Xin Sanlang looked at the young man, then at his two brothers, and finally nodded:
"Okay, let's carry him into the house and give him a simple bandage. Once we're done, we'll go find Uncle Li in the village."
Uncle Li is the village doctor.
After three years of drought, this one doctor was the only one left in the nearby villages.
The brothers nodded, and one of them carried the boy to the empty room in their home.
She called Mrs. Xin Dasao and Mrs. Xin Ersao over and used a piece of cloth to bandage the boy's wound.
The other one, together with Xin Saburo, moved all the bodies to the cart at home.
The bodies were transported to the back mountain through the back door one by one.
They dug another pit and buried all the bodies.
By the time they had cleaned up the blood on the road outside and in their own yard, the sky was beginning to brighten.
"It's in the next yard. Let's go check it out later."
After everything was done, Xin Sanlang looked at his two brothers and said.
Naturally, the two brothers of the Xin family did not disagree.
Death is very heavy.
In just a short while, the three brothers had been running back and forth, and they were more tired than after working all day.
"Then please ask Uncle Li to come. I'll go wash up first, as I have to go to the yamen soon. Big brother and second brother, you can rest at home today. Anyway, the work in the fields is almost done."
The two brothers nodded repeatedly: "Okay."
"If anyone asks about what happened last night, just say you don't know. As for the child, he's the child of my wife's distant relative. Just say he came from the north. Don't say anything else."
The two brothers nodded in unison, indicating that they understood: "Don't worry, third brother, I will tell your sister-in-law."
Xin Sanlang smiled and patted his two brothers on the shoulders:
"Okay, I'll go wash up first. Big brother, second brother, I'll take care of the house."
"Hey! We're brothers, why are you talking about this? Go quickly. I'll go get Uncle Li."
Xin Dalang said this and walked out the door, quickly running towards Uncle Li's house.
After Xin Sanlang finished washing up, he changed his clothes.
Yang Sanniang and Old Lady Xin had already prepared breakfast and asked him to eat before leaving.
Xin Dalang also quickly invited Uncle Li to the Xin family.
Old Lady Xin took Uncle Li to see the young man and told Xin Dalang:
"Wash it quickly, it's going bad."
Xin Dalang responded.
Mrs. Xin had already prepared water and clothes for him.
Xin Dalang hurriedly took a bath and changed his clothes.
"Old Li, please take a good look at this child. How badly is he injured?"
Uncle Li checked the boy's injuries: "Sister-in-law, this..."
As soon as she saw Lao Li's expression, Old Lady Xin knew what he had seen.
After all, although they had taken off the boy's clothes, the wounds on his body could not be hidden from others' eyes.
Especially, Lao Li is a doctor.
The obvious sword wound could not be hidden at all.
But Old Lady Xin spoke directly:
"Hey! This is a distant relative of our third brother's. I don't know if this child got lost, but he took a long detour and rolled down the mountain. Well, to be honest, he's lucky. Even if he was accidentally injured by a trap on the mountain, at least he's still alive."
After hearing this, Old Li understood everything.
The Xin family has decided to take in this child.
Moreover, the Xin family also knew very well what caused the child's injuries.
In this case, he did not say any more:
"Lucky indeed. The child had many injuries, one or two of which were nearly fatal, but he was bandaged in time and was saved.
"But someone needs to watch over me for the next two days. It's easy to have a high fever after being injured. Send someone to come to my house and call me when the time comes."
Old Lady Xin's face lit up with joy. "Okay, okay, that's good! As long as I'm alive, that's all that matters. Thank you, Old Li."
Lao Li prescribed him a prescription:
"You're too polite, sister-in-law. This is what I should do. I have all the medicines on this prescription, but the quantity is insufficient. I'll give them to you first. You can buy the rest at the county."
"Okay! Then let Lao Er take you back. You can also calculate the medicine fee and give it to you when the time comes."
Old Li nodded.
He packed up his things, looked at the young man deeply again, and then said goodbye to the Xin family and left.
Old Lady Xin asked Xin Erlang to send the person off, and gave him a silver ingot:
"Take your uncle Li home and get the medicine back on the way."
"Oh! I know, Mom."
Xin Erlang responded and went to see Uncle Li off.
He got the medicine and asked his wife to boil it for him.
Then feed it to the boy.
The whole family couldn't help but yawn.
The Xin brothers asked their elderly parents to go to bed first.
Mrs. Xin and Mr. Xin did not refuse anymore.
They are old, and after staying up all night, they really can't take it anymore.
"Pack up and go to bed quickly."
After the old couple left.
The two brothers discussed it again and decided that Xin Dalang would stay here overnight and keep an eye on the boy's situation.
Wait until night, then let Xin Erlang come over.
Then, they went back to their rooms.
It was already bright outside.
Apart from the initial fear, the children no longer heard the sound of swords and knives, and fell asleep under the comfort of their mother.
The villagers, who had been frightened all night, also went out one after another.
He cautiously peeked in at the door.
Seeing no danger and seeing people from the same village in the distance, he felt relieved and opened the door to come out.
"Hey, did you hear anything last night?"
"You heard it too? I thought I was hallucinating. It sounded like swords, but I looked around this morning and didn't see anything wrong."
