Chapter 68
After get off work, Song Xianle stopped a taxi and told an address based on his memory.
Zhu Yan just sent her a WeChat message, saying that she came to Liaokai University as an assistant teacher and wanted to come and get together with her tonight.
Zhu Yan and she were roommates in college, and in the dormitory, she and Zhu Yan had the best relationship.
Zhu Yan is a graduate student majoring in English and is currently studying for a doctorate at Ninghua University in the neighboring Jiangnian City. He just started working at Liaokai University in early September this year.
When Zhu Yan heard that Song Xianle had returned to China, the first thing he did when he came to Liaokai was to look for her.
This really touched Song Xianle.
Song Xianle vaguely remembered that Liaokai University was not far from where she currently worked. Thinking of this, Song Xianle's mind raced, and she was secretly surprised: She thought, she could start with her circle of friends.
Song Xianle told Zhu Yan that she went to see her, saying that she wanted to visit the school. But her real reason was to evoke He Yanqing's old feelings for her.
Sitting in the car, Song Xianle was frantically thinking of pictures and texts for tonight's circle of friends. How could she make He Yanqing notice her and quickly recall the happy times they had together?
As she was thinking, her hand had already opened WeChat, ready to look through He Yanqing's WeChat and his Moments. However, Song Xianle scrolled through the address book several times, almost flipping through it completely, and still couldn't find He Yanqing.
After a minute or so, it dawned on her that she had deleted him a long time ago.
Hiss, this is difficult.
Song Xianle held his forehead in frustration, and the look of despair on his face made the driver silently slander him in his heart: Another young man who didn't do his job well.
Song Xianle was conflicted. She opened her phone's address book again and looked for He Yanqing's number, but there was no such person.
The original owner was ruthless and cruel.
She had originally thought of playing the emotional card, hoping to get He Yanqing to change his mind about her because they were once friends. However, if it were her, would she still harbor illusions about her ex-boyfriend who had long since deleted all her contact information?
Of course not.
If it were her, she might secretly curse her ex dozens of times when she saw the red exclamation mark on WeChat.
Song Xianle was worrying about how to add He Yanqing back when a WeChat group popped up.
She clicked on it and saw that it was a university class group.
Song Xianle was delighted. If there was a class group, it would be easy to add them on WeChat again.
The class monitor sent a message saying that he was getting married and that he wanted to invite all the classmates to attend his wedding.
As soon as the news came out, there were blessings and ridicules from the audience.
There are sincere blessings, there are jokes and interruptions, there are unexpected...
Fortunately, they have a class group, otherwise I would have to ask in person.
Song Xianle clicked on the upper right corner, found He Yanqing's WeChat, and then stopped at the box that clicked to send a friend request.
Do you want to make up a reason?
Song Xianle moved his right hand hesitantly, writing and deleting in the box.
Well...I'd better not write it.
She struggled in her heart for a while, and finally clicked send without adding anything.
After completing this series of actions, she exited the interface displaying member avatars and sent a blessing message to the group. After sending it, she turned off her phone with a guilty conscience. Although she felt a little uneasy, the result was as she expected.
After a while, Song Xianle turned on his phone again, and the message that He Yanqing had passed the verification came.
With a smile on her face, she clicked on the chat box with him, typed "hi~", and attached a "hello" emoticon.
The reply she received was a yellow round face smiling - a smile that many people tacitly accepted as a death smile.
Song Xianle knew that the "good thing" she had done had been discovered. She found it difficult to explain it to him clearly, so she had to play dumb and replied with a friendly-looking emoticon - a GIF of two Teletubbies holding hands.
Arriving at the destination, the driver pulled over to the side of the road and told Song Xianle in Mandarin with a hint of dialect: "We're here."
Song Xianle put away her phone, picked up her bag and got out of the car.
As soon as he got off the car, a breeze blew, ruffling Song Xianle's hair.
Standing outside the community, Song Xianle looked up at the buildings with similar structures, and the idea popped into her mind: Building F, No. 1308, should be where she lives.
She slung her bag over her shoulder and walked steadily forward. On the way, she met her neighbor, a young woman wearing a white dress, delicate makeup on her face, and a bright smile. She was just coming out, and the two of them met.
Song Xianle and she looked at each other, nodded and smiled.
"It's time to get off work."
"Yeah, I was at work just now." Song Xianle replied, "Are you going on a date now?" She glanced at Zhang Mo's clothes from head to toe, and it seemed that he was going on a date.
"My boyfriend is waiting for me outside now." Zhang Mo said with a smile.
Song Xianle sensed the joy she exuded, and she said, "Have fun."
She watched Zhang Mo walk past her with confidence, and realized that being in love could be like this.
Thinking back to when she was with He Yanqing before, she didn't seem that happy.
β
On Song Xianle's way home, He Yanqing was in the elevator, holding his mobile phone in his right hand and looking at the newly added WeChat friends, and holding a black briefcase in his left hand.
There were only five messages exchanged on WeChat, including the verification message.
He remembered that they rarely chatted on WeChat, and rarely had voice or video calls.
His roommates all said he was lonely in his relationship. He didn't chat or call his partner, and only occasionally went out for dinner.
At that time, He Yanqing explained to them that they were already seniors and were busy during graduation season, so it would be nice to have some time to have a meal together.
Now that I think about it, the reason for their breakup was also due to this time factor.
He Yanqing left the company and did not go home, but went to his sister's place.
