4-43: "I will marry him."

4-43: "I will marry him."

When Huai Yan finished speaking, her gaze remained fixed on Jin Xiuchen's face.

He kept a close eye on the man's expression, trying to catch any slip-ups in his demeanor.

But Jin Xiuchen concealed it very well.

Not to mention that with so many people around, the man's reaction was almost flawless.

“Baby.” Jin Xiuchen bent down and held the boy’s hand, his voice sorrowful, “I’m sorry I’m late.”

The man completely ignored the boy's question, "Is it fun to mess with me?"

He took the boy's words as if they were just angry words, accepting them without question.

"You're awake." Jin Xiuchen repeated, giving a weak smile.

That smile was incredibly forced.

But the man's tone was certain, as if he was absolutely certain that the boy would wake up.

With things having come to this point, and seeing that the ward was getting increasingly crowded, Huaiyan could say nothing more.

He only gave Jin Xiuchen a silent, deep look.

There was something in his eyes, something complex and impossible to discern.

"Yan Yan." Huai Yi stepped forward, blocking Huai Yan's view.

He looked at his younger brother with concern, his voice filled with anxiety, "Is there anything else that's bothering you? Does your head still hurt? Do you feel anything in your body?"

Hearing the long string of greetings, Huaiyan couldn't help but smile.

“Brother,” he squeezed Huaiyi’s hand back and said softly, “I’m fine, I feel much better.”

"That's a lie."

Almost immediately, Huaiyi replied, "When you were feeling unwell before, you often kept it to yourself and always lied to me."

Her words also carried a hint of reproach towards Huaiyan.

Huai Yan wanted to say something more to clear his name.

Then Huai's father and mother arrived.

Huaiyi paused, then naturally took a step back, leaving the space for the couple.

Upon seeing this, the people and doctors in the ward all pushed open the door and went out.

As Huaiyan listened to her mother's instructions, she couldn't help but look at Jin Xiuchen.

After making eye contact with the man, Huaiyan calmly looked away as if nothing had happened.

Fortunately, Huai's mother hadn't discovered anything yet, and continued to give Huai Yan instructions, chattering on and on.

Huaiyi sat on the sofa in the ward, having already seen everything.

He scoffed.

Everyone knows what kind of medicine Jin Xiuchen is selling.

After chatting for about seven or eight minutes, Huai's parents left the ward at Huai Yi's urging.

The Huai couple were extremely busy, yet they still visited Huai Yan at the hospital this time.

Huaiyan didn't want them to be under so much pressure.

Furthermore, when Huaiyan logs out of the dimensional world later, his counterpart will die in that dimensional world.

At that time, the pain the couple will suffer will be a thousand times greater than it is now.

Huaiyan didn't want to see them sad, lest she feel a little reluctant to leave.

After watching the couple leave, Huaiyi stayed behind.

The tall, burly man sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, his gaze fixed on Jin Xiuchen.

Huaiyi's expression was neither angry nor happy.

He simply observed Jin Xiuchen with a scrutinizing gaze, his expression blank.

Huaiyi had investigated Jin Xiuchen.

Even before he knew about Huaiyan and Jin Xiuchen's affair, Huaiyi had already conducted a comprehensive investigation into the man.

He feared that his younger brother was too young and would plunge headlong into the tide of love, only to be deceived in terms of feelings and body.

Huaiyi has seen far too many cases like this.

He was always afraid that Huaiyan would suffer some setbacks or blows on her journey of trial and error in love.

When Huai Yan was with Jiang Feng, Huai Yi was so worried that he had to send someone to follow Jiang Feng every day.

The phrase "entrusting oneself to the wrong person" has a tremendous impact on someone who has devoted themselves wholeheartedly to a relationship.

But Huaiyi investigated for a long time, and sent out several groups of people, both big and small.

He found no flaws in Jin Xiuchen, not even a romantic history.

The other person's romantic history is completely blank, to an outrageous degree.

All of Jin Xiuchen's information was then laid out in front of Huaiyi.

Clean and honest, outstanding to the point that ordinary people can hardly reach, a prodigy, successful in his career, with a bright future ahead, and his family is almost all-powerful in City A.

A North American tycoon, a prominent figure in City A; any one of his achievements alone would be astonishing.

But this only made Huaiyi more suspicious and even more worried.

He couldn't understand why such an outstanding person would like his student.

Huaiyi had seen quite a few people like Jin Xiuchen in his years of navigating the world of fame and fortune.

From what he knew, most people were people who admired strength.

If the other party is choosing a partner, they will ultimately choose someone who is their equal in social standing and ability.

Although Huai Yan came from a prominent family, the Huai clan's strength was comparable to that of Jin Xiuchen's family.

However, if it really comes down to strength, the Huai family is far inferior to the Jin family.

Therefore, Huaiyi has not dared to make any rash moves for so long.

He was afraid that Jin Xiuchen had some ulterior motive, but he was also afraid that Jin Xiuchen had no ulterior motive.

If Jin Xiuchen has any ulterior motives, then Huai Yan will be the one being used.

