Chapter 94

Chapter 94

Shen Jiangfu took an hour-long bus ride to the station. A few minutes before getting off, she had already called a car so that she could transfer to the hotel as soon as she got off.

Yu Huo held a Western-style wedding, skipping the bride-picking ceremony and holding the ceremony directly in the hotel.

The wedding ceremony started at 1:50 in the afternoon. A welcoming photo of the bride and groom was placed at the entrance. Seeing Yu Huo's bright smile, Shen Jiangfu also smiled unconsciously and took a photo facing the door.

Shen Jiangfu paid the membership fee at the door and was then led to her seat by someone.

The wedding didn't end until nearly five o'clock. Before leaving, Shen Jiangfu said goodbye to Yu Huo from a distance and left, taking a taxi to Xiangshan Supermarket.

The cold dishes and cold noodles at Xiangshan Supermarket are very famous. They use special sauces, so the taste is different from other cold dishes.

This was what Shen Jiangfu learned from chatting with Yu Huo a few days ago.

However, upon hearing the name Xiangshan Supermarket, Shen Jiangfu's taste buds instantly rekindled her memory. The original owner had also attended No. 1 Middle School before, and she must have been to Xiangshan Supermarket and eaten the cold dishes sold there.

After Shen Jiangfu arrived at the supermarket, she went to the third floor according to her memory and went straight to the cold salad area.

It was past five o'clock, the time to get off work, and there were a lot of people in the cold salad area, all gathered in a group.

Shen Jiangfu walked forward and saw a variety of noodles on the plate, some thick, some thin, some round, some flat. They were probably drizzled with soy sauce, and they were golden yellow, which made them look more appetizing.

A staff member handed Shen Jiangfu a pair of tongs and a small transparent bowl. Shen Jiangfu picked a little of each type of noodles and a few side dishes. After weighing them, she told the chef who was making the seasoning to pack them separately and add a fried egg.

The areas selling cold noodles and cold dishes are separate. Chen Jiangfu went to the area next door selling cold dishes and selected some vegetarian dishes and braised meat, which were packed separately.

Chen Jiangfu calculated the time to go to the station to catch the last bus back to Ningfu Town. The last bus was at six o'clock, and time was a bit tight. After buying the cold salad, Chen Jiangfu went to pay.

It was already 6:40 when she checked out and found that the car she called was still on the road. She waited for a few minutes, then remembered that the lanes were easily congested during the evening rush hour. She then gave up on the online car-hailing service and rode a shared electric bike to the station herself.

Arriving at the station, it was already past six. At 6:05, Shen Jiangfu hurriedly passed through security and ran to check her ticket. Fortunately, the bus hadn't left yet, so she quickly boarded. As she boarded, the driver glanced at her and said with a hint of annoyance, "Why are you taking the bus if you're not punctual?"

Hearing this suddenly, Shen Jiangfu, who had just gotten in the car, was startled. She stopped walking towards the car and smiled at the driver, "Sorry, sorry, sorry."

Shen Jiangfu looked at the clock in the car and saw it was 6:08, eight minutes overdue. This was indeed her fault, and Shen Jiangfu did not refute him.

It was already dark when they returned to the station. It was almost eight o'clock when Shen Jiangfu arrived at Xie Jing's house. The electric car arrived directly at Xie Jing's door, and Shen Jiangfu went up to ring the doorbell.

After a while, the door was opened.

When Xie Jing saw Shen Jiangfu carrying something, he stepped aside to let her in.

"I was right, wasn't I? You'll be back at eight o'clock as expected." Shen Jiangfu put the things on the table. She picked out a few portions for Xie Jing and put them aside.

"You should have studied at No. 1 Middle School before, right? Have you ever been to Xiangshan Supermarket? I went there a few times with my classmates when I stayed on campus on weekends and tried the cold dishes there. Even Yu Huo thought it was delicious! She recommended this cold dish to me after eating it. She's not from here, her family is in Beiquan Province."

Xie Jing looked at the three boxes on the table and recalled some memories. He remembered that the student sitting in front of him had eaten in the classroom when he was in high school. "I haven't eaten it, but I have seen others eat it."

Shen Jiangfu saw that Xie Jing had a calm expression and looked uninterested.

She glanced at the three boxes on the table. If he didn't like it, she might take some back.

"Don't you like cold dishes?" Shen Jiangfu asked directly.

Xie Jing heard this and shook his head. "No, I haven't eaten it. I don't know if I like it or not."

Shen Jiangfu heaved a sigh of relief when she heard this. She didn't need to bring back some cold dishes. She couldn't finish so much by herself.

Although it can be refrigerated for a while, she would get tired of eating it for a day or two. Besides, she didn't know how long it could be refrigerated before it expired.

"Have you had dinner yet? You didn't wait for me and you haven't had dinner yet, right? If not, now's a good time to eat. I bought cold noodles, cold vegetables, and braised meat." Shen Jiangfu took out two pairs of chopsticks from the bag and put them in Xie Jing's hands. She saw Xie Jing looking at her with an inquiring expression.

