Chapter 15 Family Destroyed and People Killed
Rewind to an hour earlier, and Lu Mingyue finally escaped the rocking of the ship.
The moment my feet touched the ground, I felt my heart finally settle back down.
"Drinking some water will make you feel better."
Huo Zheng gently patted her back.
Lu Mingyue had been vomiting on the boat for a while, and her stomach was full of acid. It took her a long time to recover while holding the water bottle.
"Have some fruit to calm your nerves."
Huo Zheng handed over a piece of hawthorn cake, which he had bought at the ticket office at the dock.
Lu Mingyue didn't get seasick the whole way, but she unexpectedly got seasick as they approached their destination.
After eating hawthorn cake, Lu Mingyue felt as if she had finally come back to life.
She still walked unsteadily and had to rely on Huo Zheng's arm to move forward.

Lu Mingyue forced a smile and said, "Hello, I'm Lu Mingyue."
"Are you seasick? You look terrible."
Qin Lie is straightforward and says what he thinks. Seeing Lu Mingyue's pale face, he figured she was probably seasick, not angry with Huo Zheng, right?

The system excitedly replied, "Of course!"
Qin Lie looked up at the bright sun and felt a little dizzy.
His expression shifted from joy to confusion, then to bewilderment, and finally, he tried to control his expression, looking at Lu Mingyue with some suspicion.
Huo Zheng glanced sideways and nodded in greeting.

"Let's go back. It's about a ten-minute walk to the family compound. You can rest for a while on the way."
Huo Zheng spoke softly to Lu Mingyue.
Lu Mingyue nodded. After arriving on the island and feeling the real ground beneath her feet, the dizziness in her head eased considerably, and she even had the energy to inquire about Qin Lie.
[System, if I remember correctly, Qin Lie and Huo Zheng are so close they'd practically share a pair of pants.]
The system immediately responded: "Yes, Qin Lie is a pitiful person."
Lu Mingyue: [Heh, in your eyes, who isn't a pitiful person?]
The system was furious, like a pufferfish. [Do you still want to know what happens next?!]
Lu Mingyue watched Qin Lie's retreating figure and said calmly, "I don't want to."

She didn't notice that after she said her refusal, the person in front of her froze, and the car left an arc on the straight road.
Fortunately, things returned to normal quickly, and Lu Mingyue glanced at it without giving it much thought.

Qin Lie felt as if he had fallen into an ice cave. Although the sun was shining brightly outside, he was covered in cold sweat.
He couldn't help but look at the sun, wondering if he had been sunburned and gone mad.
He looked at his good brother. With years of tacit understanding, he only needed one look from his brother to understand what the other was thinking.
Huo Zheng shook his head slightly; now was not a good time to talk.
Qin Lie's throat bobbed. "Is your sister-in-law alright? Something ran past ahead, and I stepped on the brakes in a moment of panic."
Lu Mingyue shook her head, "I'm fine."
When the brakes came on, she lurched forward, her nose nearly hitting the back of the seat in front of her.
If it gets any worse, this face will be disfigured.
Qin Lie lost control the moment he heard that the children had been switched. He was eager to know if what Lu Mingyue said was true.
"That's good. Don't worry, sister-in-law, I will make sure you get back to your family home safely."
It would have been better if he hadn't said that, because once he did, Lu Mingyue felt even more insecure. She gripped the doorknob with both hands and nodded with a tense expression.
He looked completely disbelieving.
Qin Lie: No, it was really an accident. He's a very good driver!
Now is not the time, so he restarted the car and continued on his way.
Lu Mingyue closed her eyes to rest, but was actually chatting with the system.

He glanced at Lu Mingyue, who was fast asleep, and whispered, "Let's talk about it after we get off the bus."
The car quickly arrived at the family compound. The Huo family's houses were in the ones near the coastline, which were quite far from the main gate.
Qin Lie drove them home, but before they even reached their doorstep, they saw a crowd of onlookers.
Qin Lie parked the car on the side of the road and went home with Huo Zheng carrying their things.
Lu Mingyue still held her small bundle tightly and followed them forward.
During this period, they continuously observed the situation in the family compound.
Most of the rooms in the family compound are single-story houses with their own entrances, while some live in the tenement buildings at the back.
All the vacant spaces along the roadside were turned into small vegetable gardens.
It's the season when plants grow rapidly, and she tiptoed inside to look; several pumpkins were perched on the branches.
Not far away, there are various fruit trees and vegetables, creating a vibrant scene.
It seems that Sandstone Island isn't so bad after all.
"...This really brings shame to Comrade Huo..."
These words drifted into the ears of the three people.
