yes."

He turned and walked quickly outside.

Lin Zilan looked at the messy room, pursed her lips, got up and walked out of the room.

Meanwhile, Ning Qing, without his wife's company, lay on the soft couch in the courtyard, leisurely sipping his wine.

Just then, the boy walked in, bowed respectfully, and then spoke.

"My lord, there is a boy outside who calls himself Xiao Qian. He says he has come to thank you for saving his life."

Ning Qing's eyes flickered; her younger brother-in-law was approaching.

"Let him in. Oh, and bring a chair over."

The boy accepted the order and left.

A short while later, he came in with a boy who looked to be fourteen or fifteen years old.

The young boy was dressed in a blue robe. Despite his young age, his face lacked the vitality that a teenager should have, instead displaying a mature and serious expression.

He looks exactly like a little old man.

He walked up to Ning Qing and stopped, bending his knees slightly downwards.

Ning Qing quickly reached out to help him up, preventing him from kneeling.

This was his wife's younger brother, and Ning Qing, out of love for his wife, naturally wouldn't let him actually kneel down.

Unexpectedly, the young boy took a step back, then quickly knelt on the ground and kowtowed heavily to Ning Qing.

The loudness of the voice made the little boy standing to the side glance at his forehead.

The young boy looked up, his face serious and earnest.

He spoke loudly.

"Jiaqian thanks the Grand Preceptor for saving her life."

As he spoke, he tried to kowtow again.

Unexpectedly, a warm, large hand gripped his chin tightly, preventing him from continuing to kowtow.

Jiaqian looked up at Ningqing, her eyes filled with confusion.

Before he could speak.

Behind them, a cold voice suddenly rang out.

"What are you doing?"

Ning Qing looked up toward the source of the sound.

Garan stood under a large tree not far away, coldly looking in their direction.

Ning Qing followed his gaze downwards and saw that her hand was tightly gripping the young boy's chin.

He quickly let go and jumped back.

Chao Jialan smiled and began to explain.

"I didn't do anything. It's just that this child was kowtowing too earnestly. Look, his forehead is all red and swollen from kowtowing, and he still wanted to keep kowtowing. I was just trying to stop him."

Upon hearing this, Jialan blinked her beautiful phoenix eyes slightly.

He didn't know what had just happened to him.

Seeing how close the two of them were, the man even leaned down and tightly pinched Xiaoqian's chin, as if he was about to kiss her at any moment.

Anger welled up inside him, and he interrupted the jarring scene.

Looking back now, I realize I was indeed a bit inexplicable.

No, it's not inexplicable at all; I was doing it to protect Xiaoqian's safety.

This Grand Preceptor is not as selfless and desireless as the rumors suggest.

Beneath that ethereal appearance lies a frivolous and dissolute heart; we mustn't let him corrupt young Qian.
