Chapter 001

In the seventh year of the apocalypse, Yuan Jing stood on the city wall and looked at the zombies outside. There was only one way out for them in Hope City. He wanted to ask God, why is this happening? Why can't he give them a way out?

The whole world has entered the end of the world. For Yuan Jing, as long as people are alive, it is enough. He believes that as long as he works hard, he can find a way to survive for himself and his friends in this end of the world. They have experienced countless hardships and dangers, and almost died several times. It is estimated that their names have been left in the Hall of Hell. From scratch, they have built a city of hope in everyone's mind bit by bit, but they did not expect to face the dilemma of being surrounded by zombies.

"Yuan Jing, we will block it for you. You lead a team to charge out. As long as there is life, there will be no shortage of firewood. You can find a chance to avenge your brothers later."

"Yuan Jing, this zombie siege was too sudden, without any signs. I suspect there is a conspiracy. You must get out alive and find the murderer behind the scenes for our brothers, and make him pay for the lives of the people in the city!"

"No!" Yuan Jing shook his head. "With my ability, the chance of escaping is slim. Brother Song, please stop talking. Brother Song, your mental ability can't play a big role on the battlefield, but it can help you escape and better help you find out the truth behind it. Brother Song, take your people away quickly. We will go to block it. Everyone follow me. Even if we die, we must kill more zombies."

"Charge!" One by one, the psychics followed Yuan Jing and rushed out. Song Hui wanted to catch up, but was stopped by the people behind him, who told him to remember Yuan Jing's words and not let the sacrifice of Yuan Jing and others go to waste. Everyone hoped to find out the truth.

Song Hui wiped away his tears fiercely, took one last look at Yuan Jing and the others, and then led his men to rush in another direction. Because the zombies were currently being restrained by Yuan Jing and the others, the opposite direction would be the least stressful.

When Song Hui left, Yuan Jing, who was fighting with the zombies, also looked back. He knew that this was the last time they would meet. He didn't really expect Song Hui to find out the truth and avenge them, he just wanted to give Song Hui an excuse to live.

But until the very last moment, he still felt a strong sense of unwillingness in his heart. The journey had been so difficult, and it seemed that God was against him everywhere, but he still persisted and struggled to survive for seven years in the apocalypse.

It would be fine if he died, but what about his companions? And what about the survivors of the entire Hope City? How many people would be left alive after this battle? If he was really tricked, he would be even more unwilling to accept it and wanted to find out the truth.

His superpowers were exhausted, and a zombie's claw pierced his chest. His consciousness became increasingly blurred, and he heard a heart-wrenching voice coming from far away: "Yuan Jing——"

He wanted to open his eyes to see who it was, but he kept falling until he was in the deepest darkness.

“Clang clang clang…”

"Comrade, are you okay? Comrade, you don't look very good, would you like some water?"

Yuan Jing woke up from his drowsiness and saw that the scenery around him was no longer the end of the world, but a crowded green carriage. His nose was filled with all kinds of sour and smelly smells, and he was shocked.

It was not visible on his face. Yuan Jing saw the young man next to him looking at him with concern and shook his head gently: "It's okay, thank you, I'll just take a rest."

"Okay, just lie down on the table and take a nap. Call me if you need anything."

"Thank you very much."

Yuan Jing thanked him and laid down on the small table in front of him. Ignoring the chaotic environment around him, he closed his eyes and began to sort out the contents that made his head ache. Large chunks of memories filled his mind, and he felt like his brain was about to burst. He had to grit his teeth and start receiving them.

He was clearly killed by a powerful zombie when the zombies besieged the city at the end of the world, but after his death, he heard a voice asking him if he was willing to accept the mission. As long as he completed the mission well and accumulated enough points, he would have the opportunity to be reborn and have a chance to change his destiny.

Yuan Jing nodded without hesitation and said he was willing. Even if it was not for himself, but for his companions and teammates, even if he had to sell his soul to the devil, he would give it a try.

Just after he said yes, he woke up in this body. The body he possessed was named Ji Yuanjing, and he had a strong connection with him.

But Ji Yuanjing's life was too short. It was 1973, and Ji Yuanjing was on his way to the Red Star Production Team as an educated youth going to the countryside. Two years later, when Ji Yuanjing was picking firewood at the foot of the mountain, he was unfortunately hit by a wild boar that came down the mountain. He was seriously injured and died before he could be sent to the hospital. Ji Yuanjing was only 19 years old at that time. He died in his prime years. He did not wait to return to the city to see his relatives, and stayed forever in the mountain village where he was sent to work.

If it were just this, Ji Yuanjing would not feel resentful, and he would not come. Ji Yuanjing is just a supporting role in this world, a poor little cannon fodder living in the protagonist's memory. His existence is to serve as the cornerstone of the protagonist.

Ji Yuanjing's father was a university professor. In his early years, he was reported to have overseas connections. After being criticized, he was sent to a remote farm for reform. In order to save Ji Yuanjing and the other child in his mother's belly, Ji's father took the initiative to divorce Ji's mother and let the mother and son sever ties with him. Shortly after the divorce, Ji's mother remarried with Ji Yuanjing and the other child in her belly.

Six months later, Ji Yuanjing had a younger brother named Zheng Hua. Ji Yuanjing always thought that Zheng Hua was his biological brother from the same father and mother, and treated him much closer than his stepbrother and other half-sister. Ji Yuanjing would take the initiative to go to the countryside and let his stepbrother stay in the city, hoping that his stepfather and stepsbrother would take good care of Zheng Hua for his sake.

But it was not until after his death that people found out that Zheng Hua was not his father's son at all, but that Ji's mother had been in cahoots with Zheng's father, and it was Zheng's father who reported Ji's father. Ji's mother was the one who provided the information, because Ji's father had never concealed the person he was sleeping with, while Ji Yuanjing was very sincere to this younger brother.

