Chapter 37 Take Care of Yourself
Qiu Ju and her son sat for a while longer, and only left when Huo Zheng brought lunch over at noon.
"The doctor said not to eat too much oily food for the time being, so I ordered a few vegetable dishes."
Huo Zheng explained.
He set up a small table, opened his lunchbox, and found three dishes in total.
Egg soup, stir-fried greens, tomato and egg, and three servings of shredded chicken noodle soup.
At first glance, it looks like eggs having a meeting.
Lu Mingyue wasn't hungry at first, but the aroma made her feel a little empty in her stomach.
"Shall I feed you?"
She still had needles in her hand, making it difficult for her to eat, so Huo Zheng picked up chopsticks to feed her.
The two children watched longingly.
Yao Yao: "Daddy, I'm feeding Mommy."
Leilei nodded, "My sister and I will do it, Dad will rest."
Lu Mingyue: ? She wanted to say, "Can't we just not use anyone?"
Huo Zheng pretended not to hear what the two children were saying, but don't think he didn't know they were feeding each other because they thought it was fun.
Leilei and Yaoyao did have this idea. In the past, their parents always took care of them. This was the first time they had the opportunity to take care of their parents, and it felt different.
Lu Mingyue snatched the chopsticks from Huo Zheng's hand and hurriedly said, "I can do it myself."
She can use both hands normally, so receiving an IV drip doesn't interfere with her work at all.
Yao Yao looked at her mother eating with her left hand and exclaimed in surprise, "Mom, you're just as smart as my brother!"
My neighbor once said that people who can eat with their left hand are smart.
Yao Yao is often proud that her brother can eat with his left hand.
Now that I see my mother eating with her left hand, my pride is doubled.
She watched with envy and picked up an egg with her left hand. Her hand trembled as if it were out of her control, and she had to crane her neck to catch the egg in time.
As she chewed the egg, she thought with lingering fear, "Luckily I caught it."
Lu Mingyue picked up a piece of food for her, and the little one ate it with relish while holding the lunchbox.
Huo Zheng only prepared food for three people. The two children had small appetites and couldn't finish a bowl of noodles, so he ate some leftovers.
Lu Mingyue finished the whole bowl of noodles and lay on the bed, burping contentedly.
Seeing this, the two children also wanted to lie down next to her.
The abduction of the children caused varying degrees of trauma, making them even more dependent on their parents.
When Huo Zheng was around, the two kids were always attached to him.
When Huo Zheng was about to go out, the two children clung to Lu Mingyue.
Lu Mingyue asked Huo Zheng to lead them to sit on the next bed. She was still recovering from her cold, and it wouldn't be good if she infected the children.
"By the way, what about the things we bought?"
Lu Mingyue then realized that they hadn't seen the three turns and one sound that were most important for them when they entered the city, and Huo Zheng hadn't seen them when he drove her back to the guesthouse last night either.
"I took him home this morning."
He was supposed to go back to his unit to report today, but this happened unexpectedly. Lu Mingyue also caught a cold and couldn't be left alone. He was worried about leaving the three of them at home, so he asked his superiors for two more days off.
"What about getting the marriage certificate?"
Huo Zheng: "No rush, your health is the most important thing."
When he brought Lu Mingyue to the hospital, he was undoubtedly scolded by the doctor again.
The doctor was worried that the father and son would catch a cold, so he prescribed preventative medication.
Okay, I'm still sick anyway.
Knowing her own body best, Lu Mingyue felt that her fever had subsided after the injection. The hospital was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and she really didn't want to stay any longer.
After the IV drip was finished, Lu Mingyue had a slight cough and a low-grade fever. After the doctor prescribed the medicine, Huo Zheng went to the pharmacy to pick it up.
Lu Mingyue and her brother and sister waited in the ward for the time being, and she led them through the cotton rope.
Getting the medicine should be quick, but Huo Zheng hadn't returned for almost half an hour, so Lu Mingyue glanced outside and decided to go out and check.
"Leilei and Yaoyao, let's go find Daddy."
Leilei carefully put the cotton rope in his pocket, then held his sister's hand and followed behind.
After asking the nurse for directions to the pharmacy, Lu Mingyue led her two children outside.
The pharmacy is on the other side of the ward, requiring you to cross the large courtyard in the middle.
The courtyard was arranged like a small garden, with a small pavilion and a ring of lush wisteria around it.
Lu Mingyue looked left and right and thought the scenery here was quite nice. The sea was not far away, and she could clearly hear the sound of the waves.
If this were in later generations, it would definitely be considered a luxurious private room on the bay.
Yao Yao held her brother's hand in one hand and her mother's hand in the other, hopping and skipping between them.
With a bright smile and crescent-shaped eyes, she looked exceptionally happy.
Suddenly, her gaze fixed on a certain spot, her eyes blinking, and she stopped in her tracks, curious.
Lu Mingyue noticed that she had stopped and turned around to ask, "What's wrong, Yao Yao?"
Yao Yao pointed with her little hand, "Daddy's over there."
Following the direction of her finger, Lu Mingyue instantly sensed the juicy gossip.
Not far away, Huo Zheng looked at the person in front of him with displeasure. "Comrade Shen, I have other matters to attend to. Please move aside."
Shen Baoqin stood stubbornly in front of him, blocking him from leaving.
"Comrade Huo, I truly like you, so why won't you even glance at me?"
Lu Mingyue: [Holy crap! System, who is this person? He looks like a follower of Huo Zheng.]
Hearing the familiar voice, Huo Zheng looked around and finally spotted a familiar hem of clothing behind the wisteria.
He withdrew his gaze and said coldly, "Comrade Shen, I am already married. You'd better watch yourself from now on."
After saying that, he turned and left.
Shen Baoqin watched his retreating figure with resentment, stomped her feet in anger, and followed Huo Zheng with her gaze.
She wanted to follow him, but she was afraid he would complain to her father.
Shen Baoqin feared nothing and no one, except her father with a stern face.
She had been scolded by her father before because of Huo Zheng's incident, and dared not provoke him again.
Huo Zheng was holding medicine, but there were no visible injuries on his body. Was he getting it for his children at home?
As Shen Baoqin pondered this, her expression suddenly changed.
Huo Zheng didn't return to the ward. Instead, he stopped a short distance away and said to the group of one adult and two children behind the wisteria, "Aren't you afraid of bugs?"
"Where are the bugs?!"
Lu Mingyue quickly stood up and patted her clothes, afraid that some insects might land on her.
The two children also busied themselves looking for insects.
Lu Mingyue caught a glimpse of Huo Zheng's smile out of the corner of her eye and realized that he had been teasing her. She said angrily, "Did you do this on purpose?"
Huo Zheng quickly raised his hand to prove his innocence, "There really are bugs, look if you don't believe me."
He took a wriggling worm off Lu Mingyue's shoulder, and Lu Mingyue immediately stopped.
It seems he was wronged.
"All right."
She was clearly still angry. Huo Zheng touched his nose, realizing he had gone a bit too far.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were afraid of bugs."
Huo Zheng assured that this would not happen again.
Lu Mingyue crossed her arms and raised her chin, saying, "You said it."
Her face regained its lively expression, completely unlike the lifeless look she had in the morning.
Seeing her lively and energetic appearance, Huo Zheng felt relieved.
The harmonious and loving scene of the family was particularly jarring to Shen Baoqin.