Xie Jing took the disposable chopsticks and saw Shen Jiangfu greeting him warmly. He felt a novel feeling in his heart, as if the weather had been cloudy and suddenly there was a heavy rain or it suddenly turned sunny.

Xie Jing didn't have time to control his gaze, and subconsciously stared at Shen Jiangfu, saying the words he had been struggling with that afternoon, "I didn't eat, you said you would wait for me to come back."

When Shen Jiangfu heard this, her pupils widened instantly. She raised her hand and touched the back of her head. She looked at Xie Jing's face. His face was as serious as ever, and no expression could be seen. Only his eyes were different from before, with a bit more dependence and gentleness.

It's like raising an unfamiliar puppy. At first, it ignores you and plays alone. But after a few days of getting along, it slowly lets down its guard and starts to approach you.

Shen Jiangfu tugged at the corners of her mouth, trying to force a smile. Her mood was now a mixture of embarrassment, surprise, and subtle joy, the three emotions circulating in a cycle. She blurted out, "Great."

After she finished speaking, Shen Jiangfu realized what she had said. Her body became sluggish, her eyes darted around, and she revealed an expression of disbelief.

This was the original owner's usual catchphrase during class.

Xie Jing's reaction was a beat slower than Shen Jiangfu's. He felt a little embarrassed when he heard what she said. He stopped looking at Shen Jiangfu and rubbed his palm uncomfortably. "Thank you."

Hearing the word "thank you" and seeing Xie Jing looking silly and dazed, Shen Jiangfu had never seen Xie Jing like this before. He seemed a little honest at the moment, and this feeling was very inconsistent on Xie Jing.

Shen Jiangfu laughed dryly twice, not knowing what to say for a moment.

Xie Jing also felt that the atmosphere between them was a little strange. He saw the supermarket shopping bag in Shen Jiangfu's hand and asked, "Did you often buy these foods when you were in school?"

"Occasionally." Shen Jiangfu thought about the past and it seemed that she didn't go to the supermarket often.

She was actually quite curious about Xie Jing's life in high school, wondering why he had made the bold decision not to go to university? Why was he so certain he would pursue a career in painting? At the time, Xie Jing wasn't a well-known figure in the art world, a relatively unknown figure. It was only in the last year or two that he gradually gained recognition, and his paintings became a hit.

Shen Jiangfu didn't dare to ask directly, for fear of offending others.

The same went for Xie Jing. He didn't know how to break the silence at this moment. He knew Shen Jiangfu's identity information, and it seemed that he knew a lot about her. It seemed that she was a person who was easy to approach and understand, and it was easy to establish a connection with her.

However, he felt that Shen Jiangfu had things that she didn't want to reveal, things that he didn't know and couldn't let him know.

The two of them only had sporadic conversations, and both stopped at the information revealed by the other party, not daring to delve deeper.

Shen Jiangfu glanced at the clock on the wall and felt that she should go back. "It's almost nine o'clock. You eat first. I'll go back first."

When Xie Jing heard this, he immediately turned around and took a look. At 8:20, he looked back at Shen Jiangfu without saying a word, with a hint of surprise in his eyes.

Shen Jiangfu seemed to understand his expression, as if to say: It's almost nine o'clock? There's still so much time left.

She shrugged and smiled, "I'm exaggerating. It's almost half past eight. I'm going home first."

"good."

After Shen Jiangfu finished speaking, she walked out. Xie Jing put down his chopsticks and followed her to the door. Shen Jiangfu turned the car around and got in. Xie Jing saw that she was about to leave and said, "I will finish all of this. Thank you."

"You're welcome." Shen Jiangfu put the bag away and turned to Xie Jing with a relaxed smile, "I'm going home. Bye."

"Yeah, bye." Xie Jing stood there and nodded.

Seeing Xie Jing nod again, Shen Jiangfu was amused. "It seems that nodding has become your signature move." She imitated his movements, nodding and saying in a low voice, "Bye."

Xie Jing felt embarrassed when he saw this scene. He didn't know if she imitated the real person, but he knew that she looked a bit childish now. He imitated the way she greeted him before, slowly raised his hand over his shoulder and waved to her, "Bye."

Shen Jiangfu put away her smile, deliberately kept a cold face, and nodded to Xie Jing again, "Yeah."

Xie Jing saw that she was imitating him, and a flush of heat came to his face, as if burning his heart.

Shen Jiangfu had been paying attention to Xie Jing's expression. Seeing that Xie Jing was a little embarrassed and his expression was no longer as cold and distant as before, she looked at him meaningfully and said, "I'm leaving."

Seeing Xie Jing nod to her, Shen Jiangfu turned around and rode her bike home.

After Shen Jiangfu left, Xie Jing returned home and closed the door. He walked to the table and opened all three boxes. Looking at the fried egg on the noodles, Xie Jing took out his chopsticks and picked up a bite, then ate the noodles with cold vegetables and braised meat.

While eating, he thought that he had never bought anything for Shen Jiangfu.
