Chapter 106 Awkwardness

Chapter 106 Awkwardness

As soon as Lu Mingyue reached the alley entrance, she saw the Cui brothers blushing as they greeted Yao Yao and then quickly ran away.

She didn't stop walking, but her gaze lingered on the children for a moment before she waved to Leilei and Yaoyao.

"Mom!" The brother and sister immediately ran towards Lu Mingyue.

Lu Mingyue squatted down, first helping Yao Yao tidy her bangs that had been messed up by the wind, then took out a piece of fruit candy wrapped in transparent candy wrapper from her pocket and stuffed it into her hand: "Are you tired after playing all afternoon? I'll cook sweet potato porridge for you when we get home."

Yao Yao clutched the candy, her eyes sparkling, and Lei Lei nodded with a smile.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, everyone, regardless of age, only gets one day off.

After the holiday, Lu Mingyue was busy packing Leilei's schoolbag.

The new exercise books and sharpened pencils were placed in the pencil case and then packed into the schoolbag.

She was fastening her baby carrier straps when Huo Zheng walked in carrying a thermos and stuffed the thermos filled with warm water into it.

"Today I'm taking him to school and moving some things from the east room over."

Lu Mingyue paused in her actions, looked up to meet his gaze, and saw the confident smile in his eyes, so she nodded gently.

The words weren't explicitly stated, but both of them understood.

Leilei has been asking his parents why they don't sleep in the same room these days. They've already made it clear that they don't want to be coy, so being coy would just make them seem distant.

After seeing Leilei off, Huo Zheng returned with a half-worn wooden box on his shoulder. Lu Mingyue had already cleared half of the space in the west room wardrobe.

He bent down to put clothes in the closet, and she helped him fold the bedding. The two chatted as they worked.

The bedding rolls in the east room were packed away, while the wardrobe in the west room was filled to the brim.

Huo Zheng stood at the door, looking at the cozy room that had been tidied up, and nodded in satisfaction. This was what a home should feel like.

The children's rooms have been tidied up.

Yao Yao also expressed that she wanted to sleep alone, since her brother could sleep alone, so could she.

Lu Mingyue was afraid he would be scared, so she made him another doll, one on each side, to keep him company.

Yao Yao lay on the bed, tossing and turning, hugging her two dolls, and jumping around happily.

Sleeping alone is so nice; not only do I have a big bed, but I also have dolls made by my mom to keep me company.

That evening, Leilei also enjoyed the luxury of sleeping in his own big bed after returning home, and both siblings were very satisfied with it.

"It's getting late, go to sleep." Lu Mingyue reached out and pulled down the light.

The room instantly fell into darkness, with only the moonlight filtering in from the window outlining their silhouettes.

As soon as she lay down, she felt Huo Zheng quietly reach out his arm and gently wrap it around her waist.

Lu Mingyue's body stiffened slightly, her fingertips pressed against his arm, and in a half-hearted push and pull, her breathing gradually became erratic.

Just as the atmosphere was getting more intimate, she suddenly remembered something, reached out and pressed Huo Zheng's hand, her voice carrying a hint of barely perceptible embarrassment: "Wait a minute."

Huo Zheng paused, then asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"

"We've run out of family planning supplies at home." Lu Mingyue buried her face in the pillow, her voice barely audible.

In the darkness, she could feel Huo Zheng's body stiffen, followed by his puzzled laughter, "How could they be gone? I remember there were several more in the drawer."

As he spoke, he got out of bed and, under the moonlight, opened a drawer and searched carefully.

Lu Mingyue propped her head up, speechless as she looked at him. Didn't he know his own limitations?

Doesn't he know how many he used that day?

A few minutes later, Huo Zheng finally resigned himself to the fact that it was really gone.

"How come my wife ran out of time so quickly?"

Lu Mingyue pinched his waist hard and said reproachfully, "It's all because of you, and you still have the nerve to say that."

Huo Zheng sighed and didn't insist anymore. He simply tightened his arms and pulled her closer to his chest. His warm breath fell on the top of her head, which made her feel more at ease.

After a while, the burning sensation behind me persisted.

"Honey, I'm going out for a bit, you go to sleep first."

Then, Lu Mingyue heard the sound of cold water being poured from the corner of the courtyard; he had actually gone to take a cold shower.

When he returned, he carried a slight chill with him, but he only gently pulled her closer to his arms and did nothing else. Soon, her steady breathing reached her ears.

The next day happened to be a day off, so Huo Zheng ate breakfast and went out with his pockets in his hand.

Upon reaching the hospital entrance, he paced back and forth twice until he noticed that the nurses' station was empty, at which point he quickly slipped into the office.

"Comrade, I've come to collect some family planning supplies." He lowered his voice, his ears turning red involuntarily.

Just as he finished speaking, a doctor in a white coat came out of the inner room, smiling as he handed over an oil paper package: "A military dependent, right? This is what you're entitled to according to regulations. Here you go."

Huo Zheng took the things, clutched them tightly, and practically fled the health center.

That night, the two finally made love. It is said that once a man has tasted the sweetness of meat, he is like a hungry wolf, and Lu Mingyue felt that this was absolutely true.

The following afternoon, Lu Mingyue noticed that the oil paper wrapping was empty while tidying up the drawer, and she turned to Huo Zheng and mentioned it.

The two exchanged a glance, both feeling somewhat embarrassed.

Taking advantage of the fact that the health center wasn't too busy in the evening, Huo Zheng simply dragged Lu Mingyue along, which was better than facing those scrutinizing gazes alone.

I walked into the consultation room, and it was the same doctor as last time.

When they came again, he was taken aback for a moment, then laughed and joked, "It's understandable that newlyweds are full of energy, but this stuff is a fixed amount per person, so you have to be more careful."

As she spoke, she took the family certificate from Huo Zheng and added while registering the documents, "This time it was an extra one that I specially applied for from the hospital. There won't be this special case next time."

Huo Zheng's ears turned bright red instantly. Clutching the newly received oil paper package, he pulled Lu Mingyue and quickly walked out.

Only after leaving the health center did Lu Mingyue burst out laughing: "Now the whole health center knows about us."

Huo Zheng turned to look at her, a hint of embarrassment in his eyes, but he still reached out and took her hand: "I knew it, I knew it. I think it's definitely not just us who are like this."

After dinner, Leilei and Yaoyao went to bed early. Huo Zheng helped Lu Mingyue clean up the dishes, and the two sat side by side on the bed.

He suddenly remembered what the doctor at the health center had said during the day, and whispered, "Now that we're settled, how about we think about having another child?"

Family planning supplies are limited, and they cannot use them without restraint.

What if he accidentally got pregnant? He wanted to ask Lu Mingyue's opinion first.

Lu Mingyue paused in her needlework, looked up at him, and said seriously, "I don't want to for now. You see, Leilei has just started preschool, and Yaoyao is still young. These are the kinds of children we need to take care of."

She reached out and smoothed the hem of her clothes, her voice softening, "Besides, I'm still young. The women in the neighborhood say that childbirth is extremely painful, and I don't want to suffer like that so early."

Seeing the hesitation in her eyes, Huo Zheng reached out and took her hand, gently stroking the back of her hand with his fingertips: "If you don't want to, then don't. I was just mentioning it casually."
