Chapter 100 The Major General Used as Cannon Fodder (11)

While the second prince was cooperating with the investigation, the eldest prince had already been fully revived thanks to advanced technology.

Instead of taking this opportunity to completely crush his rival for the throne, he went to Ling Qiushui, essentially saying that if she was willing to marry him, he would plead for the second prince.

He has the typical villainous traits, but he's also hopelessly in love.

Both Emperor Xiu and 001 were speechless.

After a moment of silence, the former faced the empty house, pondered for a while, and finally remembered to open the personal terminal to check the messages.

When I found out about Mi Lan's messages, I learned that he was spotted by a mecha designer while selling handmade toys and was taken in as a student. Mi Xue was also taken away with him.

Milan discovered that every household on the capital planet has an AI robot that takes care of all the housework. They can't even clean their houses as well as the robot. And since the homeowner is nowhere to be found, they don't even have a chance to serve tea, water, or massage their legs.

At the time, Di Xiu only agreed to take them away from Milan Star, without saying that he would adopt them. Milan thought that she could support herself and her sister by picking up trash and repairing things, but she realized that she was too naive when she got here.

He was actually quite happy that Di Xiu didn't care about them, but even so, he felt ashamed for taking his sister to eat, stay, and use things for free. He felt uncomfortable all over, but he couldn't earn any money and couldn't find a suitable place to go.

So when he got the chance, he made some inquiries and then moved to his teacher's house with his meager belongings and his sister.

At least he could help out the teacher, which made him feel a little more at ease.

001 was focused on the StarNet and didn't pay much attention to Shen Yun's house. Feeling a bit weak, she secretly despised herself. She found information about Mi Lan's teacher on the StarNet.

"Fortunately, he's not a fraud, but his reputation isn't good. He's been expelled from academia. If Mi Lan gets involved with him, she can forget about getting into the Imperial Military Academy."

Why do you think he can pass the exam?

"Hey, didn't you make him take the exam? If he failed, why did you make him go?"

Di Xiu pressed his temples and sighed.

"If he can achieve a decent score in the entrance exam, other schools will try to recruit him."

In short, it's about getting a gilded makeover.

001 has nothing to say.

Di Xiu only glanced at it while passing by, and then went to his alma mater.

The new semester is about to begin, and the school needs to prepare for all the assessments. The first round of qualification testing and the second round of written exams have nothing to do with him. He's going there for the third round of testing: a wilderness survival exam.

In short, the plan is to send the new recruits who will be going to the battlefield to a certain planet to kill the Zerg. The location is always fixed, but someone still needs to go to the site to investigate. If the number of Zerg reaches a certain value, they will be dealt with as well.

When freshmen go to take exams, these recruits are responsible for watching over them, handling any unexpected situations, rescuing students who ask for help, and eliminating those who break down mentally.

This was a tough job, but it could also be considered a good one, as the eldest prince had kindly given it to him.

Ugh! I don't want this kind of thoughtfulness.

Wasting time.

He'd rather punch the Zerg and trample the space pirates than be a babysitter for the new students.

But one of a soldier's duties is to obey orders, and he cannot refuse.

Once inside the school, he met with the vice dean in charge of the matter. All the other able-bodied men had already arrived, and he was the only one missing. But he wasn't late, in a way.

Vice Dean Harriman was beginning to age; his short brown hair was turning gray, and wrinkles were appearing at the corners of his eyes and mouth. But his light yellow eyes remained clear, and when he looked over, they were gentle yet sharp.

Harriman smiled and began issuing tasks, leaving Di Xiu alone at the end. He looked Di Xiu up and down, punched him on the shoulder, and laughed, "You kid, I heard you went back to your alma mater last time, and I waited for ages but you didn't show up. But it's good that you're alright."

He was a friend of the original owner's father and had always taken good care of Shen Yun.

Half a year had passed since the incident on the desolate planet, and Harriman no longer specifically mentioned that he had almost died. For a soldier, being alive and well was better than anything else.

"Xiao Shen, there's no one else around, so don't put on airs. It's making me feel awkward." Harriman patted the young man's shoulder helplessly, seeing that he was still acting businesslike.

Di Xiu recalled the original owner's personality. In front of most people, he was a serious and upright soldier, but in private, he was not a lively person. He was like a lake in spring, calm and gentle.

If there's anything about these worlds that he's satisfied with, it's that he doesn't have to deliberately conform to the original owner's personality.

But Harriman was indeed good to the original owner, so he forced a smile, which startled the other person: "Is something on your mind?"

After a moment of silence, Di Xiu said nonsensically, "I just saw the news on the Star Network."

The vice dean's expression immediately faded. He sighed, sat down on the sofa, and then asked him to sit down with him.

"Actually, it was my idea to ask you to participate in and be in charge of the wilderness survival exam this time."

Di Xiu's gaze shifted slightly, showing a hint of surprise.

001 covered her mouth and chuckled: "You've misunderstood the eldest prince."

“Xiao Shen, there’s internal strife in the royal family right now. Don’t be fooled by the fact that the eldest prince is in the lead; it’s just a facade. You’ve been with him for so long, and you can see that he’s not up to the task. Based on his performance these past few days, he won’t get the position. I called you here so you could lay low for a while and avoid getting dragged into this.”

"Okay, I understand. Thank you for your concern."

"Cleansing up Ralph Star won't be easy, so be careful. You have to leave next Monday. Want to grab a drink with me tonight?"

Emperor Xiu agreed.

That night, he got Harriman drunk and left, then spent the next four days studying the world.

The StarNet experienced another outage in the past few days because 001, disguised as a surviving space pirate, accused the Second Prince of betraying his patrons and uploaded the video recording of his last encounter with the space pirate leader, effectively nailing the Second Prince to the pillar of shame.

Immediately afterwards, 001 fabricated a fake video showing the pirate leader rambling on for a few minutes before committing suicide, thus putting an end to the manhunt for this group of pirates and restoring the reputation of the First Legion.

It's not that they're incompetent and can't find it; it's that most of the people there are already dead.

Xavier couldn't understand why the charges he had meticulously prepared for Shen Yun had suddenly fallen on him, and where these pieces of evidence, both true and false, had come from. In his previous life, he had at least survived until the Zerg invasion, but in this life, it was ending before it even began.

Who is harming him?

He subconsciously thought of Shen Yun, but then felt it was impossible. No matter how powerful Shen Yun was, it was only in terms of strength. It was impossible for him to foresee his plans in advance, let alone fabricate evidence of this level.

He didn't believe it, he didn't believe that he had been given a second chance at life only to end it all in such a hasty manner, but when he was led to a completely white room and saw the bed of restraints, he had no choice but to believe it.

But he was unwilling to accept it.