Ji Yuanjing died, and Ji's father did not survive on the farm. After the movement ended and the reform and opening up began, Ji's uncle came back to look for his relatives, but the only person he found was Zheng Hua, a man pretending to be of Ji's blood. Ji's uncle thought he was Ji's father's son, and took the surname Zheng to repay the Zheng family's kindness. Without any doubt, he poured all his love for his brother into his only nephew, and funded him to start a company, which made Zheng Hua and the entire Zheng family prosperous.

But at the moment when Uncle Ji passed away, for some reason, Zheng Hua revealed the truth to Uncle Ji, causing Uncle Ji to die with regrets.

Of course, the protagonist of this story is not Zheng Hua, but Zheng Hua's son, a young overbearing president. Ji Yuanjing is just a poor guy living in the corner of President Zheng's memory. However, without this poor guy, how could there be a domineering president later? His domineering president is built on the bones of the Ji family's three members.

Yuan Jing breathed a sigh of relief. It would have been fine if he didn't know what happened later, but knowing what developed later, Ji Yuanjing had simply become a joke. He was deceived by his closest relatives until his death, and was even used after his death. No wonder Ji Yuanjing was so resentful.

"What is my mission this time?" Yuan Jing asked in his mind the system that brought him to this world and possessed him.

"Ding, the host's mission: avoid death in two years, save Ji Changlin's life, reveal Zheng Hua's life experience, and let Ji Shuhua recognize Zheng Hua's true face. If the mission is successful, you will be rewarded with 1,000 points. If the mission fails, you will be locked up in a small dark room for ten years. Please work hard to complete the mission and complete Ji Yuanjing's life."

Yuan Jing thought about it and felt that this task was not difficult for him. When the wild boar came down the mountain in two years, he just had to kill it. If that didn’t work, couldn’t he just hide away?

As long as he survives in place of Ji Yuanjing, Uncle Ji's affairs will not be a problem at all. As for Ji's father, according to the subsequent plot development, Ji's father passed away shortly after receiving the news of Ji Yuanjing's death, perhaps because he was too sad. As long as he is alive and well, I think there will be no problem with Ji's father.

After finally sorting out all the things, Yuan Jing felt much better and fell into a deep sleep. When he woke up, it was already dark.

Two days later, the train arrived at the county train station where they were working in the countryside. Yuan Jing got off the train with the others, carrying his simple luggage.

The man who cared about him when he just woke up was also an educated youth. He was in the same team with him. His name was Chen Jianhua. There was also a female educated youth who came to the Red Star Production Brigade like them after communicating with them. Her name was Wang Ling.

Chen Jianhua, like Ji Yuanjing, came from the capital, while Wang Ling got on the train later. She was petite and delicate, and it was obvious that she had been spoiled at home and could not endure hardship. After she squeezed into the carriage with Yuanjing and the others, Chen Jianhua squeezed out half a space for her butt.

When getting off the train, Chen Jianhua also rushed to help Wang Ling carry the luggage. Wang Ling's luggage was much heavier than Yuan Jing's, and it included two quilts. Wang Ling blushed and thanked him. When Yuan Jing looked over, Wang Ling's face became even more shy.

Ji Yuanjing's physical appearance was very good. He was thin but fair-skinned and looked gentle, especially his eyes, which were clearly black and white, with slightly upturned corners. When he smiled, his eyes sparkled and made people unable to take their eyes away.

Chen Jianhua was a big and strong man, a typical northerner. According to Yuanjing's memory, after Ji Yuanjing arrived at the Hongqi Production Brigade, he was quite popular with girls because of his appearance, including female educated youth and girls from the village.

But Ji Yuanjing accepted no one, because he had only one idea in his mind, which was to find a way to return to the city in the future. In addition to worrying about his mother and younger brother Zheng Hua in the capital, he was also worried about his father who was far away on the farm. So he had no time to date, let alone get married and have children in the countryside.

Although Ji Yuanjing made his attitude clear, there are people in this world who will never give up until they hit the wall. As a result, Chen Jianhua, who fell in love with Wang Ling at first sight, had a bad relationship with Ji Yuanjing. He was even rejected by other male educated youth. Ji Yuanjing was so immersed in his own world that when he died two years later, he was still so beautiful in the eyes of several girls who loved him. They also left behind many regrets, regretting his early death.

Yuan Jing was quite satisfied with the appearance of this body at first, but he felt a headache when he thought about the situation later. He didn't want to be involved in any of this. He just wanted to complete his task as quickly and as well as possible so that he could return to his world earlier. Forget it, just take it one step at a time.

"Yuan Jing, hurry up, there is a reception area for our educated youth ahead." Chen Jianhua's loud voice came from the front. Yuan Jing looked up and quickened his pace.

"Comrade Ji, let me help you carry your luggage." Wang Ling took the initiative to help Ji Yuanjing.

But before her hand reached Yuan Jing, Yuan Jing stepped sideways to the other side of Chen Jianhua and said politely, "No need, my luggage is not as heavy as Jianhua's."

Chen Jianhua was responsible for the luggage of two people alone. He almost looked like a luggage rack. Wang Ling didn't share the burden at all. She seemed to enjoy Chen Jianhua's hospitality. This gave Yuan Jing a bad first impression of her.

Wang Ling's face froze for a moment, as if she understood what Yuan Jing meant. She blushed and hurriedly tried to take her luggage back from Chen Jianhua. Chen Jianhua didn't know whether he understood what Yuan Jing meant or not. Seeing that Wang Ling insisted on sharing the burden, he took out a lighter bag from the luggage.

"Comrade Wang, don't be polite to me. Gay men are just stronger than lesbians. This doesn't mean that I look down on lesbians."
