Three months later, a strange phenomenon suddenly appeared on a mountain ten thousand feet away from Taiyi Sect.
The night was dark and windy, the stars were shining brightly, but auspicious five-colored clouds gathered, vying with the brilliance of the Taiyi Sect's formation, making the sky look like a hole in the night curtain.
However, not long after, a dark cloud drifted in, steadily obscuring the auspicious cloud. In the darkness, the faint sound of thunder could be heard, and flashes of lightning streaked across the sky.
This scene immediately drew the attention of all the spiritual practitioners who were watching.
They were used to dark clouds, thunder, and lightning; some people could see them when they were undergoing tribulation. But to have auspicious five-colored clouds leading the way was something they had never seen before. There were auspicious clouds when one ascended to heaven, but that was only after the fact.
"boom--"
The sheer scale and power of the event were overwhelming, yet the sheer volume of information seemed mismatched, leaving many puzzled.
Yu Xiu stood atop Biyun Peak, gazing intently into the distance, her eyes wide with amazement.
The Sixth Elder came over, clicked his tongue, and said, "A strange phenomenon in the sky, could it be that a rare treasure has appeared in the world?"
“No, it’s… the Pill Tribulation.” Yu Xiu was born in the Medicine Immortal Valley and knew more about alchemy than the Taiyi Sect. She recognized what it was and spoke with difficulty.
The Sixth Elder's eyes widened in astonishment.
The most recent Saint-grade alchemist was the Valley Master of Medicine Immortal Valley. However, back then, he only managed to refine a pseudo-Saint-grade elixir—barely up to the required grade, but without any pill patterns, and thus failed to attract a pill tribulation.
There's no rule that only a Spirit Alchemist can withstand the Tribulation of Pills. The Supreme Elder and the Emperor Cultivator protected the pill cauldron and easily withstood the eighteen bolts of lightning.
The lightning dissipated, and auspicious multicolored clouds reappeared. On the mountaintop, a dazzling light shone, as if silently calling everyone to seize the treasure.
The lid of the cauldron was flung open, and the two elixirs attempted to escape in two separate ways, but were caught by the two guards, one each.
The pill is as white as jade, with three beautiful purple patterns on it, shimmering with a mesmerizing light, making one want to swallow it whole.
Having survived the tribulation, the originally restrained fragrance of the pill was activated, transforming into a mist that could be smelled for miles around.
After the elixir was completed, the Supreme Elder acted entirely on instinct. The way he looked at Emperor Xiu was as if he were looking at a peerless genius, or as if he were looking at a monster.
For a Spirit King to refine a Saint-grade elixir is simply outrageous.
He secretly regretted that he was not skilled in alchemy and did not gain any insights from watching. He thought that if he had invited those alchemists, he might have benefited greatly.
When the peak master of Biyun Peak arrived, he saw a glittering pill enter Di Xiu's mouth. He looked at the Supreme Elder with burning eyes, only to see the pill being snatched away by the back of his hand.
She involuntarily took two steps forward, only to crash headfirst into an invisible barrier. In the next instant, she was thrown back, her momentum unstoppable, forcefully blasting her out of the mountain's range.
Once she regained her footing, she saw an even larger barrier unfold before her.
The Supreme Elder completely ignored who had arrived and, after stopping everyone from peeping, immediately asked Di Xiu as soon as he opened his eyes, "How is it?"
Emperor Xiu nodded.
The wounds on his soul were healing rapidly, and the pain in his head was also gradually easing. However, one pill was probably not enough. The same was true for Venerable Yuqing, whose spiritual consciousness was even more severely shattered.
With plenty of materials left, he replenished his spiritual energy and continued to work in the furnace.
Down the mountain, the peak master of Biyun Peak snapped out of his daze at seeing the sacred elixir. Recalling what he had just witnessed, his heart pounded wildly, and his gaze towards the mountaintop held a hint of wariness and hatred.
Just then, a hand suddenly landed on his shoulder. Yu Zhen stepped forward and asked, "Are Grandmaster Uncle and Ling Chuan up there?"
Yu Xiu asked subconsciously, "Senior brother, is Ling Chuan also...?"
"Relax and don't overthink it."
Yu Xiu was taken aback, looked at him inquisitively, and asked, "Senior brother, do you know something?"
Yu Zhen smiled but remained silent.
No one came down from the mountain for a long time, and the barrier was not removed. All the curious spiritual cultivators who had gathered there had no choice but to go back to their own places, but they kept an eye on the place from time to time.
Two months later, the calamity of alchemy struck again.
After the pill tribulation, Emperor Xiu and the Supreme Elder returned to the sect and fed the pill to Venerable Yuqing. It melted in his mouth without much trouble.
The elders and disciples who came by the scent stared longingly, only to be scolded by the Supreme Elder and leave, looking back every few steps.
This is a legendary holy elixir, something you can only see once in your life. You'll have something to brag about, and it'll also dampen the arrogance of those alchemists in Medicine Immortal Valley.
Emperor Xiu watched for half an hour and saw that Yuqing's spiritual consciousness was gradually being repaired. He then gave half of the four newly refined pills to the Supreme Elder and went back to seclusion to absorb the spiritual pills and repair his soul and consciousness.
Two years later, Di Xiu opened his eyes, let out a long sigh, and his expression was visibly relaxed.
001 asked nervously, "Is it fixed? Are there any potential problems?"
"Um."
001 also seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
"I wonder how things are going with Venerable Yuqing."
"Let's go take a look."
However, Venerable Yuqing was unconscious; his spiritual consciousness repair was entirely automatic. Emperor Xiu was patching things up, while he was piecing together a puzzle. Emperor Xiu roughly estimated that, if all went smoothly, it would only take about one or two years.
With nothing else to do and finally some free time, he and 001 could finally think about what beneficial things they could do.
He first chose to write a book.
As mentioned earlier, there has been a break in the inheritance of array formations and talismans in this world, especially in the high-grade ones. As a result, there have been saint-grade alchemists and spirit weapon masters in the last thousand years, but the highest grade of the former two is only the eighth grade.
Emperor Xiu obtained basic textbooks on talismans and studied them for several days. He combined runes with talismans, and made slight modifications to the arrays he had seen and the ones he had figured out when he was sealed. He simplified the complex and made the difficult easy. He devoted himself to the task, working day and night (not really), and finally compiled two books.
