Chapter 141 Not Envious

Chapter 141 Not Envious

For dinner, Leilei drank a full bowl of chicken soup and ate most of a roasted sweet potato, completely relieving his previous fatigue.

His eyes sparkled as he grabbed Huo Zheng's hand and shook it: "Dad, teach me how to fold paper airplanes! Niu Niu said he's going to take paper airplanes to school for a competition tomorrow, and I want to fold one that flies the farthest."

Huo Zheng had just finished washing the dishes. He wiped his hands and nodded with a smile: "Okay, but you have to finish your homework first. After you finish, Dad will teach you how to fold the most amazing airplane."

Upon hearing this, Leilei immediately ran to the table, picked up his workbook, and began writing carefully, even completing the math problems that he usually dawdled over very quickly.

After Leilei put away his homework, Huo Zheng took out a few used homework sheets from the drawer.

He sat on a small stool and taught Leilei step by step: first fold the paper into a triangle, then fold the two corners towards the middle, then turn it over to fold out the wings, and finally pinch out the pointed nose.

"Dad, look, did I fold it correctly?" Lei Lei folded it once and held up the crooked paper airplane, asking.

Huo Zheng took it and looked at it, then helped him straighten the crooked wing: "Almost there, you need to fold it neatly here, the wing can only fly far if it's flat." As he spoke, he demonstrated it again.

Lu Mingyue sat to the side sewing clothes, watching the father and son folding paper airplanes head to head, and couldn't help but smile.

Yao Yao also joined in, took a piece of colored paper, and tried to fold it like them. Although what she folded didn't look like an airplane, but rather a small paper ball, she still had a lot of fun.

Before long, several paper airplanes were laid out on the bed, including a pointed fighter plane folded by Huo Zheng and a chubby airplane folded by Lei Lei.

Huo Zheng stood up and pulled Lei Lei into the yard: "Let's try to see if we can fly over the yard wall."

As he spoke, he threw the paper airplane into the air. With the help of the wind, the airplane "whooshed" over the courtyard wall and landed outside.

Lei Lei stared wide-eyed, then imitated Huo Zheng and threw his own paper airplane. Although it didn't fly over the courtyard wall, it flew quite a distance and landed under a tree at the gate.

He excitedly ran over to pick it up, then ran back to Huo Zheng's side: "Dad, I want to fold more. Tomorrow I'm going to bring three airplanes. I'm sure I can beat Niu Niu."

Huo Zheng ruffled his hair: "Okay, Dad will teach you how to fold one with a tail fin, so it will fly more steadily."

The father and son went back inside and continued folding paper airplanes under the dim light, while Yao Yao joined in with her own little paper ball.

Before going to bed, Lu Mingyue carried the boiled water into the room, placed the basin by the bed, added some cold water to test the temperature, and then called to Leilei, "Leilei, come and soak your feet. It'll be more comfortable to sleep after soaking your feet."

Leilei had just finished looking at the new paper airplane Huo Zheng had folded when he heard this. He immediately ran over, took off his socks, and put his feet in the basin. The warm water covered his ankles, and he sighed comfortably, "Mom, the water is so warm."

Lu Mingyue sat down next to him, rubbing his little feet, and then gave Huo Zheng a look: "You rub the child's shoulders and arms. He must be exhausted from cleaning today. Don't wake up tomorrow with aches and pains all over his body."

Huo Zheng put down the newspaper in his hand, walked over and sat behind Lei Lei, gently held his little arm and slowly massaged it along the muscle lines.

When we first started massaging him, Leilei was chattering about school, but after a while, his voice got quieter and quieter.

Lu Mingyue continued to rub his feet, and seeing him nodding his head, she smiled and said, "This child, he almost fell asleep while soaking his feet."

Huo Zheng also lightened the pressure in his hands, massaging his arm and then his shoulder, his movements so gentle as if he were afraid of waking him.

Lu Mingyue looked down and saw Leilei leaning against Huo Zheng's chest, his eyes tightly closed, his little mouth slightly open, already snoring softly.

"She fell asleep after only soaking for a few minutes."

Huo Zheng shook his head helplessly and amusedly, carefully took Lei Lei's feet out of the basin, dried them with a cloth, and then helped him put on socks.

Lu Mingyue then spread out the blankets, and the two of them gently placed Leilei on the bed and covered him with the blankets.

Yao Yao was fast asleep, her little face flushed.

Lu Mingyue turned off the lights and tiptoed out of the house with Huo Zheng.

Huo Zheng said softly, "I'm really tired today. I can even fall asleep while soaking my feet."

Lu Mingyue nodded, her heart filled with heartache: "The child is young and looks lively, but he can't withstand much fatigue. A foot massage and a foot soak will help him get a good night's sleep."

As soon as it was getting light, Leilei got out of bed. Unlike usual, when he would linger in bed for a while, he stretched out with great energy, swinging his little arms and legs like a little windmill.

"Mom, my shoulders don't ache anymore, and my arms don't hurt either."

He ran to the stove, grabbed Lu Mingyue's hand and shook it, then raised his arm to show her, bouncing around as if he had completely lost his fatigue from the previous night.

Lu Mingyue was cooking porridge when she saw his energetic spirit and playfully pinched his nose: "Looks like your dad's efforts to soak your feet and massage your shoulders last night weren't in vain. You're like a little tiger again today."

Lei Lei chuckled and turned to rummage through his schoolbag. Inside were three paper airplanes that he and Huo Zheng had folded together last night. He carefully took them out and placed them on the table, confident that he would win against Niu Niu today.

After Huo Zheng finished washing up, he came into the room and saw Huo Zheng grinning foolishly at the paper airplane. He teased him, "Want me to teach you how to fold a super fighter jet? I guarantee it will fly even farther."

Leilei's eyes lit up, and he was about to nod when he looked at the clock on the wall and stamped his feet anxiously: "No, no, I'm going to be late, Dad, please take me to school quickly."

Lu Mingyue handed him the freshly heated steamed buns: "Eat a couple of bites of steamed buns before you go. You can't go on an empty stomach."

Leilei took the steamed bun and finished it in a few bites. He then grabbed a piece of pickled vegetable and stuffed it into his mouth. He picked up his schoolbag, grabbed Huo Zheng, and ran outside, saying, "Mom, let's go. I'll tell you about my victory when we get back tonight."

Huo Zheng smiled helplessly, waved to Lu Mingyue, and was then dragged by Lei Lei towards the school.

Leilei clutched the paper airplane tightly in his hand, his short legs running as fast as he could, muttering, "Hurry, hurry, Niu Niu must be at school waiting for me already."

As soon as I arrived at the classroom door, I saw the students gathered in a group at the back of the classroom, chattering away.

He squeezed in curiously and overheard Xiaolong proudly saying, "My mom gave birth to a little brother yesterday. He's tiny, and his eyes are closed like a kitten's. When he grows up, he can come with me to raid bird nests and collect seashells at the beach."

"Really? It's so great to have a younger brother." The classmates next to them all crowded around to ask, their eyes full of envy.

Lei Lei stood to the side listening, but he didn't feel envious. Instead, he thought of Yao Yao.

"I'm not envious at all," Lei Lei suddenly said, his clear voice startling his classmates.

Xiao Long turned his head and asked defiantly, "Why aren't you envious? You have a younger brother to play with."

Leilei tilted his little face up and said proudly, "I have a little sister. Yaoyao is younger than me, but she will hand me an eraser and share her candy with me. We can also play hide-and-seek together. She's even better behaved than my little brother."
