Chapter 7 The Beloved Concubine
The next day,
The Empress Dowager had a big argument with the Emperor because of his favoritism towards Luo Xi, and she suffered a stroke from the anger.
Upon hearing this, Zhuzhu hurriedly ran into the hall and told Luoxi about it.
"Now, everyone in the Imperial Medical Academy is at Cifu Palace."
Luo Xi frowned and gently tapped the armrest of the chair with her long, slender, white index finger.
Why did they have to argue today of all days, and she was dragged into it too?
Would the Emperor take his anger out on the Empress Dowager because of her stroke? After all, it was because of her that the Empress Dowager argued with the Emperor.
Luo Xi stood up and walked outside. "Let's go, let's go see Cifu Palace."
She trusted Physician Wang's medical skills; she believed that the medicine he administered would not be detected by the other physicians.
Cifu Palace
Si Chen looked at the imperial physicians kneeling before him, his face grim. "So, you're all out of options, is that it?"
The imperial physicians said, "Your Majesty, we are powerless to help."
Si Chen closed his eyes and shouted angrily, "Get out, all of you, get out!"
"Yes, Your Majesty."
The imperial physicians scrambled out of the room...
Si Chen felt very guilty looking at the Empress Dowager lying on the bed after suffering a stroke.
If he hadn't argued with her, would she... would she not have become like this?
Ultimately, it's all his fault.
If he could just bear with it, that would be fine.
As soon as Luo Xi arrived outside Cifu Palace, she heard Si Chen's angry shouts.
Luo Xi really didn't want to go in.
However, as a concubine, she had no choice but to go in.
Just then, the other concubines arrived.
Luo Xi then led them inside.
Si Chen's gaze was fixed on Luo Xi, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
Consort Li saw it, and her eyes flickered.
She still has some people in the palace.
She knew why the Emperor and Empress Dowager had argued: it was because of the Emperor's exclusive favor towards the Imperial Concubine.
Now, the Empress Dowager has become like this.
Will the Emperor still favor Consort Gui as much as before? Certainly not. In fact, the Emperor might even take his anger out on Consort Gui because of the Empress Dowager's illness.
The favor bestowed upon the Imperial Concubine will be far less than before...
When a concubine falls out of favor, it means their opportunity has arrived.
Apart from the Imperial Concubine, she is now the most beautiful woman in the palace.
She looked at the Emperor's incomparably handsome face, lowered her eyes, and concealed the determined ambition in them.
Luo Xi naturally noticed the Emperor's gaze upon her.
She didn't need to look to know how conflicted and complicated his heart was.
She didn't say anything, letting him figure it out himself.
Fifteen minutes later,
Si Chen told Luo Xi and the other concubines to go back first.
Jade Palace
Luo Xi glanced casually at the lily of the valley outside the window. In truth, she did not regret causing the Empress Dowager to have a stroke. After all, if the Empress Dowager were lucid, she would continue to target her.
Out of respect for her father and brothers, the Empress Dowager naturally dared not take her life, but she would suffer some hardship. And she least wanted to suffer; hadn't her father and brothers suffered enough at the border? Therefore, the one who would "suffer" was the Empress Dowager herself.
As for the Emperor, that depends on what he thinks.
If he takes his anger out on her, ignores her, distances himself from her, or even lets other concubines ride roughshod over her, it doesn't matter.
At worst, she could just let the country have a different master.
Si Chen probably doesn't know that he has several of her people around him. If he even has the slightest thought of hurting her, she'll make him leave immediately...
