Chapter 11 Meeting Between the Two Parties

Chapter 11 Meeting Between the Two Parties

With trepidation, Huo Zheng and Lu Mingyue stood at the entrance of the family compound.

Huo Zheng was slightly relieved to find that the other party lived in the family compound.

As fellow soldiers, he shouldn't be given a hard time, right?

Zhang Chengliang and Zhang Songwu returned home early in the morning. Lu Mingyue was bringing people to their house. After finishing their work, they rushed back, bringing with them the investigation results.

Ren Huifang came out of the kitchen carrying dishes and glanced worriedly into the bedroom, "Has Miaomiao not come down yet?"

Upon seeing the investigation results, Zhang Miaomiao couldn't help but cry. She wiped her tears and ran back to her room, where she didn't come out for a while.

Fang Dashan had indeed been divorced several times, just as Lu Mingyue had said, and had children in his hometown.

He is currently living in a rented room, and the surrounding residents say that an elderly couple often comes to visit him with their children.

The stark truth was laid bare before Zhang Miaomiao, and she had no choice but to believe that she had been fooled like a fool. She felt both ashamed and angry.

Not to mention she was angry when she saw it, when Zhang Songwu received the report, he almost couldn't control his impulse and wanted to beat the person up to vent his anger.

"I'll go up and take a look."

Mingyue will be back with her people soon; let's not let people laugh at us.

With Mingyue's biological mother gone, her godmother has to hold things together.

As soon as she untied her apron, Zhang Miaomiao came downstairs with red eyes.

Her eyes were bloodshot, indicating she had been crying for a long time.

Ren Huifang stepped forward and looked at her with concern: "Is Miaomiao alright?"

Zhang Miaomiao shook her head, feeling a little guilty as she looked at her family members who were looking at her with concern. Because of a scumbag, her whole family had to worry about her.

"Mom, I'm fine. Mingyue will be back soon, right? I'll help you with that."

Ren Huifang pulled her hand and sat her down, tucking her messy hair behind her ear. "No need, I'm done. You can sit here and rest for a while."

Zhang Songwu clenched his fist. "Don't worry, Miaomiao, your brother will definitely avenge you."

"Don't....."

Her brother holds a position in the military, and if this matter were to affect her, Zhang Miaomiao would be too ashamed to stay at home any longer.

"Ouch."

Zhang Songwu was kicked by his father. "Can't you be a little more composed? This isn't urgent. Let's discuss it carefully. I'll be the first to object to anyone bullying our daughter."

He let out a cold snort, like the Bull Demon King.

Zhang Miaomiao was amused and reassured him, "I'm really fine. It's just a man. Three-legged toads are hard to find, but there are plenty of two-legged men!"

"That's right!"

Lu Mingyue stood at the door for a while, and couldn't help but agree when she heard this.

Upon seeing someone enter, Zhang Miaomiao quickly went to wash her face, her tear-streaked face making it impolite to greet people.

Huo Zheng stood tall and straight, looking as if he were waiting for his superiors to inspect him.

Zhang Songwu glanced at his shoulder insignia and clicked his tongue in displeasure. How could someone so young have a higher rank than him? His arrogance immediately diminished by half.

The other half relied entirely on Lu Mingyue's family for support.

Huo Zheng put his things down and respectfully saluted and greeted his elders.

When Zhang Chengliang saw the medals on his body, a hint of admiration flashed in his eyes. He was even more satisfied when he learned that he had served on Shashi Island.

Ren Huifang stepped on his foot under the table. He hadn't even said much, yet he was already being manipulated by someone in just a few words. He's unreliable!

"Xiao Huo, I heard you have two children. May I ask why you and your children's biological mother separated?"

This is Ren Huifang's main concern. If they could separate peacefully, that would be fine, but if it were to involve domestic violence or something, wouldn't Mingyue be jumping into a fire pit if she married him?

Lu Mingyue, who was eating quietly, also perked up her ears. The book only briefly mentioned that Huo Zheng had two children, without giving any specific details.

[System, can you find out why?]

System: [No, the system does not have this information.]

The Zhang family members sat up straight, now they could only listen to Huo Zheng speak.

Huo Zheng didn't intend to hide it from them; he came here prepared to explain.

"The two children are the orphans of my good brother."

The living room fell silent as everyone looked at each other, pondering many possible answers, but none of them had anticipated this reason.

Huo Zheng continued to recount what had happened.

Huo Zheng and his siblings' father were comrades-in-arms from the day they enlisted in the army. After Huo Zheng got married and had children, he became the godfather of the two children.

The brother and sister were three years apart. Before the sister was born, they went to the border to carry out a mission. The brother was unfortunately shot and killed. Before he died, he entrusted the child to his care.

He was devastated. He took his brother's ashes home, only to find his baby sister and his brother crying his eyes out.

The children's mother suffered severe bleeding during childbirth and died, leaving the two children without anyone to care for them.

Since then, Huo Zheng has registered the two children under his own name.

He brought his two children to a blind date, which scared off many women along the way. They either urged him to send the children away or suggested that he give them away separately.

Huo Zheng naturally couldn't agree to that. He had watched the two children grow up, and they were no different from his own.

For all this time, Lu Mingyue was the first person who was willing to marry him.

[Waaaaah, the babies are so pitiful. I never realized Huo Zheng was such a good person.]

Upon hearing this, Huo Zheng looked over and saw that Lu Mingyue's eyes were as red as a rabbit's.

Tears welled up in her eyes, but she stubbornly held them back.

Ren Huifang couldn't help but shed tears when she thought of her friend. The young man was kind-hearted, and she could barely consider him to have gotten through this ordeal.

The meal was enjoyed by both host and guests, and Huo Zheng breathed a sigh of relief as he sensed their gentle attitude.

They are Lu Mingyue's family; their attitude speaks volumes.

When Huo Zheng left, Lu Mingyue saw him off.

"How is Meng Xiaoling's situation?"

"They might be sent for re-engineering."

According to regulations, doing such a thing to a soldier is enough to get her into serious trouble.

As long as she doesn't cause any trouble, it's fine. If she dares to do something like this, she should be prepared to bear the consequences.

"I bought a train ticket for tomorrow morning. I'll come pick you up then."

They are leaving for the island tomorrow.

After seeing Huo Zheng off, Lu Mingyue returned home to find Ren Huifang sitting in the living room waiting for her.

Why isn't godmother asleep?

Ren Huifang patted the seat next to her, "Your godmother has something to tell you."

Lu Mingyue sat down.

Ren Huifang took out a box from behind her back, which had a delicate little lock on it.

"These are things your mother asked me to keep for you, saying they were part of your dowry. Now it's time to hand them over to you."

Lu Mingyue, completely bewildered, carried the box back into the house. Looking at the somewhat familiar keyhole, she took out a small key from her wallet.

This is something Lu Wenzhen repeatedly told her to keep safe before she passed away, and not to let anyone else know about the existence of this key.

With a "let's give it a try" attitude, Lu Mingyue inserted the key into the lock.

A few seconds later, there was a 'click' sound, and the lock opened.

Upon seeing the contents of the box, Lu Mingyue held her breath and stared wide-eyed.
