Chapter 93 The Major General Used as Cannon Fodder (4)

After three days of repairs, the signal tower was finally barely usable, and the Imperial Cult immediately sent a rescue request to the Legion.

Inevitably, his identity was remotely verified. Di Xiu briefly summarized what had happened and was about to end the video call when the eldest prince appeared on the other end. He was then kept talking for another ten minutes, expressing his shock and joy that the prince was still alive, as well as his grief for the fallen soldiers.

The nearest Imperial military base is 30 hours away – without using wormhole technology to travel, there are no resource-rich planets in this area, and those who live here are basically refugees.

Even though humanity has entered the interstellar age and a single nutrient solution can sustain life for half a month, some people still starve to death, which is undeniably ironic.

During the waiting period, Di Xiu stayed temporarily at the brother and sister's house and learned that the brother's name was Mi Lan, the same as the name of this planet, and the sister's name was Mi Xue.

Compared to the thin and bony Mi Lan, Mi Xue, though not plump, was not thin either. She was introverted and shy, with clear and innocent eyes. When she woke up after her fever subsided and saw that there was another person in the house, who always had a stern face, she couldn't help but feel a little scared.

After learning that the medicine that saved her was from him, Michelle was a little less nervous and scared. She listened to her brother and tried to please Di Xiu by taking out some oddly shaped little toys to share with him.

Di Xiu didn't like these little toys, but after learning that Mi Lan had found the parts and pieced them together herself, he began to pay attention to them.

001 smacked his lips twice and commented, "He does have some talent."

Di Xiu remained noncommittal, but on the day the starship arrived, he asked them if they wanted to come with him, and the brother and sister readily agreed.

They hurriedly began packing their things, giving away what they couldn't take with them to some kind neighbors.

Because they couldn't find a flat landing spot, the spaceship took a lot of effort to land. There was also a little mishap in the middle, when some locals tried to seize the spaceship but failed and were shot dead.

Mi Lan held Mi Xue tightly in her arms, her gray eyes filled with indescribable sadness. Di Xiu saw a neighbor among those people who had been kind to the brother and sister.

001 was initially happy to be able to leave, but upon seeing this scene, fell silent.

...

The First Legion was stationed on an artificial satellite outside the capital planet of the Alpha Empire, about two light-years away from Miran. This time, the spaceship directly opened a wormhole and sent them back.

Emperor Xiu was going to the First Legion, so he had the two children sent to his residence on the capital planet. It wasn't even home, because the original owner of the body might not go back even once a year.

He had to report the situation; the mechs weren't equipped with wormhole travel capabilities, so he had to figure out a way to make that up.

"You mean... a spacetime rift? A spacetime rift suddenly appeared around you and took you to the planet Milan, 0.4 light-years away?"

"yes."

Two young men across the table looked at each other. They were both in military uniforms, but the one on the left seemed less composed, his eyebrows and eyes twitching as he spoke, while the one on the right was much more composed, mostly observing the now unfamiliar major general.

The room they were in resembled an interrogation room, with a large, floating eyeball constantly circling around Di Xiu. It was said to be an interstellar version of a lie detector, capable of detecting brainwaves to determine whether someone was lying.

In the next room, some high-ranking military officers were watching.

This is also why Di Xiu felt this place resembled an interrogation room.

The impatient one glanced at the large, glowing green eyes, took a deep breath, and suppressed his temper, saying, "Major General Shen, let me confirm again, do you mean that just as you were about to be blasted into cosmic dust, a spacetime rift coincidentally appeared around you, bringing you to Planet Milan?"

"Appeared beneath the feet of my mech," Di Xiu corrected.

However, neither of these two, nor the high-ranking officer watching from next door, could accept this explanation. After thinking for a moment, Di Xiu tried to use pseudoscience to make the reason seem more reasonable.

He was even more composed than the steady one, and said in a serious tone, "The immense energy of the interstellar missile may have caused spacetime..."

The man on the left, unable to bear it any longer, slammed his fist on the table and stood up, interrupting his nonsense: "Major General Shen, do you think we're fools?"

Di Xiu remained unmoved and instead asked, "Then how do you two think I escaped to Milan Star under the attack of a stellar missile?"

The two were speechless again.

The mechs were designed entirely for combat and could not possibly be equipped with wormhole generators. The military simply did not believe Di Xiu's words, but could not find a more suitable explanation.

His mech was also towed back, and the inspection results showed that there were no extra devices. The big eye also did not detect any trace of him lying. In the end, everyone could only accept this bizarre and lucky explanation.

As he left the interrogation room, Di Xiu paused briefly and asked the two men following him, "Have the rest of the third squad returned?"

The two men fell silent, their eyes filled with pain. The composed one looked at him and said in a low, hoarse voice, "They couldn't escape the blast radius."

Di Xiu grunted in response, showing no emotion, and left.

"Why isn't he reacting at all? That's his comrade-in-arms who fought alongside him."

"Shut up. Not everyone expresses their sadness by yelling and screaming like you do."

Di Xiu had no interest in listening to their wild speculations. Seeing that it was already dark outside, he headed towards the dormitory based on the original owner's memories.

There were eight people in the dormitory. Except for Di Xiu, all the others had already sacrificed themselves. Before the new recruits arrived, it was highly unlikely that anyone would move in, because not much time had passed and their belongings had not yet been packed away.