Huaiyi will not allow such a thing to happen.

What I fear most is that Jin Xiuchen has nothing to do with Huaiyan; he simply likes her.

Huaiyi had no choice but to think about the future.

Once the two are together, they will eventually face their respective families, get married, and inherit their family businesses.

Leaving aside the Huai couple for now, Huai Yi can find a solution.

But what about Jin Xiuchen?

The Jin family is powerful, not only owning businesses in China, but also focusing their efforts in North America, not to mention whether they would agree to it there.

Suppose that something happens in the future, the Huai family will not be able to help Huaiyan immediately.

With his family powerful and living far away in North America, Huaiyi would have far less confidence.

Huaiyi was very scared, afraid that his younger brother would suffer some injustice, but he dared not tell him because of the Jin family's status.

"Tell me about it."

Huai Yi's voice turned cold, and his unfriendly gaze fixed on Jin Xiuchen, "Where were you two last night?"

Just this once.

Huai Yi thought, what if Jin Xiuchen didn't give a perfect answer?

He was determined to break up the couple and lock Huaiyan up in the villa.

“Brother…” Huaiyan’s ears turned red, and she wanted to explain first, “Last night, we…”

"Don't speak."

But before Huai Yan could finish speaking, Huai Yi interrupted him.

Huai Yi said meaningfully, "Let him explain it to me himself."

Huai Yan immediately shut her mouth.

To some extent, the blood ties that suppress even close brothers still exist.

The young man frowned and looked at Jin Xiuchen without showing any emotion.

Jin Xiuchen looked back at Huai Yi and answered directly, "Mr. Huai, Yan Yan was with me last night."

Huaiyi snorted coldly and said nothing.

“I will take responsibility for what happened last night,” Jin Xiuchen continued, stating calmly, “I have already had the jewelry from the auction wrapped up and sent to the Huai family.”

Upon hearing this, Huai Yi's furrowed brows and grim expression eased slightly.

Then, Huaiyi turned his head to listen to his assistant's report, seemingly to confirm what Jin Xiuchen had said.

Half a minute later, Huai Yi resumed his original sitting posture and asked indifferently, "Take responsibility? How do you intend to take responsibility? What is the plan? When do you plan to make it public? Have you taken care of things with the family?"

“Anyone can say nice things, but not everyone can do them,” Huai Yi’s voice was calm but extremely serious. “If you haven’t thought these things through before you come out and act like a big shot, I can hardly help but doubt every word you say.”

The ward was very quiet, with almost only Huaiyi's voice.

Snowflakes began to fall again outside the window.

The new snow danced in the gloomy sky, stirring up gusts of cold wind.

The wind kept pounding against the window, as if it were about to invade at any moment.

Huai Yan stopped looking and stared blankly at Huai Yi.

Then he heard the other person say something.

“Don’t say I’m making things difficult for you. You yourself said you would take responsibility,” Huai Yi said, each word firm and clear.

“You’re all adults; you have to be responsible for your actions.” Huai Yi’s gaze turned cold, and his tone suddenly dropped. “See if you really have the ability to solve this before you come out and make any guarantees.”

"Now that you've made up your mind, I'll test your sincerity."

His voice carried a warning, like a cold fire hidden beneath the frozen surface of a lake: "If you're just playing around, you can get lost now."

Huai Yan only snapped out of his daze after Huai Yi finished speaking.

Huaiyi did not forget what happened last night just because he was kidnapped.

Instead, Huaiyi kept it in mind and created a separate space for them to talk face-to-face.

This is a trial of Jin Xiuchen.

If he makes even one wrong move, he will not be qualified to stand beside Huaiyan.

“I can announce it anytime, and the public relations are all ready,” Jin Xiuchen replied in a low voice, “as long as Yan Yan nods.”

The man seemed unhurried, answering each of Huaiyi's questions with certainty.

"I will marry him."

Jin Xiuchen parted his thin lips slightly and gave his best answer, "If it doesn't work domestically, then it will be abroad. I've already had someone draft the betrothal gifts, and I'm the one who makes the decisions regarding the family."

He met Huaiyi's gaze with equal determination and seriousness, showing no sign of backing down.

"I was prepared before this," Jin Xiuchen said solemnly. "What happened today was indeed my fault, and I apologize to Yan Yan and the Huai family."

Jin Xiuchen's voice was sincere, and his words were all earnest and appropriate.

“But I will not let him suffer any more,” he said, “no matter where he is or what he does.”

Huai Yan was stunned.

This time it was for real; I was completely stunned.

His heart was pounding, and an involuntary blush rose on his face and neck.

Huai Yan's mind went blank. Despite the pain in his body, he had no heart to care about his wounds.

His throat was dry and hoarse. He wanted to say something, but he couldn't get the words out. His throat even felt tight.

"good."

It was Huaiyi who spoke first.

Huaiyi stood up from the sofa and patted Huaiyan's head.

Before leaving, he looked back at Jin Xiuchen one last time.

“Remember what you said today,” he said.