He Nianqing is now a sophomore at Liaokai University. He happens to work at Liaokai University, which is not far from his sister's school, only half an hour's drive away.
This afternoon, He Hai and Tan Xian'er brought a bunch of things to Liaokai to visit their daughter. Thinking that their son also worked in Liaokai, they asked him to come over if he was free today so that the family could get together and have a meal.
He Yanqing set off immediately after finishing the more important work at hand.
Passing by Liaokai University, He Yanqing couldn't help but feel nostalgic. Although his workplace was very close to here and the commute was not far, he hadn't been here since graduation. Due to work commitments, he hadn't come to see He Nianqing off when she enrolled.
He Yanqing parked his car in the parking space in front of Liaokai University and called He Nianqing.
"I'm at the school gate. Where are you and your parents?"
He Yanqing heard Tan Xian'er's scattered praises from inside: "Nian Nian, this one looks good," "White is nice," "White is more beautiful"...
When He Yanqing heard this, he knew that the three of them had gone shopping.
He held the steering wheel and opened the car window a wide gap to let the outside air flow in.
He Yanqing listened to the voices inside: He Nianqing's hesitation about which one to buy, He's mother's careful selection, and He's father's urging them to hurry up...
At this moment, He Yanqing's face was peaceful, but helpless. He could feel the crazy expression on He's father's face.
"Are you done shopping?"
"Brother! We're waiting for you at the Dianjian Restaurant. Go over there first, we'll be there soon."
When He Hai saw He Yanqing calling to say she had arrived, he said to the mother and daughter, "I'll just buy the white one. Nian Nian looks good in it. I've been struggling for so long, and now Yanqing is here."
After saying that, He Hai asked the clerk to take the white skirt to check out.
He Nianqing and Tan Xianer knew that He Hai was getting impatient, but he didn't dare to tell them.
He Hai paid the bill and carried the shopping bags. Like a guard, he let them go ahead and said, "Let's go, princesses."
The mother and daughter smiled at each other.
"Oh, Dad~"
"You are the best!"
He Nianqing skipped happily to He Hai's side, held his arm around his waist, and rubbed her face against his shoulder like a kitten for several times.
He Hai patted He Nianqing's hand helplessly, "He Nianqing, I knew you would do this."
He Nianqing and He Hai were bickering with each other, and Tan Xian'er was watching them with great amusement, saying a few words from time to time, which made He Hai very happy. The boredom and impatience he had just felt were soothed away, and the family walked forward talking and laughing.
β
Song Xianle dressed up, donning a sleeveless aqua dress and no accessories. She tied her hair up in a high ponytail. Her outfit was no different from what college students typically wear when going out for a stroll, fitting seamlessly into the crowd of students' nightlife.
She took a taxi to Liaokai University and parked at the south gate of Liaokai University.
Song Xianle stood under the stone sculpture, watching the people coming in and out of the school gate, a nostalgic smile on her face. She raised her phone, took a picture of the words "Liaokai University", and then took a picture of the surrounding scenery.
As soon as Zhu Yan arrived at the school gate, he saw the blue Song Xianle. She walked forward steadily, and her pace gradually quickened.
"String music!"
βYan Yan!β
The two hugged each other for a long time as soon as they met.
"Yanyan has become more beautiful."
"You are the one who is getting younger and younger. I thought you would stay abroad and find a job there."
"How could that be? I will return home sooner or later."
Zhu Yan and Song Xianle met again rarely, so they decided to walk along the way, taking a look at and visiting these old places.
After walking for half an hour, the two talked a lot on the way. Song Xianle knew that Zhu Yan had a boyfriend, whom she had met during her graduate school years.
"I heard that He Yanqing also works at Changfu. Aren't you also working at Changfu now? How come..." Suddenly, Zhu Yan touched Song Xianle's shoulder with a curious look on his face, "Have you seen him?"
Song Xianle heard Zhu Yan's voice lower, so she also lowered her voice and said to her, "I saw it."
Zhu Yan opened his mouth into an O shape and looked at the woman beside him with wide eyes. "Do you know that I heard that He Yanqing hasn't had a girlfriend since you, and you haven't had a boyfriend abroad either? Are you still thinking about each other?"
When he was still in college, Zhu Yan thought that He Yanqing was a good boy. He was good-looking, capable, and had a good temperament, but his personality was a little cold. However, personality is not easy to classify as good or bad. You can't say that this personality is good and that is bad. It depends on who has it and who can accept it.
Back then, Song Xianle and He Yanqing had similar personalities, but not quite. When they were seen together again, Zhu Yan and the other people in the dormitory were shocked. Everyone was wondering: How did they end up together? There had been no signs of it before.
Maybe the impossible is possible?
As soon as Zhu Yan said this, Song Xianle knew that she was thinking about a reunion drama with her ex, so she immediately interrupted: "Don't think too much, we broke up peacefully."
Although Song Xianle wanted to win He Yanqing back, she didn't want to let anyone know too soon. She didn't like discussing matters of the heart too much with others.
"Okay, okay, I won't say anything more. Let's see if you two are destined to meet again."
Zhu Yan and Song Xianle came to a food street and were looking for a restaurant to have a meal.
This street has been almost completely renovated. Looking around, some of the shops are newly opened. Zhu Yan and Song Xianle want to find a shop that has existed since they were studying.
"Huh? This one is still here."
Song Xianle followed her voice and movements and saw Zhu Yan pointing to the green sign in the east with the four big words "Dianjian Restaurant" on it.
