Chapter 43 Not to be trifled with

Chapter 43 Not to be trifled with

Give me your candy!

Niu Niu covered the candy in her hand and backed away, her little face scrunched up, pouting as she looked at the person in front of her unhappily, "I won't give it to you, you big bad guy."

Leilei stood in front, hands on his hips, and said, "Sun Jiabao, you're not allowed to bully Niu Niu."

Sun Jiabao saw the candied hawthorn in Leilei's hand. The bright red candied hawthorn was coated with a layer of sugar, and it looked particularly tempting in the sunlight.

"Hey, give me the candied hawthorn right now, or I'll beat you up."

He noticed that Yao Yao also had a string of candied hawthorns in her hand, and a wicked smile appeared on his lips. He had all his snacks for the day.

Yao Yao's eyes widened in fright, and she hid behind her brother, somewhat scared.

Lu Mingyue didn't hear the children's voices for a moment. When she turned around, she found that they were a few steps behind. When she walked over, she found Yao Yao huddled up.

"Yao Yao".

Hearing her mother's gentle voice, Yao Yao turned around in surprise and ran towards her mother's arms.

"Mom, the bad guys are coming!"

When Yao Yao saw her mother, her fear subsided somewhat. With her mother there, the bad guys definitely wouldn't dare to bully them.

Lu Mingyue saw the chubby boy standing not far away, wearing clothes stained with oil, his face all bulging together, squeezing his eyes into slits.

In an era of austerity, how could a child be so overweight? Either the family is rich, or the child eats all the food in the house.

"Mom, he is Sun Jiabao."

Sun Jiabao is Aunt Sun's grandson. He lives in Sunjia Village, which is not far away. Sun is a common surname in the village.

Sun Jiabao's eyes were fixed on the candied hawthorn in Leilei's hand, his gaze filled with determination.

Lu Mingyue stepped forward to block his view, "Little Fatty, what do you want to do?"

Sun Jiabao didn't recognize her, but he noticed her disdainful look as she looked away from the fish she was carrying; he hated eating fish.

"What's it to you?"

Sun Jiabao is eight years old this year. Influenced by his family, he uses foul language all the time and has no basic manners when he sees people.

Lu Mingyue felt an itch to punish him; this brat really needed to be taught a lesson.

"You don't need to know who I am, but you can't bully my son."

Lu Mingyue revealed her fist, which was as big as a sandbag, and waved it a few times in the air, looking quite intimidating.

Sun Jiabao dared to show off in front of his peers, relying on his strong physique and fearlessness.

But he was a little scared when facing someone older and taller than him. He was quite fleshy, and if they really started fighting, he would be the one who suffered.

"What's wrong with Mingyue?"

When Zheng Xiuying came back from buying some seafood next door, she saw Lu Mingyue blocking the children's way. Upon closer inspection, she realized that the person standing opposite her was a child she didn't recognize.

Niu Niu tugged at his mother's clothes and said, "Mom, he's the one who stole my chicken cake last time."

When Aunt Sun came to the family compound last time, she brought her grandson with her. Since Huo Zheng wasn't home, the two little brats weren't worried about him telling on them.

Once Sun Jiabao entered the Huo family, it was like a mouse entering a rice jar; he ate up all the few snacks the family had.

Just then, Niu Niu came over with a sponge cake, which Sun Jiabao snatched and stuffed into his mouth.

Even when he and Leilei fought together, they couldn't beat him and ended up getting themselves dirty.

After returning home, Niu Niu didn't dare tell his mother about it. It was only after Zheng Xiuying repeatedly pressed him that he finally told her.

Zheng Xiuying couldn't swallow her anger at her son being bullied, so she took him to confront the bully.

When they arrived, they learned that Aunt Sun had fled with her grandson, fearing they would come looking for her.

Leilei and Yaoyao, the two siblings, were left at home without food. She didn't care about causing trouble for Aunt Sun and took the two siblings home.

Later, busy with other things, she temporarily forgot about the matter. However, after her son reminded her, Zheng Xiuying rolled up her sleeves.

"Little fatty, you're the one who bullied my son, aren't you?"

Sun Jiabao chases chickens and dogs every day and does a whole host of bad things. He has long forgotten when he bullied Niu Niu.

But seeing the two adults standing in front of him, he nervously swallowed.

No, it wasn't me.

He clenched his pants, afraid of being spanked.

"Baby, where have you been? You scared Grandma to death!"

A mournful wail broke through the crowd as Granny Sun, her thin body squeezing through the throng, held her eldest grandson tightly in her arms.

Lu Mingyue's eyes widened the moment she appeared.

This man is as thin as a bamboo pole, while his grandson is as fat as a balloon; apparently, Sun Jiabao ate all the food.

After comparing the two men's fighting abilities, Lu Mingyue was certain of victory.

"Grandma, I want to eat candied hawthorn."

Sun Jiabao pointed with his chubby little hand.

Before even looking at it, Granny Sun agreed, "Okay, Grandma will buy you candied hawthorns right away."

Following the direction his grandson was pointing, they saw Leilei standing there, his expression slightly stunned, clearly very surprised to see them there.

Huo Zheng's job is special; he has to go on missions every one or two months. Aunt Sun knows that he cares about his two children, and without adult supervision, the two children rarely leave the family compound.

When Granny Sun saw Leilei at the market, she felt inexplicably guilty. Thinking of the things she had taken from the Huo family, she forced a smile.

"Leilei came to the market too? Who came with you? Can you let your brother Bao try some candied hawthorns? You know we're poor and can't afford candied hawthorns."

Lu Mingyue frowned. What was wrong with this old lady? Not only was she robbing things, but she was also crying poverty in front of a five-year-old child.

What does it matter to Guan Leilei if her family is poor? Her grandson's meager food, even if it leaks through his fingers, is enough for her to have a month's worth of dry rations, and she wouldn't be as thin as a bamboo pole.

"What does it matter to us if you can't afford candied hawthorns? Look how fat your grandson is, it's no problem if he eats a few less bites."

Lu Mingyue spoke without holding back, and Granny Sun's face instantly turned red.

People around them were pointing and whispering.

"That woman is right. Look how chubby your son is. When he grows up, he'll eat the family into poverty."

"Exactly, how dare they ask a child for food? It's so embarrassing."

Granny Sun's face does look like that of an honest person, but her nasolabial folds are too deep, and there are faint vertical lines on her forehead. In addition, her overall temperament has changed.

His entire demeanor exudes an aura of formidable strength.

Granny Sun glared fiercely at the person who spoke, "What's it to you? It's easy for you to talk when you're not the one suffering. What if my grandson gets thin from hunger?"

The people around her stared, clearly shocked by her shamelessness; how could this old woman have the nerve to say such a thing?

They glanced silently at Sun Jiabao's plump figure, then at Granny Sun's skinny, claw-like fingers, and remained silent.

Granny Sun vented all her anger on Lu Mingyue, giving her a fierce glare. She thought Lu Mingyue looked like a vixen, making others speak up for her.

"Who do you think you are? You think my grandson can eat whatever he wants?"

"Don't talk about my mother!"

"Don't talk about Mom!"

The brother and sister could tolerate being scolded, but they couldn't tolerate their mother being bullied. They stood in front of their mother, their eyes blazing with anger as they glared at Granny Sun.
