Chapter 103 Friends

Chapter 103 Friends

She gripped the hem of her clothes and shook it, her small mouth pursed, unable to utter a word for a long time.

Lu Mingyue saw through Yao Yao's little dilemma at a glance and gently pinched her furrowed brows: "Silly girl, what's there to be conflicted about?"

She turned to the two siblings and suggested with a smile, "How about this? You two go play in the yard with Xiaoman for an hour first, and then come back to help Mom taste the dishes when the sun has set a little. Then, Yaoyao can help Mom with chores and be the first to taste the freshly made dishes, and Leilei can play happily with his sister. Isn't that great?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Yao Yao's little brows immediately relaxed, and she nodded with bright eyes: "Okay! Then we'll play for a little while and come back to help Mom right away!"

Lei Lei happily took his sister's hand and urged her to run out of the yard. His earlier worries had long been washed away by his anticipation of the food and his enthusiasm for playing.

"Slower."

Lu Mingyue was worried about the children playing outside, so she asked Huo Zheng to register and bring Xiaoman in, as it would be safer in the family compound.

Bring the kids home and prepare some snacks for them to share while playing.

When the father and his two sons arrived at the door, Xiaoman was waiting there with a basket in hand. He waved happily to Leilei when he saw him.

"Leilei, I'm here."

Then, upon seeing the tall figure following behind Leilei, his eyes lit up.

“Xiaoman, you’re here. My dad said we can play in the yard. I’ll take you to my secret base to build sandcastles.”

Huo Zheng registered the information number, turned around and saw the little guy who was not even as tall as his knee, and smiled and said, "Hello Xiaoman, welcome to my house."

Xiaoman immediately stood up straight and said, "Hello, Uncle."

He always felt envious when he saw the soldiers nearby, and he wanted to become a glorious soldier when he grew up.

"Hello, let's go home first. Leilei's mom has prepared some delicious food for you."

Xiaoman handed over the basket in her hand, saying, "I also brought some delicious food. The sweet potatoes from my family are so sweet."

"Thanks."

Huo Zheng smiled and patted the little guy's head.

Xiaoman's mother knew that her son was going to visit his classmate's house, so she picked out big, plump sweet potatoes. Although her family wasn't well-off, she didn't want her son to lose face in public.

Lu Mingyue was stunned when she saw the sweet potato; it was the largest sweet potato she had ever seen, bar none!

"My God, this is huge! Xiaoman, you guys are amazing!"

Xiaoman chuckled, "If Auntie likes it, I'll bring you more next time."

The yield of sweet potatoes is high, and his family still has a lot left to eat.

"Thank you in advance, Auntie. Here, these are some snacks I made. Take them and play with them."

Leilei took the basket and said to Xiaoman, "My mom made mooncakes, chestnut cakes, and roasted chestnuts. We'll eat them later."

Xiaoman nodded emphatically; he could already smell the fragrance.

They then called Niu Niu to join them, and playing together made it even more lively.

"Leilei, your mom's chestnut cake is so delicious!" Xiaoman exclaimed.

He had eaten it once before and couldn't forget it; he never expected to have the chance to eat it again.

“I think so too,” Niu Niu agreed wholeheartedly.

"Mom is the best!" Yao Yao chimed in.

Arriving at Leilei's secret base, we thought, "There are fewer people here, so we can play in the sand without being bothered."

This was a location he had spent a long time choosing before finding it.

"Okay, let's build a big house."

Xiaoman popped a chestnut into her mouth, picked up her small shovel, and said, "Here I come!"

The beach echoed with the joyful laughter of children.

Yao Yao was wearing a little dress today and didn't want to get her clothes dirty, so she didn't join in building the sandcastle. Instead, she helped by handing things over to the side.

She squatted down next to her brother, watching the house gradually take shape, and clapped her hands happily, "Brother is so amazing!"

Lei Lei said smugly, "It's just so-so."

He looked around the house and felt it was missing some leaves for decoration. "Could you help me find some leaves, little sister?"

"Okay, I'll go right now." Yao Yao readily agreed and ran towards the trees not far away with her small, quick steps.

Leilei was completely focused on building sandcastles, while Xiaoman and Niuniu were doing the same.

Niu Niu sighed and said, "Dad said I can't sleep with Mom anymore."

"Why?" Lei Lei asked curiously, since he and his sister always slept with their mother.

Niu Niu put down the shovel in his hand. "Dad said I'm a big boy now and can't cling to Mom. He wants to sleep with Mom."

Xiaoman deeply agreed, "My dad is the same way."

Leilei asked, somewhat puzzled, "Do your parents sleep together?"

"certainly."

"Of course!" Xiaoman immediately patted her chest and replied.

Niu Niu nodded in agreement: "My mom and dad not only sleep together, but they also tell me war stories at night."

Leilei frowned and added in a low voice, "But my mom and dad don't sleep together. My dad sleeps in the east room, and my mom sleeps in the west room with me and my sister."

Upon hearing this, Xiaoman and Niuniu exchanged a glance, both showing expressions of understanding.

"Then it must be because their relationship isn't good!" Xiaoman said confidently. "My grandma says that couples only sleep in the same room if their relationship is good!"

The three children immediately became interested and started chattering about the topic.

Leilei was also made to feel uneasy, and kept staring in his own direction.

Just as Leilei was about to ask Xiaoman a few more questions, a sobbing voice suddenly came from behind him. He knew immediately that it was his younger sister, Yaoyao.

"Oh no! It's Yao Yao!" His heart skipped a beat, and he jumped to his feet, not even bothering to drop the shovel he was holding, and rushed toward the sound of crying.

Xiaoman and Niuniu quickly followed, the three little figures running forward. Leilei called out to Yaoyao as he ran, his voice full of anxiety.

Leilei ran there breathlessly and immediately saw Yaoyao squatting on the ground crying.

Her newly changed floral dress was covered in several black and yellow mud stains, making it look dirty.

He followed Yao Yao's gaze and saw the Cui brothers, Xiao Jun and Er Jun, standing not far away. They were still holding wet yellow mud in their hands, and their fingertips were covered in mud. Obviously, the dirt on Yao Yao's dress was caused by them.

Leilei blushed instantly, quickly went to his sister's side and helped her up, then turned to glare at the Cui brothers, his small voice filled with anger: "How could you throw mud on Yaoyao!"

He supported the sobbing Yao Yao, glared at the Cui brothers, his little chest heaving with anger: "You dirtied my sister's dress, apologize now!"

Cui Erjun hid the yellow mud in his hands behind his back, and snorted with a stiff neck: "Serves her right for standing there blocking the way!"

Cui Xiaojun nodded in agreement, his grip on the mud tightening. Though a hint of panic flickered in his eyes, he refused to back down: "That's right, it wasn't intentional."

These words made Leilei even angrier. He shielded Yaoyao behind him, clenched his little fists, and leaned forward: "You can't throw mud at me if I'm blocking your way! If you don't apologize today, I'll go tell your mother!"

Yao Yao was still sobbing, her little hands clutching Lei Lei's clothes, the mud stains on her skirt particularly noticeable.
